Evgeni Plushenko

It seems like anyone who becomes successful has to deal with a backlash of some sort. I would think most Russians would be proud to have such a champion representing their country, but there are always those who find something negative to say. I don't really understand Averbuch's motivations, but I have to say I get a creepy vibe from him when I read his interviews or see him on tv shows.
Yeah... It All comes down to profit I guess.
But heck... There's huge amount of hatred towards even cute kittens and puppies on YouTube. I guess the level of hatred towards any celebrity is just very much normal.
Well... Unless you are the kind of Justin Bieber. :slink:

I agree.

Well... if it all comes down to profit, that explains a lot of things. I mean, Plushy makes the Snow King, if you want to see it and have the money, you go (assuming you're lucky enough to be in Russia instead of stuck overseas like us poor folk. :p). All the other stuff seems a little irrelevant, unless one has proof he's channelling the money on some Anti-Russian Skaters Not Named Me Campaign.

Imo, just as a figure skating fan: It's good to have more ice shows. It's good to have competition. It's good that someone is willing to invest in such a lavish on-ice production, and I would wish for its success whether I'm a Plushy fan or not. Too commercial? I'm not one to start hating on my favourite bands once they become popular. :)

I was just going to say, the internet has taught me that people hate absolutely anything, for the most bizarre reasons. Plushy is hardly alone.

Jason Brown: "Conversation with Plushenko at the Olympics gave me strength"

American skater Jason Brown spoke about his attitude to the Russian athletes and popularity.

"I love Russian skaters. I'm a huge fan of Sotnikova, she's so sweet. Tuktamysheva just incredible athlete. And I met Evgeni Plushenko at the Olympics! We first crossed when I was training before the team tournament.

I thought, my God, I'm out on the ice with himself Plushenko! What's going on in this world? And then he turned to me and said, "Hi, Jason!" I must have in every eye was written: "What? What? "I took a step back, let it out, told him what he had incredible skater. We chatted for a while. And it gave me so much energy!

- Can you imagine what someone once can also think of you?

- This is madness!

- How Come? You've already recognized on the streets.

- But this is just crazy! I even say, and you do about that person think? I'm just fall into a stupor when he see people like Eugene. I still remember the first time I saw Joubert live in the same place in Sochi. He went into the locker room and such - "Oh!" - Froze.

When Plushenko went to his first Olympics in 2002, I was seven years old. And if I were to meet such great athletes, I look at them as the same little boy, who was sitting at the TV screen with his mouth open. And being one of them - it's all on the verge of fiction "- quoted Brown's" R-Sport. "

It looks like there's a cuff around his wrist, but it still looks awfully dangerous. Hopefully it just looks scarier than it actually is...

Thank you! Some great photos there. :)

Note: Any info on Tomas? Was he the fellow in orange coat & black wig in Brian's pair number? Just curious... :)

Yes, it was. I don't know if he had a solo number...I would like to see if it he did.

Here are two more wonderful albums by Anastasiya Bochkareva from the 12/5 show, from them, it seems that Tomas, Brian and Katarina were dancing together:

Evgeni was absolutely radiant as the Prince, and you can see how his body language and facial expressions changed completely when he's turned into the Snow King. Does it make me bad that I felt really sad when he was defeated?

(P. S. there is also a picture in the first album showing him putting on some kind of cuff while preparing to take flight...But that seems to be pretty much it, though.)
