SNOW KING 2 LINE - 10.12.2017
The Riga leg of the now run-in Snow King has seen two events in the afternoon instead of the only one already scheduled. The host structure was the Riga Arena with a highly respectable acoustics. The level structure seems superior to that of the previous Tallin shows in Estonia, the last of which was canceled due to technical reasons.
The curiosity for this super prize show was a lot. But we expected a simple fairy tale on ice enriched with special effects. The reality has definitely exceeded expectations so much that we hope it will make a stop in Italy in the future. But, as Yana told us in the past, exporting a show of this size is not easy.
Compared to the Snow King 1, the "original version", the show has been simplified and revisited to be able to export. Some sets were missing, including the Snow King throne. Plushenko does not even perform the famous eight-lap jump. Added other performances of great impact on the public.
Changes also in the cast. Johnny Weir, Brian Joubert, the Chesna, Katarina Gerboldt, Nikita Mikhaylov, Tomas Verner, Zaldua and Sukhanov have disappeared. Amongst others, Emanuel Sandhu and Adelina Sotnikova appeared. During the rehearsals, she continued her lessons with her new coach. Also present were the students of the Angels of Plushenko school.
If so already the show is beautiful, we dare not imagine the first version.
The music by Valery Paramonov (last song by Dima Bilan), the scenography and the choreography created by David Advish and Nikita Mikhaylov was really beautiful and very accurate.
Although it is a fairy tale, it is incredibly styled Plushenko, it seems tailor-made for him. So he likes those who love him, like children and everyone likes it because this fairy tale "reads it all in one breath".
There are the narrator and screens that explain the story. The show is inspired by Andersen's fairy tale "The Queen of the Snows". In this story the good King Plushenko undergoes a transformation and becomes bad as a result of a spell and it is understood by the change of costume that from gray becomes white as snow. Also one of the protagonists, Kai (Sandhu, originally Weir), friend of Gerda (Slutskaya) becomes bad. Throughout the fairy tale Gerda tries to save her friend.
Plushenko is present in many parts of the show and can therefore be admired several times as opposed to what happens in a traditional show. Its ice entrances are always accompanied by an epic music. His presence is obviously regal, elegant and worrying. It is always perfectly on time and its interpretation is simply perfect. Evgeni is really the Snow King !!!! Even without makeup. The feeling is that he likes the part a lot. Recall that creating such a show has always been his dream.
Do not miss the special effects: lights and performances of acrobats, extreme skaters and special vehicles including boats and carriages. The entry into the track of the King's carriage (video) is one of the highlights of the entire show.
