Evgeni Plushenko

A more detailed interview http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/970913

He would like to travel a long road with skaters from scratch the way Mishin did with him. I am truly deeply touched by this line.

BTW, to his great surprise, there are many offers from foreign skaters, but he has not yet decided whether to take them. Patriotism?

Having given this some thought...

It might be a good idea not to accept too many high-level students at once, seeing as he is new to this after all - and it is doubtless easier to work with Russian skaters, and not have any communications issues that may arise with skaters from other countries. Well, at least to begin.

On the other hand... The only way we'll ever find out who these mystery "foreigners" are, is if he accepts some of them... I don't suppose he'll accept students just to assuage my burning curiosity - which probably won't kill me, but still - but, you know, just one or two... maybe? (looks pleading & ingratiating)

Yes, he probably needs some time to get accustomed to working with high level skaters before he takes on that kind of responsibility. He is familiar with the Russian fed but dealing with, say, the Japanese or Chinese fed could present a lot of different challenges even beyond the language issues. And a "project" like Adelina is going to require a lot of work and attention, so it's probably best if he holds off at least until after the Olympics.

Did he ever announce what other coaches will be working in his school?

Leap to life
Will Evgeni Plushenko return to the world elite of figure skating Adelina Sotnikova

https://lenta.ru/articles/2017/04/06/sotnikova/ - google translate

The well-known figure skater, and now coach Ilya Averbukh, in an interview with the correspondent of "Lenty.ru" explained that it is now too early to draw any conclusions and give forecasts.

"Do not count your chickens before they are hatched. Yes, it's good that Adeline returns and continues her career. But I am sure that we will discuss their cooperation exactly in the autumn, when the Grand Prix stages will begin, when she will perform. While they only indicated the intention to work together, "the expert said. At the same time he was surprised by the fact that Plushenko will continue to ride in the show ice show.
"It seems to me that in order to train, you need to completely disengage from such things. But maybe the guys will prove that it is possible to combine all this. In that case, I will be happy for them, "Averbukh said.
"The most difficult thing is to enter the sports mode. She needs to postpone gadgets, forget about social networks and other things and focus exclusively on training. This is the first thing you need to do. And, of course, she needs to put herself in shape. In this regard, she has a lot of work to do. But Adeline is an Olympic champion, a talented person. Like Zhenya. It is possible that they will succeed. But I repeat, this requires absolute self-denial, "- said Ilya.

http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/970913 -google translate

Over the past week, Evgeni Plushenko managed to announce the completion of his career, about the beginning of cooperation with Adelina Sotnikova and to announce the official opening of her own school of figure skating. Actually, before this ceremony the two-time Olympic champion gathered a press conference, answering the main questions.

"THE DECISION TO WORK WITH THE ADELIN IS NOT THE PIAR"
"I've been dreaming about it for a long time." Finally, my dream came true! - began Plushenko communication with journalists. Of course, this is not about the end of his career. And about the children's school. True, everyone was more worried about one of the new wards figure skater.

- How did it happen that you started working with Sotnikova?
- Immediately I will say - I did not entice anyone, did not call anyone and did not persuade me to go. This was Adeline's decision. What is it connected with? It is better to ask her. Sotnikova contacted me, asked for a meeting. We all discussed and I gladly agreed to become her coach. Here it is important to note the main thing - neither for me nor for Adelina this decision is not a PR. We just do not need it.

- Have you already started working together?
- Yes, we have been training for about two weeks. We are engaged in both choreography and OFP. We skate a lot. Literally on Tuesday, the director Emanuel Sandu (former Canadian figure skater, winner of the Grand Prix final -2004, - Ed.) Arrived in Moscow, who will help us. Tomorrow we start to work on the image. We will choose music, style. In general, the whole coaching staff is ready. And I, of course, too. Although for me this is a completely new page in life.

- Was it difficult to finish the career?
- Once this moment was to come. Now I feel that I no longer have that anger, that desire and motivation to go out on the ice, to work, to fall, to fight, to study something new - something without which it is impossible to fight at the highest level. I ate it, to be honest. Still, the four Olympics are on the shoulders. And another 15 operations, the last of which were very difficult. In general, I realized that it's time to finish with amateur skating and try myself as a coach. Do I regret this? Not at all. I have a new challenge now. And I will strive to ensure that in the future my students cheer our fans in the same way as I once rejoiced. And even more.

"I THINK - DOES IT WORK WITH FOREIGNERS?"
- Previously tried themselves in the role of coach?
- I had experience working with children. I started to drive very early with Alexey Mishin on charges. He was such a workhorse - he showed his other pupils those elements, the technique that he himself learned from our coach. Sometimes he told me, even the grown-up guys, who learned to jump triple, how to group correctly, to push ... And gradually such fees, and, consequently, the classes became more and more. I was able to analyze the mistakes myself, to understand what to advise. It turned out to be useful. But, of course, there was no full coaching work. In fact, I've been doing it only the last few months. I like it, although it's very hard! It's not like the life of an athlete. Come to classes every day, stand on the ice for 8-10 hours - a serious load. But it's even more fun.

- Time for the show, for demonstration shows remains?
- I start to refuse some. Of course, there is less free time. But this does not mean that I'm quite finished with skating. No, I will go to the show and to the show. I will continue to work on my projects - fairy tales on ice. A few more years I'm just getting better. Simply now, such trips will be shorter - a maximum of 3-4 days. And then back to the children.

- Who of the famous skaters, except Sotnikova, may in the future start working with you?
- Now there are a lot of children in our school who start young people. There are promising juniors. Someone is engaged for free - if you see a super-talent and great prospects. But I did not expect that all the well-known sportsmen would immediately run to me. To me, the long road is to grow skaters from scratch. To go with them is the path that Alexei Mishin passed with me - for which he bowed low. He already said: "I'm waiting for your disciples to fight for my victory with mine." I'm also waiting for this!

- But there is interest from the stars?
- Many calls from foreigners. Surprisingly even. Now, I'm thinking about whether it's worth working with foreign skaters or only with Russian skaters. I have not decided yet.

- Returning to Sotnikova - do you believe in her prospects for Pyeongchang?
- I immediately told Adeline - it will be difficult to return. She does not even have a rating right now. But I myself was in this situation. All this passed. And I know what to tell her how to help. As for Pyeongchang, we have no plans to work for just one year. I want Sotnikova to stay on the next cycle. She is still too young, and everything can turn out for her. In the end, we saw examples of successful returns. We saw the recent rentals of Caroline Costner. Everything takes time. Its not enough, life in general flies quickly - my youngest son is already four years old! Compete with the current leaders is difficult. But our motto is to make the impossible possible.

Or ballet dancing...he can certainly do that! But OMG...that second link - he dances like a stereotypical Dad there! But he is indeed cuter in the first link and the Vicks ad! So cool! Man, we have Vicks here, but we've never got such a fun ad.

Heh, I was thinking of just the Plushy cake topper, because the cake has blue frosting...I'd have mine with chocolate frosting, of course. What's a cake without chocolate?! Your Dobos cake looks like it's got chocolate in it, does it?

That's pretty awesome, Sandhu's still super flexible, I see! I wondered how he ended up getting involved with Nutcracker and everything...I don't remember reading anything specific, did Plushy just call Sandhu out of the blue?

Interesting articles, Plushyfan! Although, why are they always asking Averbukh his opinion? I guess he's popular in Russia, just seems sort of...random.

And I am starting worry now that he'll stop doing shows in Japan before I get a chance to save enough money to go and see him! Maybe I should throw my savings away and do it this year! I'm sure I'm being premature in my worries.

And this article even though I can't read it is really cool! Japan really does love Plushy  I can't imagine news about his school appearing in any Aussie paper, booo.

Wow, that is hardcore, also I'm somewhat confused...it looks like tattoo has the 'ko' in front of the 'Plushen' which seems like a really weird design choice...or someone didn't measure twice and tattoo once!

Woooow, it always amazes me when people do art like this! And then they're like "Well it's not my best" maybe not, but it's way better than my best!

Looks like a really nice place! Although now I'm curious...how did Plushy get his skating school? Was the building just sitting around with an ice rink in it waiting for someone to come along and revamp it? Was it about to be sold? Does he actually own it or rent it or what? (Maybe there was an article on this and I just missed it or Google Translate mangled it too much!

I love both of these collages too!

- especially the first one...the many faces of Plushy.

Oh! And ETA: Speaking of ballet...the end of this video Yana took of the Louis Vuitton house is adorable!

Does it. Very delicious.

They met in Mishin's Camp in last Year. In Courcheval.

Good question.:agree:

You are not the only one who started worry now that he will stop doing shows...They will work hard in the academy.

But I must admit that this young Japanese champion is making its way into my heart. :)

D'awww Plushy, so cute! Although whoever filmed that is worse at holding a mobile phone steady than I am! Either that or they were on moving platform!

Can we all take a moment to appreciate Plushy's stylish old man cardigan here? I love it! Not sold on the shoes without socks though...

Olympic Carmen as a whole is a figure skating moment! I love it so much! Biased as I am I feel like Plushy could have taken the gold if not for the fall in the short program even if Yags was on fire with his skating :p (Good thing I'm not a judge! I'd be so bad at it.)

I am baffled by the amount of drama generated in the Plushenko Academy thread :( :scratch2: I know I should have head straight here...

Now back to topic. I am excited for Plushy and Adelina's new partnership. I wish it will be successful for both of them

Ugh I know, I saw there was new posts this morning headed on over and it had turned quite nasty (like, did someone just join the board purely to sling mud?). Should have seen that one coming, I suppose, Plushy really divides opinions! I just hope Plushyfan doesn't feel too annoyed!

And yes, I agree! I've already started imagining them succeeding and taking the ladies competition by storm. Alas I put no stock in my ability to tell the future, so who knows. All the same, I hope it works out and we can all see Plushy at the boards with Adelina looking ready to kick butt and take names!

Don't worry about me.. :) I didn't feel too annoyed, because I read such things on Russian forums..There are people who said similar things as this poster and there are people who defended Plushy. Here eli60056 poster told everything in this matter and his/her opinion was more credible than mine, because he is not a fan of Plushy.
But I can't stand to do not defend him. This is my mistake.. My opinion Plushy is special he is not only an athlete he is celebrity. He was between the sport and the show business what is a weird state for many Russians. Plus he wants to do very unbelieveable things and he reaches it. His haters didn't believe it but when Plushy reaches it, they hate him more .. and it all starts over again....

Awww, so nice. Don't give up on the shows yet, Plushy, I gotta see you one day!

I couldn't actually hear what he was saying (was it in Russian?) but he looked very sincere! I remember reading about how he supported Mao and praised her for doing the Triple Axel in Vancouver. They were both Platinum that Olympics! ;)

 It's a shame they couldn't have ended their careers in a blaze of glory, but when people look back I'm sure their amazing performances will be remembered far more than their very last moments on competitive ice.

I edited my post. I deleted Kadyrov's message.

I didn't see it...and I have no idea who that is, I take it it wasn't a nice message though!
