Well, the campaign worked - it is now considered "a truth universally ackowledged" that Plush is "no artist". People take it for granted, and if they say something nice about him it is "Well, obviously he is no artist, but..." And if anyone objects then at most they will concede that "Oh, well everyone is entitled to their own opinion, of course" - clearly indicating that such opinion is really not the norm. But, what do I care? I don't let others dictate to me what is art or what isn't - or what I'm to enjoy or what not. Shrug.

OMG, this looks so awesome!! Apparently it doesn't have a release date yet, hopefully it comes out sooner rather than later. It looks so amazing, there was another figure skating anime ages back, but it focused on the women's side and no Plushy-look-alike :laugh:

And to add my two cents to the debate, Plushy not an artistic skater! Untruer words never spoken. While Dick Button was going on about the 'weird arm movements' in the Youtube videos I watched I was loving them and frankly, there's not enough graceful arm movements in skating today. :P

Maybe you are right, but I'm angry all the time. I can accept if anybody says doesn't like his style, doesn't like his skating...that is matter of taste, personal taste. But to say he isn't artistry... What do they know about him? I remember some years ago here was a debate and I wrote this a quote from his wikipage: "At the age of 16, Plushenko became the youngest male skater to ever receive a perfect score of 6.0. He received a total of seventy five 6.0's before the new Code of Points judging system was introduce.Under the Code of Points system, he has set 13 world record scores (5 in the short program, 4 in free skating, and 4 in the combined total)." Most of 6.0s were presentation marks by far. Plushenko fans used to say M.Kwan has no so many 6.0s as Plushy has. And I received a personal message from another member of this site and asked me how many were from the international judges. He/ she thought Plushy received those marks from the Russian judges as a result of the overscoring at Nationals. I could show a link(http://www.kingonice.com/evgeni6-0.htm - it seems the owner changed or sold the domain) there we can check exactly where Plushy received the perfect scores. And most of the 6.0s were from the international judges.

In 2010 Vancouver debate that was the most ridiculous thing Evan beat Plushy with tech points and on Youtube and everywhere many N-A posters thought Plushy lost because of the second marks and they shouted so loudly Plushy isn't artistry or Evan is more artistry.

Oh, I agree. Liking him or not is a matter of taste. But it would be nice if people would give him his due - the respect he has earned through the years. What baffles me completely is when people talk about him with... contempt.

And I can pefectly well understand why you are angry. I generally stay out of that kind of debate for just that reason. But there is simply no reasoning with some people. I'd rather bash my head against a wall - it would be more pleasant, and I'm sure I and the wall would come to a far better understanding!;)

But this is a case where we see how, if something gets repeated enough, it becomes "the truth". Because "everyone knows it, you see". And one becomes some sort of weird eccentric for not agreeing.

But so be it. We fans consider Plushy an artist - contrary to popular belief we aren't his fans "just" because his jumping. And nothing anyone can say can change that. We'll never change.

We know who the King is. :)

Well, it's all quiet on the Plushy front and his dropped to page 3 on the Fan Fest board! This cannot stand! :p

So here's an interesting clip from yesterdays men's short program on YouTube, I can't speak Russian, but according to the Official Board apparently TAT mentioned Plushy's operation, wished him good health and comforted him that if not could to continue with skating, he can always be a coach.

Which is amusing to me for two reasons, first some of the Plushy fandom are like "Well, that's nice" while others are like "Nice of you to totally write him off" and secondly, this comment is made just before the Aussie skater Brendan Kerry goes on...which seems rather random to me, :laugh:.

Also, Plushy did mention he was going to watch the World Championships (not in person, obviously), so I wonder what he thinks of it so far! Enquiring minds want to know, Plush.

The biased me says his was by far the most spectacular even if it wasn't the fastest! I remember the first time I saw that on YouTube and just went :jaw: where did he even get the momenteum to go that fast?!

Right now I'm watching the ladies at the World Championships, a lady from Armenia just finished and she skated to Two Guitars, couldn't help thinking of Plushy and the fabulous black costume. Seriously, if Plushy is going to insist on black costume he should dig that one up. :party:

It might have been the Philip Kirkorov concert he and Yana went to after returning from Israel?

Speaking of the ludicrous statement that he is "no artist", I think people mostly can be persuaded to believe anything if the mainstream media repeat it (and pretend it is some kind of "obvious fact") enough times. Indeed, those NA commentators seemed to have forgotten all the things they themselves have said about Plushenko before, and all the high presentation scores he has received. But to be honest--I am not completely sure how I should say this--but to be honest, I have some serious reservations about many figure skating commentators' and experts' understanding of art in general. The words of people like Plisetskaya and Filin about Evgeni's art carry a lot more weight with me!

(BTW, speaking of Vancouver, I have always thought it was misleading to cast the debate as one of "jumps vs. artistry", with the implication that Lysacek was therefore "more artistic". That was not at all what the debate was about.)

Aww that's cute! I wonder what Plushy thought of that? Because I remember from his biography that apparently some skater once did a program with the Godfather choreography and he was none too pleased. Although, I guess I can see why, that's like intellectual property theft! Having said that it was a novice skater or something, so I'd probably give him a pass.

O...M...G! This is amazing! I watched the whole thing looking like this :love: :laugh: Seriously that outfit called for an immediate 6.0 in Presentation.

And there's no other dancing videos, but apparently swinging (on a swing set) is the new trend, it looks fun though!
