I really wanted to see Miyamoto's choreography. That was the Romeo and Juliet. Some fan girls were in Pinzolo training camp, and they were amazed by the program, Plushy's skating and Miyamoto personality.. I like Mishin, but I was really angry with him then.. He always changed the choreographies...

Didn't Kenji Miyamoto also work on parts of the Saint-Saens Medley? That was my favourite Plushy LP of the last four years. Had he skated it to perfection, I would've probably put it in my Top 5.

The choreographer was Avdish. Miyamoto didn't work on it officially..They only used some parts of Miyamoto's Romeo choreography. Which ones, I don't know.

But if anybody knows him from the beginning, will understand. He grew up in the 6.0 system. What he could do in that era that was enough. He wasn't a great spinner like Stefan, but he had great donut spin , Bielmann spin ( Plushy did these spins at first in male senior competitions ), one of the best camel spins, and some spins with interesting positions. But under the IJS needs more..And he did good spins at MWO. His sit spin was great, I don't remember when he did it in this way...( He received a thread about it on GS maybe before 2006. I read it in archivum...)

That was the start of the See-Through series. :disapp: Then the Sochi Team LP shirt, then Ultra-See-Through on the podium and everywhere else... They got progressively more see-through. I'm kinda worried about what'll come next.

I agree that some of the flak Plushy got for his spins was unwarranted. At MWO, his spins look bad next to Oda's, but if you consider he used to compete against Honda... His spins start looking like mini miracles by comparison. :hopelessness: One of many reasons why I think 99% of his 6.0 competitors wouldn't have adapted as well to COP spins (1% = Todd Eldredge, maybe).

Age, injuries, and semi-retirement prevented Plushy from improving his spins further since 2006, but he still managed to receive mostly Level 3's and Level 4's. They weren't lightning fast, and not all the positions were attractive... but I can name many skaters who are forced into even slower, less attractive positions by COP.

And hey, he at least gave us this once in his career. Would it get the levels today, or is it a lost art forever?

This spin is inhuman. :shocked: I believe he has chance in the world record for spins on ice skates...

He doesn't like the spins. This is a part of his biography:

Till today I like spins less. I adore the jumps, the step sequence and the spins come last. It is so since my childhood.

Till today one and the same thing happens – at important competitions blood runs from my nose. In my early childhood blood running from the nose was a real disaster.
Once I frightened my relatives to death. The blood run so much, that they called the ambulance. While we were waiting my sheets were changed several times – the blood run for half an hour. I didn’t feel any pain, but I was frightened, it seemed to me that the whole room is flooded with my blood. I had never seen horror movies till then and I could compare what was happening with creepy story, in which the protagonist finds himself in an intricate situation. And the protagonist was me. While I was thinking about all this I lost consciousness.
Then they told me that the colour of my face blended with that of the pillow – it went so pale from blood lost. Even the doctors from the ambulance did not wake me up out of pity. They told mom that I have something with the vessels and thorough examinations should be made.
Since I started training sport this happened less frequently. The same was with my snivels and coughing.

With the vestibularis the disaster was awful. I couldn’t stand any transport, I felt sick everywhere – in a car, in a bus, in a trolley, in a tram. It turned for me into a real trial.
- Mom, I feel bad! – I worn mom and we manage to jump at the last moment at the bus stop. I feel sick badly. We breathe fresh air for 15 minutes. We change to the tram and stand in front, where it sways least. And when at the end we arrive at the Palace of Sport I am green all over.
We always went out two hours earlier, so that we had time for the necessary changes of transport.

On the ice I used to forget completely that I felt sick. But only till we started spinning.

The coach gave us homework – to spin on a special disk. Everyday for many years I stepped on this disk and all started from the beginning.
I was spinning. My head started whirling, I felt sick and at the last moment I gave up:
- Mom, I will vomit right now, - I shouted.
Mom held me and dragged me into the bathroom. I drunk water and stepped on the disk again.

Mom took me to doctors and told them how my “home training” was taking place. The doctors calmed her down, saying that it was normal, that many children have a weak vestibularis and one just had to train it. And we trained it. After an year I had completely forgotten how it feels when you are sick.
I got used to that hateful home disk and even made it my friend. I already spinned on it in my free time alone, without mom’s reminding me about that.

At first, when you learn how to jump, you have to calculate when to make the rotation, where to put your leg, how to group yourself. When you rotate you feel like your hands would be torn off from the speed. And when you rotate for twenty years you know exactly what speed you should gather, how you should turn and group yourself. All of this is very important.

When you become an experienced sportsman, the elements of turning and the most elaborate jump is made automatically. At this instance, all the inside resources start working. You don’t think any more where to put you hands and legs.
But to come to this point where you don’t think about such things, I had to go through pain, nausea, vomiting, blood. Later, on the ice when I did the rotation, there appeared sometimes hemorrhages, it was bleeding from under my fingernails. Sometimes it was frightening, because you could not understand what was happening with my body. But I overstepped this fear as well, overstepped it and went forward.

Plushy did a little fluff interview for a woman's magazine...he shares his thoughts on love. It's kind of sweet.

They say that men are afraid of beautiful and successful women?

I'm not afraid. My wife - and beautiful, and successful businesswoman. And I like when a woman is strong. My mother is strong, and Jan in the affairs of the same. But it is precisely in cases home she gently.

When a man becomes a romantic?

Perhaps, when love when a woman seeks ... More depends on the person and the availability of free time. I can not imagine my life without Jana. Woman, wife - a family. Family - procreation. ... I want my daughter. And his wife agrees with me.

Zhenya skated Storm again with 3A, 3T, 3Lo and 3A at today's matinee. Not only that. He did another triple axel in the finale. wow !

During the performance by KOI member, other members also came out from backstage to watch (or to support ) their colleague. It was really cute.

The control on the axel is amazing. (And just as I type this, the radio for US Nationals goes, "triple axel - fall" ).

No wonder he never rules out competition. I mean, if he's going to keep his skills anyway...

The video already looks great, though I confess I started fantasizing about perhaps an even more "movie-like" trailer, you know, maybe begin with a beautiful shot of the castle, and then the dance in the palace, and one of those deep male voiceovers going "Once upon a time in a faraway land...", and then the music gets more ominous, etc.

BTW, I don't know if this has been posted already, but Inside Skating came out with the second part of their special report on Snow King, with many more gorgeous photos:

But mainly I want to mention that at the end of the article, Plushy is also listed as "choreographer-art director", fulfilling another strange fantasy of mine...(That of seeing the words "art director" or "artistic director" after his name at some point)
