Evgeni Plushenko

If this happened the forums would explode out of sheer confusion (but thankfully you came out to warn us ahead of time!! Darn it, it's not April yet?) Just imagine the :drama: the haters... plus some baffled reaction interviews from Mishin.

On a serious note, I still stand by what I said before: When Plushy becomes a coach, it might be better if his first full-time student is a relative unknown. Seems kinda thankless to take on star students right off the bat, because if you succeed people can say, "Oh, it's just the groundwork from their previous coach," and if you fail, you're accused of ruining their career. Seems like a challenge for someone who has some experience under their belt.

Sandpiper, you seriously mentioned the haters???? He has haters here and on FSU and some FS forums but I'm not surprised. But Plushy is beloved, admired everywhere in the civil life. We all know he is the best ticketseller in Europe and one of the best ticketsellers in Asia. If he wants to be coach of a famous skaters he will be doesn't care of the haters... He knows he has many fans in the world. Do you think the Chinese Federation invited him to the novice boys??? ;) I hardly believe :)

Of course haters aren't the only people who exist. They're just part of the potential :drama:. There will be lots of "ooo!" reactions along with the "eww!" To be fair, probably any coaching change would divide opinions. But Plushy would be such a crazy announcement, no doubt bringing out extremes. :)

My second paragraph has nothing to do with 'haters'. I just think it's tough to take on a star student as a new coach. It's a bit of a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. It's possible to manage it, of course, but to me it seems like starting mountain-climbing with Mount Everest.

I have a feeling we shouldn't talk about this weird joke/fantasy/whatever for too long... someone might read it out of context and think it's a genuine speculation.

I just had a wild thought as I was reading the Yulia threads (but I dare not post it there, as I'm sure it would bring the haters out ;) ) What if Plushy became her coach? He could work with her on jumps, she wouldn't have to move, he could give her individual attention...I know it's crazy, but no more crazy than some of the other suggestions I've seen for her (Morozov?? :disapp:).
my dream

I came across this old clip last night, with a very young Plushy and Yags hanging out and shooting pool together. Does anyone (plushyfan?) know where it's from or know if there is a link to the full show or documentary?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEqiityko6A

You can see in this documentary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXTMOXartYQ Alexei Mishin. Torn between the Stars (2011) - 2/4 But probably this isn't the original documentary. I don't know that. There are other 3 parts of Mishin's documentary many old videos about his famous pupils.. ;)

Plushy and Yana flying to Japan now.

I knew you would have the answer. That documentary has come up in my Youtube suggestions before, but I never got around to looking at it. Not understanding Russian, I didn't know if it would be worth my while...but I do love old clips, so I guess I have to watch it!

Any idea what he is doing in Japan next week? More Stars on Ice shows?

Plushy will perform on Kanagawa Figure Skating Festival 2015 Japan (4 shows) 23-25.01.2015. http://www.kanagawa-fsf2015.jp/index.html Probably he doesn't want to fly back Russia and to Japan again... And I'm sure they will have business meeting about Snow King.

 I'm thoroughly amused by the title of that video. Although imagine how weird it would be going on Youtube and seeing yourself hanging out with your rival.

In other news, Japan gets all the cool stuff...times like this I wish I was the one who lived in Japan rather than my big brother.

A new interview (well, it was done when he did the last master class for children, but just published today):

Olympic champion in figure skating Evgeni Plushenko new hobby - he wants to learn to skate all Moscow students who dream about it. And yet - that children do not run from physical education lessons, but instead rushed to them. On his last master class on ice in Sport "Krylatskoye" gathered two hundred children aged from 4 to 16 years. After watching this unusual occupation, correspondent "RG" wondered: why is, in fact, need to athletes?
Evgeni Plushenko: Winter is long. Outdoor ice rinks, sports palaces with an indoor skating rink in Moscow and throughout the country now has a lot. But most of them idle. So why not use the ice to teach students the basics of skating? For the guys it's certainly much more interesting fizre hateful, and introduce them to a healthy lifestyle. Once I shared this idea in the Ministry of Education and Science. Supported me. So - do.

At the same time with the students and kindergartners?

Evgeni Plushenko: Why not? I'm first shows the first steps on the ice: how to stand on skates, how to move, lest he fall. Of course, then there will be dancing, and various exercises. But the first steps for all the same.

Children are not afraid to do them?

Evgeni Plushenko: Ice, of course, hard, slippery ... But here no one is forcibly drove. All came of their own accord and are engaged with joy. I've spent the past two master-class, no injuries have not yet received. I help experts who monitor the children, in which case they are insured. In addition, we put on children special protection - helmets, elbow pads and knee pads. This helps to make them safer riding. Although any sport travmoopasen. Physical education classes, playing, for example, dodgeball, children hit, smash their noses. Football collect abrasions and tuck the legs. And chess, if you think too dangerous - you can fall asleep and stumble to the figures. (Smiles.)

Your master classes for students - the first experience of mentoring?

Evgeni Plushenko: No, I can train. Repeatedly doing this abroad - in Spain, the Netherlands. Teach children to what was once taught me, and I in figure skating for 28 years. And I have the best coach - Alexei Mishin. Now into force of its experience some things modernized something to finish and refined.

What is more important to you - simply teach children to skate or engage them in figure skating, infect the desire to deal with it professionally?

Evgeni Plushenko: It is not my purpose to make all skaters. Let learn to skate. And what kind of sport then choose - hockey, short track, speed skating - that's their business. The main thing is to love the ice. Grow - teach their stand on skates kids. And then we will have healthy children and a healthy nation.

But why this requires the author's program of Physical Education, on which you are working? What you do not like the existing school curriculum?

Evgeni Plushenko: All is not satisfied. How to start a school gym class? With banal run. Then the children sit on a bench and wait for new instructions ... Or the guys say, here's 5 kilometers, run! But this is a serious distance, without training it should not be allowed. Well, they run away, his tongue hanging out, and more than anything they do not want to ... To what is the use? I want the children liked the lesson and give them a certain base that will allow in the future to engage in a variety of sports.

Well, how do you think it should look like this tutorial?

Evgeni Plushenko: His program I am working on. But I do know that it will be included in a variety of exercises with game elements, elements of dance, that was not boring. And yet, attending lessons, children need to understand that this occupation, for example, it is useful to back it - strengthens the muscles, and this helps to develop endurance.

This will be addressed your program? Students of secondary or a sports-oriented?

Evgeni Plushenko : His project I intend to implement in secondary schools so that children everywhere can play sports and develop. My current master classes help me understand how I digested the proposed elements. I also have a set of their own simple exercises that I show, and the children try to repeat. These developments are already being tested in a number of schools in Moscow. But I want to be outcome was all-Russian program of physical training, which is now with me educators develop practices and professional athletes. In general, the whole team.

By The Way

In the current winter season in Moscow is 1.5 thousand rollers, of which 130 - with artificial ice. A year ago, Europe's largest ice rink in Moscow was considered the park to them. Gorky area of 18 sq. M. m. And this year in the Russian capital came true giant ice rink ice surface of 20.1 thousand sq. m. m. It opened a month before the end of 2014 and the first days is very popular. At the same time it ride 4.5 thousand people, and for the season of his visit, according to experts, at least 1.5 million people.

Total agreement. No one likes the banal runs. (I wonder, perhaps this is why Plushy often leads the indoor football matches among the skaters? It's exercise but also a game, giving them a break from all the hours on the ice).

Running... no, even when I had any stamina, I found it exceedingly boring.... I'd do classical Indian dance in my room until I could barely stand, though....
