Evgeni Plushenko

10:35 am...that's...12:35 am here? I think I can stay up for that. No idea what the show is about - just a day with the Plushenkos hanging out in their big white house? :)

 When I realised this was on I hurried to watch it before realising...I don't know any Russian! Silly me. :slink:

Still I did see a few more clips of Snow King, it looks so awesome. I hope I can see it one day!

What is the whole purpose of this show?

I don't know. Pobably this TV series wants to show the famous people's life. I think...

edit: Very very short translation http://evgeni-plushenko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&p=87535#p87535

- Plushy mostly talked about his skating the beginnings in Volgograd, about first coaches (all that you have in his book):
http://evgeni-plushenko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=132#p10018

Plushy and Yana want that Sasha be an athlete, not a figure skater, than football player. They will give him in 4 years to a football school, in 8 they will sent him to Barcelona in football camp.

Plushy's mother always forced him to be the best, only 1st. She was very persistent and stubborn, as well as Yana.

About Yana sons - Plushy became friends with them and introduced them into the world of sport (the older son was chubby) - now he plays football in one Russian team...

Plushy talked how was broked the screw in his beak during the warm-up before SP in Sochi...

Finally he gave bear in Tango Amore costume for 2 brothers orphans, who will be adopted.

Actually a good idea to not push the son to FS
Its hard to spend the life trying to be better than dad in whatever =D

We didn't really learn anything new from the show (well, I only could understand about 10%, but the material was familiar enough to any of us). Only a couple minutes of Sasha. They did show a few pictures I hadn't seen before, and Plushy was wearing a new shirt. I would have liked to see him maybe doing his workout or cooking in the kitchen, playing with Sasha, I don't know...something other than talking.

A new tv report about Plushy's return. I don't understand much, but they talk to TAT, Roman Kostomarov, and the gymnast Dmitry Bilozerchev. I don't know anything about gymnastics :o:, but I Googled him & it seems he came back to his sport after a terrible car accident that shattered his leg, & won more gold medals. So I'd love it if someone could translate what he said.

I'd love it too! :) And thanks in advance, should anyone take the time & trouble to do it. :)

There's many opinions about him un-retiring, but in the end it's his choice and if he wants to comeback, why not right? I saw these two photos on Plushy's instagram and thought maybe returning to compete is positive news since he looks as healthy and happy as ever! ;)

and I mentioned that we were waiting for a translate . http://archiviostorico.gazzetta.it/...Plushenko_per_piroette__ga_10_060218181.shtml Lelo, one of Italian fans translated it:http://evgeni-plushenko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&p=87570#p87570

Roberto Bolle ( I'm sure many of you know his name. What a perfect man! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roberto_Bolle ) This is an old interview, one of Plushy's fans found it.

I ENVY PLUSHENKO FOR HIS PIROUETTE

From etoile (prime dancer) to gold medal skater. From La Scala in Milan to the Olympic ice of Palavela in Turin. From champion to champion. The Italian Roberto Bolle, star of the Italian classic ballet applauds the russian Evgeny Plushenko, gold medal in individual figure skating.

Bolle, what did you noticed in Plushenko’s performance?
- "Apart from the competition, that was very exciting, is not just the quality of exercise that excite me. His real strength comes from charisma, personality, by the presence on ice. He demonstrates how much he’s good, by showing the high consideration has about himself, and this effects his opponents. You could see that others were not so sure, he told them right away, from the first movement: "I am the number one”.

As a professional impression do you have of a similar performance?
- "It’s something very spectacular for everyone, even for us who are particularly similar, with our solos, especially in this race.
There are definete similarities, the way he steals, in his manner, his desire to get the attention '.

Skating on ice allows evolutions even more difficult than those of the traditional dance on stage.
- "Sure. We are able to do two piruette/turns but we can't do more, and all those figures, because of greater friction compared to skating on ice. They can even do 6-8 turns on themselves. Fantastic (Bolle is a layman for FS)"
His words betray admiration. "These ice skaters are wonderful. They have a really superfine technique. I saw the final with my English partner and we were wondering how they always manage to have exact body awareness, in every moment of the performance '.

However, among the many phenomenal skaters, lately only Plushenko wins.
- "There are many skaters who have a strong body, and many are flexable and have softness and extreme extensibility in their movement. Honestly, I’m not an expert, I don’t notice one element that stands out the Russian. It is his artistic vision, the quality of dance and of how he presents himself , he has completeness."

Roberto Bolle did you ever tried to do Plushenko?
- "Some time ago, I was 13-14 years old, I tried to dance on the ice. It was a great sensation. I was fascinated by the speed and freedom of movement, but at the same time I decided not to take the risk. I was afraid of a possible injury.

" Why do people love ice skating so much?
- "Because this sport is very rich in content. It is a combination of spectacular exercises and elegance, carriage, the jumps, the softness, the strength, the interpretation. A combination that is Always a pleasure to watch. "

A dancer and a skater are very hard job.
- "Yes, it's hard. But even more so on ice. There, performances last longer than ours, and at the end you see people really breathless! Even if we are talking about well trained athletes. "

Apart from the friction, that doesn’t exist on the ice, allowing more difficult elements to skaters than to dancers, what else do you envy to skaters on ice?
- "I can say that my great curiosity about these athletes regards the athletic training. Dancers train themselves. We personally decide what is better for everyone, however it would be really interesting to work with these trainer on ice. To see if there is greater possibility of improvement.

Speaking of ballet dancers, as you might have heard the legendary Maya Plisetskaya passed away today at 90. I remember we talked a bit about her before, when Mishin compared Plushy to her (in terms of potential career longevity...just watch him try to match her now, lol), and I believe she also spoke about being a fan of Plushy's in the past.

90 is a pretty good run, for a life as well lived as hers.

Yes, I think it was here where we discussed her (and her performance of "The Swan"). Her performance of "Bolero" was also linked recently in Liza's thread.

Indeed, 90 (or more precisely, 89) years well lived.

Oh, I didn't know that Plisetskaya passed away!!! RIP Ms Plisetskaya!!! One of the most legendary ballerinas ever!

Her words about Plushenko

PLUSHENKO: HANDSOME AND UNREACHABLE

E.S. - I cannot not ask you about Plushenko.

M.P.- He is our favourite. He is so good that it looks like nobody can beat him. I can't imagine who can be better. He is a master, a great master who does everything beautifully, brilliantly and artistically. Also, he always looks so confident that we, his fans, cannot be not confident. He skates like an artist who knows that he is the best. Other skaters think that they are good too, but they have doubts and get nervous. Plushenko on the contrary always knows that he is much better than others, and he convinces all of us in it. He not just "works" on ice, he dances on ice masterly, and that is a wonderful thing to see.

E.S.- What do you think about his appearance?

M.P.- I think his appearance is fine. He is tall, striking, with a handsome body and long arms. He is not some cute guy from the postcard, thanks god he is not!, but he has the perfect face for the stage. The ice is the stage too.

E.S.- Who does he remind you among ballet dancers?

M.P.- He looks like Godunov, the Russian ballet dancer. The same type- tall, handsome, self-confident, with long waving in the wind and pirouettes blond hair. In ballet he would be perfect at parts performed by Godunov. He has the temperament and virtuosity for that."

The highlighted phrase is so similar to Bolle's opinion. Yes I mentioned Maya's words when I had debate with some posters because they said Plushenko isn't artistry...LOL!!! Because he has own style and that is so differente from the N-A style he is no artistry.

Smekalov( principal dancer and choreographer in Koriv Ballet) he was the choreographer of the Nijinsky LP and the Tango and flamenco SP::cheer:

- When did you start working with a skater, you can determine how wide the range of his artistic, choreographic possibilities?
- In figure skating, the good news is that you can create a choreography that will hide any flaws. If an athlete is inexpressive, we can compensate for plastics, and to focus on it. Put the motion that will express their individuality that is necessary to convey to the viewer.
Suppose take Plushenko. His charisma is so powerful that no matter what image of Jack chose, “he includes himself,” his inner strength and inner euphoria begins. It’s so captivates the audience, they forget that even a given image, which invested director. To them it does not matter. With Eugene in this sense simply to work…

I adore this german documentary in some parts we can see how they made the Nijinsky program https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2841lVtRMQ

Nikolai Tsiskaridze who was the principal dancer in Bolshoi( I think he is the director? now ) also praised Plushy not once. They are good friends
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLcyg-KW3I0 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBqGEGsRigc

And Plushy was mentioned as "Barishnikov on ice" not once in European media.
