Evgeni Plushenko

I've probably asked before but how many times have you seen Plushy live, Plushyfan?

Five times. And 3 times for many long hours..I could watch the practices before the shows if you remember

https://twitter.com/Iron_Klaus/status/1089282315774291970 - "If #Zhenya and I can practice a little bit, and he is okay after the recent surgery, I’ll pump out a huge cyst in my knee and pour some oil into my hip joint, and we definitely will not be lower than 16th place in #FS." #AlexeiYagudin

it's funny, sad but true a little bit

https://www.instagram.com/p/BtGVqt6DA7Y/? - I am so proud of my friend Javier Fernandez @javierfernandezskater that he became 7 times European Champion, I am happy that repeated my record, it’s a great honor

I do! But wow five times! And watching Plushy practice...I could watch his footwork all day, that would be soooo coool.

Apparently Plushy was the first to bring it up: https://www.sports.ru/figure-skating/1070987444.html and then Yags agreed (I thought they weren't talking? Although I guess they didn't exactly talk) and to be honest I didn't say it in the competition thread, but I have to agree. Honestly, with Plushy's solid jumps he'd at least be top ten, possibly higher!

I was wondering what he'd be thinking while watching and I guess now we know

Sad for the Russian men though...I bet they'd give anything to be as consistent as Plushy and Yags once were!

I saw this! D'awww such a sweet message (although Javi one upped Plushy a bit in that he got his seven championships in a row! Which I calculated means the last person who won the Euros who wasn't Javi was...Plushy himself!)

On the Coachshenko front - Plushy is back in his skates and helping Sasha out with a few things (adorable!)

Plushenko: Anastasia Tarakanova teaches quad lutz and 4t

MOSCOW, January 31 - RIA Novosti, Anatoly Samokhvalov.
Russian figure skater Anastasia Tarakanova learns two quadruple jumps: Lutz and a 4t, coach Yevgeny Plushenko told RIA Novosti.
Fourteen-year-old Tarakanova will take part in the Russian Championship, which will be held February 2-4 in Perm. Figure skater trains with Plushenko and Ksenia Ivanova.
“Nastya teaches quad Lutz and a 4t,” said Plushenko on the phone. “These elements are already being prepared on the ice. There hasn’t been a complete performance yet, but we are getting closer. Everything is very near. I hope she can do Lutz next season and a 4t if everything is in order with health. "
In December, Tarakanova took the fourth place in the Junior Grand Prix Final in Vancouver.
“Before the national championship Nastya is in good shape, she noticeably added the Grand Prix after the Final. The main thing is that she handled psychologically in Perm. But the task for today we put one in front of her is to do her job,” concluded Plushenko. - google translate

MOSCOW, January 31 - RIA Novosti, Anatoly Samokhvalov.
Two-time Olympic champion in figure skating Evgeni Plushenko told RIA Novosti that he began to gradually reduce the number of performances in the show and wants to focus on coaching.
Plushenko coaches at his academy in Moscow. In mid-January, he underwent surgery for pain in the cervical spine.
"As for the show, I have already got less of them. There are enough offers, but I refuse many. I gradually turn to coaching. Every day from eight in the morning until six in the evening I work at the rink in my academy. It happens in parallel with my recovery after surgery. And the performances in the show are reduced to a minimum, "- said Plushenko on the phone.
The interlocutor of the agency noted that he had planned a smooth transition from touring activities to coaching, and he is not associated with the operation. "This case (operation) did not push me to reduce show activities. I feel great now and can do a huge amount of shows, but I have a great desire to raise new athletes. And I want to focus on this, it gives me great pleasure." - said Plushenko.
“Very good talented children from 7 to 11 years old are engaged in our academy. Let's say our Sofia Titova jumps a triple axel at nine. While on the floor. I want to work with such guys,” said Plushenko.
At the same time, he noted that "it makes no sense to completely abandon the show." "But to the maximum I will work with my skaters," he added. "But the show will still, in particular in the summer, I will go to Japan for this, in this period my athletes will rest. We are adjusting the schedule."

If I right remember it was in Italy, Pinzolo. In the training camp 2013. In EU also illegal. Pinzolo is a little village on the mountains.

Tsk, tsk Plushy, setting a bad example there :p but then we've seen you ride a motorcycle!

:laugh2: Google Translate does it again, this makes it should like Nastya's the one teaching the jumps not learning them!

But wow two different quads...I wonder will Nastya move up to Seniors next season?

This is both exciting and a bummer for me! On the one hand more Coachshenko! On the other I still haven't seen him skate live and now I have a mortgage and an insecure job situation and anxiety about travelling, I fear I'll run out of time! :p

In all seriousness though this is great news for the Academy and I'm super happy Plushy really loves coaching  Hopefully he'll end up like Mishin and we can enjoy him in KnC's for years to come! :cheer:

Sorry for the double post but two things of interest! My Godmother came over to see my new apartment today and my (attempts) at sewing were mentioned and I showed her my Plushy plush.

And she totally knew who he was! OMG! She's like the first person in my real life who's known who Plushy is! She did mention the mullet and big nose, but also that he was an excellent skater. This made me a happy fan.

Also I was checking out Yuzu's thread and apparently a documentary about him (Yuzu) and his future plans was aired over there.

Interspector was cool enough to do a rough translation of it, there was an interview with Plushy in it and Interspector made this note:

Another Story NHK Documentary Summary Pt3

7. It's funny that in Japan, Plushenko's name almost always comes with the title, 'koutei' emperor.

I did not know this for some reason and think it's the greatest thing ever!! Japan knows where it's at.

Plushy also thinks Yuzu could make it to 3 more Olympics, oh, Plushy don't encourage him!

This is what I'm talking about. He is incredible famous many people know his name who don't interested in FS at all. In 2010 during the OG in my workplace I got to know there are other Plushenko fans! I remember they made me happy fan, too!

I knew it. He is emperor in every TV show and articles. They love him so much for years.

This is an old article, one of Yuzuru' fans posted it again. Plush gave an interview for a Japanese magazine in 2010. There is on Plush's site in English http://evgeni-plushenko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&p=44278#p44278.

- When did you decide to skate Nijinsky?
- A while ago. I wanted to show different program at each shows. I don't want to skate only 1 or 2 programs. I want to skate another one every time. The reason why I skated Nijinsky this time was, because it was fan's request and I have a good memory about Tribute to Nijinsky. I won with this program. And I love this program. And I can feel. So, to skate Nijinsky is very comfortable. It is a special program to me. Moreover, I stated "I will skate Nijinsky" on twitter. Do you know twitter?

- Of course.
- Japanese fans asked me whether I skate Nijinsky there. So I said "Yes. I will skate it in Hachinohe."

- Why Hachinohe? There were numerous shows in various regions in Japan.
- Well, yes, there was a request from fan, but after all that's my feeling. My feelings felt that I should perform Nijinsky here.

- Do you change something when you skate competitive program at show?
- I didn't try a quad today. Ice was not so good.

- Soft?
- Soft and drench.

- I see the rink was flooded (Laugh)
- I know. But we had no choice. I guess ice machine didn't work well because outside air was very hot. But, the machine worked very well during our practice. Oh, and show is show, competition is competition, each program is different. When I skate at show, I put effort into expression. Very. At the competition, I put a lot of effort into focus on jump, spin, step. But I think today's my feeling might be like a competition, rather.

- There was more steps in your program layout today. Did someone arrange it before coming to Hachinohe?
- Slightly changed.

- By yourself?
- Yes. I can arrange layout of program by myself because I understand how I should skate. Sometimes I add arrange more if change is needed. For example, if there are the calm audience on this side, I do toward them.. ["appeal" gesture]. If there are the excited audience, I do toward them.. ["appeal" gesture]. See. I am not a machine. So, I don't skate a plain program. I wanted to please the audience, so watch the audience well. That's why I am beloved of all. [smile sweetly]

- Tha's nice. This summer you did many shows. How is the life in Japan?
- I like Japan so much. Always I have a lovely time here. Japanese skaters and staffs are friendly. We go to somewhere to play, to eat, together. They support also my wife Yana, so I am very comfortable. But after Japanese shows, I will have the shows in Russia and Europe, so I am very busy. The show will be held not only in Japan.

- Oh, that's tough. Do you enjoy off-ice in Japan?
- I enjoy also off-ice so much. Akihabara, Ginza... many other places. Shopping, relaxation, and food. I love Japanese oyster and Sashimi, Shabu-shabu. It's very healthy and taste delicious. Excellent. And, I love Adamami.

- Edamame? (Boiled green soybean)
- Edamame! I love it. And I love Japanese sauna so much.

- You love.. sauna?
- Yes, sauna. I take a sauna almost everyday after the show. Because it's very good for my health. After Olympics, I will give a lecture and a master class more. Then I will tell it to everyone.

- That's good idea. I heard that you were learning Japanese from Japanese skaters. Can you say something?
- "Watashi wa skate chotto dekimasu!" [Proud face >:^> ]

- [Everyone LOLed]
- *uhuhu* [Giggle]

- Not "chotto"! [Laugh]
- Not "chotto" [Laugh]. I try to learn Japanese but it's not so easy.

- I have also heard that you took a note for study Japanese.
- Yes. I made many notes. [Shy smile]

- By the way, did you see young Japanese skaters?
- Yuzuru!

- Yes Yuzuru. How do you feel about him?
- I practiced with Yuzuru together. He landed very beautiful quads. He is a very good skater. Sometime, when the time that he beats me has come, I will say "Time is yours" to him. I will say, your time has come. He's very good. And young. He is only fifteen years old now, three to four years later, he will reach great time as a competitor. I feel he will be more great skater, by 2014 Olympics.

- He will be glad to hear that. He really respect you. Are you going to continue armature sports until 2014, aren't you?
- If I am not dead [Laugh]

- That would be fine [Laugh]. Do you have a plan or something new to challenge at competition in future?
- Secret. [Grin]

- Eh! I want to know so much. Do you really have to keep a secret?
- Everyone wants to know that. Don't worry. You will see. I have a plan. If those are possible, I may try them until Sochi. I have still three years. And then, when Sochi is over, the end. I will have my tour after Sochi. I will tour worldwide and I will do the last exhibition tour as an amateur skater.

- It's wonderful plan.
- This plan will surely succeed. And I want to do it with my American, Japanese, European, Russian friends. But it will be after Sochi. I just skate before Sochi. Skate, skate. It's a hard work. New program, new choreographer.

- New program and new choreographer!
- Yes. I've started to make it.

- Can we see the program at Japan Open?
- I will skate another one at Japan Open. I guess it will be one of my program which I have skated at the show till now. The premiere of my new program, it won't be for a while yet.

- I can't wait. So far, most of your choreographers were floor dancers. New choreographer, too?
- Yes. A ballet dancer. I will show (new program) someday somewhere.

- Some rules were changed, there isn't so much of a difference score between combo and halfloop combo now. Do you have a plan to perform Triple Axel + Half Loop + Triple Flip in future?
- Of course, yes. Because nobody does it yet except me. But I've been doing for a long time. Despite that, nobody can do it yet? [He put a "Look what I can do! Ain't I great?" look on his face] So, I can do it, I can do it. I can still do it. Maybe, I can perform even quadruple jump + half loop + triple flip.

- Oh, seriously?
- Do you think I can't? [grin]

- No. I think you can do it.
- I may not open those all but I think someday you will be able to see the thing what I want to do.

- How is your injury?
- I'm okay. Of course, I think that anyone who does sports has some health problem. Maybe it would be wrose, or it would be better. But now I'm fine. Getting worse or getting better, anyway, these things can happen in a long life.

- So, you are all right now..?
- Yes, I'm okay now! I'm always okay (Laugh).

- That's good. Thank you very much for your time.
- Arigato!

A bit late but is his back okay now?
I saw some news weeks ago that he was taken to the hospital.
There was an update that he was already home, but is he still under medication?

ZOMG, Plushyfan, that last video is just adoooorable!

As is my morning habit, I was just browsing Insta and came across some awesomeness!

https://www.instagram.com/p/BtfRL1dljJ0/ - mirainagasu - Sorry I've been MIA. I'm just behind on daily content but here's a photo of me with the #goat @plushenkoofficial

Mirai knows where it's at! I'm curious when was this?

Also Japanese TV has the best stuff! Here's some footage about the Plushenko Cup: https://www.instagram.com/p/BtanQbQjlFi plushenkoofficial: One of the main Japanese channels about my competition "The Plushenko Cup" which next time will pass in April with panache.

In other news I notice Viktor Petrenko, Plushy's idol, has liked Plushy's posts lately, which must be super exciting!

And finally I had a dream last night that Plushy entered an Adult Skating Competition and did a program mostly of footwork and all these people were like "Wow, he can do such artistic footwork" :laugh2: I was like duh.

Apparently Plushy was the first to bring it up: https://www.sports.ru/figure-skating/1070987444.html and then Yags agreed

:coffee: Of course, this is Yagudin's answer to Evgeni - and I think it is obvious, that Yagudin pretends to agree, but actually he laughs at this idea. (though I saw a reader who really believed Yagudin was ready to fight for the 16th place - this reader said Plushenko and Yagudin needed to cure their brains)

When Evgeni was young, Yagudin answered he expected Evgeni to be the winner. When Evgeni wasn't young anymore, Yagudin still was asked:
"Do you believe he can win? (Yagudin doesn't look optimistic) You don't?"
"I do." (the host laughs)
Y: "I can tell why I do. He is an outstanding athlete indeed, yet on the other hand any athlete can win a competition - I mean any sport. In Salt Lake City I saw with my own eyes - it was a tragedy for someone, a shock for someone - short track: a sportsman from Australia won (Australia wasn't strong in this sport). He had got to the final somehow, and in a final circle - I remember one of them was Apolo from America - he ran into someone, three athletes fell - and this man with crazy eyes won the Olympics! He couldn't get what had happened. So in sport everything is possible."

When Denis Ten said to Yagudin: "You are the most awesome. :-)))" - Yagudin answered: "in comparison with You, dear Denis, I am like the old man Lenin and Mausoleum is home for me!))))"

Yagudin doesn't like to say he is the best. That's why he laughs or says: "Wow!!!!!!" - when Evgeni says something like: "I'm the only one".

Rina Rus, do you think that Plush was serious?:scratch2:

I don't think, that this time Evgeni was serious. :coffee: Yet even in this case I'd say Evgeni reminds he and Yagudin were better than the young Russian skaters. Yagudin dials down fanfare.

You know... I just have no words:scratch2: You`ve taken the most innocuous Plushy`s phrase to find some deep and global senses. Too deep and too global for my poor English. And even for my native Russian, perhaps:laugh:
They both were saying different things, sometimes not very good, sometimes even strange, but this is not that case. Moreover, I was happy to read this dialog because it was unusually peaceful and without false bottom.

I just have no words:scratch2: You`ve taken the most innocuous Plushy`s phrase to find some deep and global senses.

Yes, this case is just a joke. It is not important anyway. Yet it is not the first time when Evgeni praises himself.

https://twitter.com/yagudinofficial/status/428234652131033088
Yagudin says "wow!!!!!!" not because he is envious, but... maybe such words are strange for him.

Even when Yagudin was young and strong, he was saying, that every skater at an international competition was interesting (Russian is your language, you can hear it):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhVneIx_HRI&t=3m48s
"Perfect people do not exist, perfect systems do not exist. Bad performers do not exist. There is something interesting in each skater - as surely as there is something interesting in each woman. So in figure skating you can take spins from one skater, passion from another one, interesting steps from the third one, music or a costume from the forth one and so on. All the people in the international figure skating - from the first place to the 30th place - there are people whose spins are just awesome, who does it better than any of us can (better than those who won). So one should learn from everyone."

Rada, of course, I don't mean, that it is you who thought Yagudin was envious. And of course, Yagudin is not perfect. Yet when he hears: "two best skaters" - he answers: "I don't like to say so about myself".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-OZYlsBGh8&t=21m12s

Rina Rus, sorry, I won’t read your post till the end. What do you want to say in the exact situation? I would understand you if you’d chosen any other Plushy’s words, he said enough even stupid things ( as Alexey , though), but not this. Do you want me to post his rude (very rude) words about Misha and Max? Would it sound better then words you’re talking about? I just don’t understand you, really. Why now? Why this absolutly normal phrase and this peaceful dialog? Plushy gave enough reasons, and will give more, I’m shure: But wht’s the problem now?
