In general, I realized that it's time to finish with amateur skating and try myself as a coach. Do I regret this? Not at all. I have a new challenge now. And I will strive to ensure that in the future my students cheer our fans in the same way as I once rejoiced. And even more.
"I THINK - DOES IT WORK WITH FOREIGNERS?"
- Previously tried themselves in the role of coach?
- I had experience working with children. I started to drive very early with Alexey Mishin on charges. He was such a workhorse - he showed his other pupils those elements, the technique that he himself learned from our coach. Sometimes he told me, even the grown-up guys, who learned to jump triple, how to group correctly, to push ... And gradually such fees, and, consequently, the classes became more and more. I was able to analyze the mistakes myself, to understand what to advise. It turned out to be useful. But, of course, there was no full coaching work. In fact, I've been doing it only the last few months. I like it, although it's very hard! It's not like the life of an athlete. Come to classes every day, stand on the ice for 8-10 hours - a serious load. But it's even more fun.
- Time for the show, for demonstration shows remains?
- I start to refuse some. Of course, there is less free time. But this does not mean that I'm quite finished with skating. No, I will go to the show and to the show. I will continue to work on my projects - fairy tales on ice. A few more years I'm just getting better. Simply now, such trips will be shorter - a maximum of 3-4 days. And then back to the children.
- Who of the famous skaters, except Sotnikova, may in the future start working with you?
- Now there are a lot of children in our school who start young people. There are promising juniors. Someone is engaged for free - if you see a super-talent and great prospects. But I did not expect that all the well-known sportsmen would immediately run to me. To me, the long road is to grow skaters from scratch. To go with them is the path that Alexei Mishin passed with me - for which he bowed low. He already said: "I'm waiting for your disciples to fight for my victory with mine." I'm also waiting for this!
- But there is interest from the stars?
- Many calls from foreigners. Surprisingly even. Now, I'm thinking about whether it's worth working with foreign skaters or only with Russian skaters. I have not decided yet.
- Returning to Sotnikova - do you believe in her prospects for Pyeongchang?
- I immediately told Adeline - it will be difficult to return. She does not even have a rating right now. But I myself was in this situation. All this passed. And I know what to tell her how to help. As for Pyeongchang, we have no plans to work for just one year. I want Sotnikova to stay on the next cycle. She is still too young, and everything can turn out for her. In the end, we saw examples of successful returns. We saw the recent rentals of Caroline Costner. Everything takes time. Its not enough, life in general flies quickly - my youngest son is already four years old! Compete with the current leaders is difficult. But our motto is to make the impossible possible.
