Johnny is a spectacular skater but can be painful to sit through. The past few years, more and more, he has developed an unfortunate case of Russian envy. Horrible music, odd programs, catastrophic costumes; he's a couple of spastic arm gyrations away from junking Hill for Tarasova.

Evan is a spectacular skater when he has music and a program which suite his personality, he seems very stiff when the music doesn't. SINGIN' was a great match and although GREASE was dreadful, it was a step in the right direction. I don't like his FEELING and his CARMEN is hit or miss.

as for Evan and Tanith, I will admit I don't follow skater's love lives very closely (some things should be kept private no matter how much celebrity one has) but the only skater I know Evan was connected with was Jenny Kirk (IIRC, I am extremely nervous for him tonight lol), but that was some time ago now... Tanith dated Canadian Skater Fedor Andreev (Marina Zoueva's son, correct?) for a very long time and broke up with him... last year?

but I'd never heard two of the USFSA's most gorgeous skaters hooking up...

According to Fedor (who is a myspace friend of mine lol) he and Tanith are still friends--and skatingwise, he prefers E to J.

Based on this nationals and his last 2 years of international competition, it's fair to say that Johny is becoming irrelevant. At today's nationals, he proved himself to be the third-rate skater we all know him to be. Perhaps he has lost his enthusiasm for skating or does not train as much anymore. Or maybe he is just distracted. Whatever the reason, he is not even a long-shot contender for a bronze at Worlds or in the Grand Prix Series.

Yes, after I posed the question I did clarify I was wrong about the 5, it was 4. I feel bad for Johnny, but think he should follow Dicks ideas about not paying attention to the other skater, thinking not standing rink side might have helped a touch. Johnny was still a wonderful skater to watch regardless of the issues.

Was anyone listening, plenty of flatware to go around on that topic - not that it matters as much as the skating but hey..... since I saw them riding the coin operated horse outside the quickiemart it was obvious to me anyway.
