Oh no, I want to see Plushy at the boards!!! I still remember how excited I was when I first read about his figure skating academy - I think it was even here in this very thread way back when I was still an anonymous lurker. Seeing my old favourites coach their students to success is half of the fun of watching figure skating competitions for me these days. And Plushy and Sasha were successful for cryin out loud - she won a worlds bronze medal and a small gold for the FS after all.

Plushy hired Rafael Arutyunyan as a consultant for Sasha!!

I wish I could be happy about this, but I'm not...

And I'll tell you why.

Already I've heard people snidely say "Why doesn't Plushenko coach Sasha himself instead of bringing in every random coach he can find?" These are the same people, mind you, who called him a fake coach in the first place so I really don't know why they're complaining.

I'm also looking forward to hearing the following:

"Wonder how much Plushenko bribed Raf to get him to come."

"Typical PR from the crappiest coach that ever lived"

And the perennial favourite:

"Does this mean Sasha's going to see the light, dump Plushenko and go with Raf? Prayer circle everyone!"

And if Sasha improves after this, it will be no thanks to Plushy, he probably didn't even come up with the idea, don't forget he's the stupidest person in the world.

And God forbid Sasha doesn't improve after this then it'll really be Plushy's fault and all the fans will start planning a rescue mission to save all the promising skaters from the hellhole that is the Academy.

Because I have realised something it doesn't matter what Plushy does or doesn't do, he'll always be the worst to these people, always.

They probably blame him for Russia's Corona virus response and the ISU's massive incompetence too.

This is a very smart move from Plushy. If their cooperation is finally implemented, it will be a win-win result for both of them. Considering the quad plan for Trusova in the Olympic season and the further development of the AOP, Rafael is undoubtedly the most ideal business partner for Plushy. We usually consider plushy a very arrogant person, but he is actually a rather sober-minded & flexible realist. I sincerely wish him great success in his ambitious projects! Just don't forget to make some written contract!

Well Rafael is only stopping by during his holiday so we shouldn't get too excited. Although I heard there might be further consultation with Sasha T via Skype. Raf did really well with Nathan just using Skype so hopefully it'll work the same for Sasha.

My heart is too fragile I think! But I've been greatly cheered by the World Team Trophy so am in a far better mood. Also the Sarnovsky brothers are competing in a local competition and I found a stream so am looking forward to watching them this evening (Aussie time).

- Evgeni Plushenko as a coach causes a lot of emotions and even hate. How do you feel about him as a coach?

It's crazy. When such attention is focused on a person, every mistake is inflated. And not even him, but skaters. Athletes are not robots. Sasha Trusova rides with a lot of quadruples, she has the right to make a mistake! We're not iron. Blame Plushenko for every mistake of his athlete... Why aren't other coaches so accused? He went to a big school, he was a great athlete. He knows a lot and understands a lot. It's impossible to be perfect when you're being seen under a magnifying glass.

"But he is attracting attention to himself, probably because of the showdown with the headquarters of Tutberidze some have such an attitude.

"Absolutely. But I don't want to evaluate it, it's not close to me. Everyone has to do their job. I have a positive attitude towards him and respect him as a person and a coach. As a coach, he is good, conscientiously does his job and does not deserve the kind of attitude that some haters show to him.

I can say that everyone should be a little more tolerant of each other. We all work for one federation, one country, one national team. What happens in social networks affects athletes, distracts. Evgeni Viktorovich, by the way, in this sense is open to the conversation man. I would like their confrontation, all these quarrels are over.

Honestly, I also think it's not the worst thing for the Academy. They can finally take their time now to regroup outside of the media spotlight. I wish Plushy all the success with his young skaters. When he proves himself with his students in years to come, at least no-one can say that he just took ready made skaters and benefitted from their former coaches' work.

Plushy telling Sasha to leave would be the stupidest thing anyone anyone could ever do. It's completely and utterly destroyed his reputation. He's going to be a joke forever.

I saw that post....on the one hand I was relieved, but then I just realised that to haters this just makes Plushy look even stupider. Like Nero fiddling while Rome burns to the ground.

Maybe I shouldn't care so much about this, but I can't help it. I guess it's my fault, I came into figure skating as a Plushy fan, and I had no idea just how hated he is. I've liked unpopular fictional characters before, but none of them, not a single one has provoked the visceral hate Plushy does.

I feel like it's almost impossible to find someone who doesn't hate him and want him to fail. I mean even here in his fan fest apart from myself there's a grand total of four people. That's it, four people, for a 4 time Olympic medallist, 3 time World Champion, 4 time Grand Prix Champion, 7 time Euro Champion and 10 time National Champion. It's utterly inconcievable to me that someone so talented, so successful could be so utterly hated. What. The. Hell?

Following others on Instagram or Twitter is damn near impossible, because no matter who it is and who they cheer for there's one big similarity, they all hate Plushy too. Or if they don't hate him, they think he's a joke which might be worse.

I just feel hopeless like even though Aliona.and Sasha are gone the haters won't be happy until there's not a single skater left. Mark my words they'll be onto the Zhilina sisters and Sofia T and Sofia Murvieva next.

And even then, I feel like they won't be happy, they'll never be happy until they can find some way to obliterate him from history all together. Take away every achievement, every medal, every record.

And then they can live in a magical paradise where Stephane Lambiel is the 2006 Olympic champion and 2010 bronze medallist and Daisuke won the silver. Where Yagudin got to be World Champion 6 times over.

It's so depressing.
