I missed the first part of the gala, but I'm watching it now. The new exhibition, I liked a lot! Thank goodness for something new (but no new costume :ohwell:). Plushy is much better at thrusting his hips than Kovtun. ;) I wonder what he thinks of Kovtun skating to Tom Jones. And yes...he showed those younguns a quad! (Well, I guess Konstantin is practically his age, but you know what I mean.)
 
Fabulous! Thank you, Mia29! :bow: I don't know how they can skate at high altitude like that, it can't be easy. But I suppose they have oxygen tanks on hand.
 
In the gala, Plushy came out the gate with such energy. He even made Storm seem special again (spin timed to the music? Now that's something that can't be stuffed in a competitive program!) And of course a new exhibition at last, and a quad at the finale. I wonder, did he decide to try it after seeing Kovtun try, or did Kovtun decide to try it after Plushy's "I may do a quad" interview? :)

That finale quad was so cool, especially after the other guys couldn't manage one (I have to wonder, were they impressed or were they thinking "Oh come on! How is that even possible?!". Gotta give it to the King :bow:

And I loved the new exhibition! Happy Plushy is a fabulous sight to see!

Yes, I have thought about this..but he promised quad some days ago, if you remember.. either way, it was great. I do not know what will be his competition program in the Medal Winners Open two week later. This new number? For me it seems a little raw..

Finally had a chance to properly watch "I'm Happy"...What can I say. Perhaps it was partly the song, but there was something about it (including a few specific moves) that actually made me recall Svetcha and Je Suis Malade--which would be sort of logical, in a way, wouldn't it? He is happy, but it is not a simple happiness, but one that was hard fought for, one that is stronger for coming after a great storm (another symbolic touch? ;)). I am going perhaps way overboard, I know, but I cannot help but begin to think of the words "comedy and tragedy, smiles and tears, mirth and pathos" (words once used to describe a great writer--I am going overboard, as I said).

I've been going back watching his earlier programs, and maybe I'm strange, but one thing I personally find is that as he gets older, the division between his person and the program grows less and less. This is one of the things that I find the most special about Plushenko's skating.

I am thinking... If Snow King becomes a hit internationally, maybe Plushy will think of a new show next year, with new plot and theme? :dance:
There's enough fairy tales for him to use.
 
Plushenko News posted a download link for the show with Miyu, but I think I will wait for someone to put it on Youtube...surely someone will, maybe later today since it's not even 5am in Japan.
