Even though the Nutcracker is a warhorse, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing his take on it with elaborate sets & costumes, etc. I have to say that after the Snow King, most other ice shows pale in comparison (not that I've gotten to see any personally...but judging by the photos and videos, the difference is clear).

OMG! As I said he looks really tired!!! I wonder how will he skate on 2 shows tomorrow? He needs a long, deep sleep! And he has two emotional programs, which is completely suck the power out of him.

Aaah this is so awesome! I love how wild the crowd goes! I don't think I've seen anything like that before or since, not even with Yuzu! (Although I guess you're not allowed to throw flowers at the skaters in the Kiss & Cry these days.) It's especially hilarious how Plushy doesn't catch a single one of those bouquets :laugh:

President of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia (FFKR) Valentin Piseyev said that is not going to clean Evgeni Plushenko from the team, despite the fact that an athlete misses a season.

I must say I don't understand why he should receive a salary (to give away) that could go to an active skater instead...not that I blame Plushy, but rather the Russian Fed. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something...

Right! Plushy said in an interview he doesn't need the salary, but the federation wants to give him. It would be far better if that money would go to any other skater.

Because he said he would like to try to compete again, and therefore they want to keep him as a part of the team, and that's what it comes with, I guess? Supposedly, when it comes to official business, there are certain rules that one is supposed to go by, at least on the surface, nowadays...

And I know you are not blaming him or anything, but I got to say, just for myself, I didn't see people making an issue of account keeping when it came to all the money that Plushenko paid out of his own pocket for medical expenses/choreography/costumes, etc. over the years...Or add up all the total cut that the FFKKR has taken from his shows.

I am not saying he needs the money or that it would make a difference to him or anything (it's a pittance to him), but sorry, I couldn't help but notice it just the tiniest bit that some FS fans (I don't mean you) are now up in arms about how other skaters should supported, whereas when Plushenko himself raised the very same issue (with Medvedev himself, no less, and frankly I think with a lot more justification given that it was more about actual corruption of officials), and paid for it with that one-year loss of amateur status on trumped-up charges, plenty of FS fans were saying that he was just blaming the Federation for not getting the gold at Vancouver, or being a fool, or that "rules are rules", or any number of arguments whose logic I could, personally, not even begin to comprehend.

(Yes, sorry, probably I'm coming across as irritable. But I guess I tends to keep grudges.)

Plushenko is a great skater, but some things he has once said or done are not correct. Accusing the Federation officials of corruption can only hold water with substantiated evidence, or it is only irrationally hollow talk.

IMHO, he should be included in the FS Expert Council instead of receiving salaries as an amateur skater from the Federation.
