Evgeni Plushenko

Well, I'm not fretted. When he stands on that competitive ice again, I'll be a nervous wreck, a quivering jelly, and whatever else you wish, but for now... I'm not worried. I don't coubt that they know what they are doing. And as for when he'll compete - well, basically, I'll expect him when I see him. They haven't decided, and they are moving cautiously, one step at a time. Which really reinforces my belief that there is no need for concern - as of yet. After living through the hellish 2010-2014, I must say that things are looking far... rosier at the moment. No talk of imminent surgeries, or anything being amiss. They are saying that they don't know how he will hold up to rigourous compeitive training - which doesn't sound to me like they are blinding themselves to all dangers and blithely rushing in where angels fear to tread. So, my advice to everyone: Until there is actually something tangible to worry about: Keep Calm & Keep Your Hair On. Enjoy the calm. It might be the one before the storm, and then you'll need all your endurance, and not have frittered away a lot of energy to no avail.

So, basically, yes, things may go to heck in a handbasket - but they don't seem to be tending that way yet.

I do not worry about his health now. I just don't like when I don't understand something. It seems Plushy thinks something but after Mishin rethinks it,what happened not once in the past.....So I'm curious what will happen Plushy will travel or not.

But we didn't talk about a very important thing!!!!According to the article he will work with the Bolshoi Theater!! Maybe he will make a ballet program!! How many times I asked him to make that!!!!! I will be in the heaven!!! His friend Tsiskaridze can help him! Or his another friend Zelensky they had plan to work with him in 2013. But Zelensky was the Novosibirsk Ballet's director in 2013 maybe this was the reason why the plan is not implemented.:rolleye:
Plushenko's most beautiful program the Nijinsky was made by a very good young ballet dancer and choreographer Smekalov. I like so much the original version..

Wow! I'd love to see a ballet program from Plushenko too. I bet it would be great!

And I'm very glad that Mishin takes such precautions with his health!

Well, so what else is new? When have we ever known anything?;) I think they do it on purpose (she said darkly) - they enjoy keeping us in suspense!

And yes, a ballet-inspired program would be really nice!

Russian Olympic champion Plushenko to stage new skating program with Bolshoi

Plushenko, who last year underwent surgery and has not performed since the 2014 Sochi Olympics, also said he would attend the training camp in Turkey in
MOSCOW, July 6. /TASS/. Russia’s titled figure skater, two-time Olympic Champion, Evgeni Plushenko, is planning to stage his new skating program for the 2015-2016 competitions together with the Bolshoi Theatre, he told TASS on Monday.

"I continue training and will soon start preparing new programs," Plushenko said.

"I will disclose a little secret, we will stage them together with the Bolshoi Theatre," he said giving no more details.

He also said he would attend the training camp in Turkey in mid-July.

The skater said he would undergo medical examination needed for the training camp later as he was currently touring Japan.

"All goes as planned," Plushenko said.

Plushenko, 32, who last year underwent surgery and has not performed since the 2014 Sochi Olympics, said in April that he would return to sports and take part in the world and European championships in 2016.

The titled Russian figure skater performed in four Olympics throughout his career, winning his first Olympic gold at the 2006 Winter Games in Italy’s Turin and the second in February last year at Russia’s Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Plushenko, who also brought Russia silver medals both at the 2002 Olympics in US Salt Lake City and at the 2010 Olympics in Canada’s Vancouver and won seven European champion titles, struggled with back injuries over the two skating seasons prior to the 2014 Sochi Olympics, but kept insisting that he would be able to perform well on his home ice.

you were faster ;) Plushy's part:

"The new quad Plushenko? We have already opened this page »

- Temporary absence Evgeni Plushenko you do not seem worried.

- In the twenty years of our work together, I gave Gene a substantial share ... How shall I put it more precisely ... His coaching potential. Currently, he spends training fragmentary. He engaged in medical evaluation and I have just enough time there to work with Lisa and other skaters. I have heard this opinion: "The Power of Mishina not that he is well coached, and that he collected strong athletes." So, I want to explain. I train in 1969. It is forty-six years. For forty-six years, I get the skaters who were clearly not able to figure skating in due measure. But they are also making good progress. Why am I saying this? I find it interesting to try and of those who are no do "everything". And here I must mention my faithful companion of life coaching and his wife Tatyana and young choreographer Tatiana Prokofiev, who, despite his youth, has reached a good professional level. Enough to be a world champion choreographer.

- Alexei, and you were not against the fact that Jack went to so many shows? With you it has something consistent?

- The fact that Eugene on the list of my group has a very special position. This is a young man who has four children. Two of his, and two adopted. On his shoulders mom and dad, my sister with her family already. Build a relationship with Eugene on the principle of "I am the head, you fool!", It would be completely wrong. He has managed not only figure skating, but also life. I trust him in all matters of choice in life fate. I remember at one time Jack called me and asked: "Alexey, you are sitting or standing?". I said, "I sit. In the car. " "Stay somewhere so as not to get into an accident." Stop ... "I'm getting married!". Once it was a paternalism, and now - the relationship between the two men, both - adults.

- The fact that Evgeni Plushenko is not declared for a single Grand Prix ... What does this mean?

- It could not be claimed. He has no rights to the planned participation. Rating ... In Moscow, the organizers may wish to allow anyone on the other stages of the Grand Prix is impossible. And Lisa will go to Canada and France, it is not the best option, we no longer want to navigate to Japan and China, but there already is a prize-winner of the world championship in women's figure skating, and of other combinations remained only Canada and France. However, they were also to Lisa at the time successful.

- But somewhere your student will perform well-known?

- Write this: I was pleasantly pleased with the level of fitness that Jack has demonstrated in Japan. He made two or three triple axels, restored quadruple jump, which he has always acted absolutely correctly. With this arsenal - with three triple axel and quad - he is already a force to the level of male riding which is present in Russia. Therefore it is not about the question to be afraid to speak, or not to be afraid. But about whether or not to join the "executive race" planning trehsezonny marathon, or not worth it!

- Eugene said that the need to learn a new quad. You, as an authority can jump to answer the question: is it possible at his age, and if he needed it?

- We start to the season has been an appeal to the quad lutz. Because no other quad - nor Salchow or even rittberger - not impressed. A quad lutz could have the same weight as a triple axel at Tuktamysheva. And we assembled in St. Petersburg have already opened this page ...

Is Mishin saying he thinks Plushy will do the Cup of Russia, then? Adam is going to be there...4lz showdown?

I think he just said that they haven't decided yet. He said that Plushenko couldn't be given a GP assignment back when most skaters got theirs because he has no right to a guaranteed spot, but federations which have GP events in their countries can give the home spot to whoever they wish (so don't rule this out either). (Actually, I think federations can fill home spots whenever they wish officially, but Rus Fed said they're going to wait and see in regards to Plushenko and Sotnikova and make a decision based on their form later on. Although, to be fair, most feds with home spots haven't filled theirs either yet.) And when the journalist asks Mishin directly, "But your famous student will skate somewhere, right?", Mishin replies that he was very pleased with Plushenko's form in Japanese shows, and so it's not a question of fearing competition or not, but a question of entering the three-year-long race for top spot or not. Basically, I think he hasn't said anything new in this interview. It looks like the decision about this season hasn't been made yet, and considering that Plushenko is about to undergo a major medical check-up, it does make sense. Then if the doctors give him the go ahead, I suppose they'll see how his body reacts to regular intensive training. TBH I'll be surprised if they make a decision before mid-September.

Personally, I hope he either does COR before Nationals or postpones competing for the next season altogether, if three seasons of intense training is too much for him (and frankly, with his medical record, it sounds like it). The one thing I hope he avoids is the in-between road - competing at some minor event not of his caliber at all. But given that he has shows lined up in October and November, it doesn't seem likely that he'll do COR, does it?

I'm in the postpone camp and yeah, with his schedule, I don't think it's likely that he would be ready in November.

When/if he competes, I just really hope he'll bring something new to the table, or what's the point? The ballet programs do sound intriguing, as long as they don't become too "Mishin"-ized.

I feel exactly the same way!
And I also hope that he'll postpone his comeback, so that he would have the time to get in top notch condition, prepare two competitive programs with the requisite transitions and the jumps, and clear his schedule for the hottest months of the season. (If he does decide to come back, that is.)

I agree with you. Basically we don't know anything:biggrin: tipical Mishin interview...And that is also tipical Plushy wants something but Mishin cools Plushy's "hot head" and decides. That would be amazing if Plushy will go to Turkey without medical examination...
And about Plushy's program I also hope those will be something new. I don't want to see such a program like Javi's. The too much TRs annoy me, but I hope if the Carmina Burana will be his SP(if you remember Plushy said that but Mishin wasn't sure in it) they will do a wonderful program from it.

agree. But I don't want many TRs... I'm an old fashioned figure skating fan, who watched and loved the FS since......it will be better if I won't say how many years....;) so I don't think the TRs are the most important elements of the FS. Look at an old program! You are calm and you have time to enjoy every movement... for me much more enjoyable!

But I would like to see some TRs at the beginning of the program. Because if he wants to compete to infinity and beyond, he must to adapt to the expectations. Everybody will be happy, he will receive less criticism( I'm sure if he will have many TRs in his programs there are people who will say he has no TRs) and HE CAN DO IT! This is especially Mishin's decision who for example didn't like Miyamoto's Romeo and Juliette choreography. I remember the reports of witnesses who said Mishin and Miyamoto constantly debated, Plushy was who wanted to make peace between them:laugh:

I've also been a fs fan way before Plushenko appeared on the scene ;), but I do enjoy the skating of Chan, Hanyu, etc. However, I hope that Plushenko will have the requisite transitions in his competitive programs not because of personal taste or to silence critics among the spectators, but simply so that he could be competitive. I thought it was unfair that he skated his SP perfectly at the Olympics and still lost to Hanyu by so much and was just a bit ahead of Chan who bombed his SP. It's not a situation I'd like to see repeated if he comes back to competition. (Although on the other hand, I personally thought that Reynolds outskated him in the LP.) I'm not saying that he should have a 4-minute-long step sequence punctuated by jumps, spins and a spiral, but I don't think that having transitions only in the beginning of the program will be enough.

Have you seen his Carmina Burana? I'm talking about that program maybe it will be his SP . The beginning of the program is really empty.

I didn't like the COP but I'm used to it. I also enjoy Yuzuru, Patrick, Javi's skating but Javi and Patrick has too much TRs for me. They are able to skate every momentum, but really suffering to watch the weaker skaters as they fight with the elements ... and the programs seem so similar. No personality, no diversity, just fighting. Not to mention the ice dance!! That was my second favorite discipline but I watch only the top 6 pairs today. The programs of not the top pairs are so similar and BORING!

"Mishin said that Plushenko does not stop in preparation for the season, is engaged in the formulation of new programs. "The upcoming examination does not mean that Jack is waiting for doctors - said the coach. - He is well aware that a survey in its interests. At the same time the athlete continues to be active. Plushenko is so strong personality that he is needed now is the highest masters of choreography Class that can instill in its "I" own. For this reason, we are currently negotiating with artists of the Bolshoi Theater, and overseas ballet dancers, as well as experts from the former Soviet choreography and dance. Their names are known all over the world, but to disclose them I do not want to. " ;)

we will see, we will see, Papa Mishin....

Sad news: Plushy's mother has suddenly passed away and he is on his way back home. He won't be participating in the ice show in Nagaoka.

So sorry to hear this. RIP. And my thoughts go to Plushy and the rest of his family. What a sad time for them.

Has she's been ill a long while? At least, I seem to remember that Plushy had to cancel something last summer because of her sudden illness. I believe it was some kind of seminar or conference?

His mother had cancer for a long time as I know.. She was really important for Plushy...
