Yes, he was tiny when he first burst into the scene. At the 1996 World Junior Championship, the commentator said he was "as small as the female pair skaters". It is a wonder that he could maintain such jump consistency during the growth spurt, his technique is just so pure. That is also why I am pretty confident that Liza will come out of puberty just fine.
 
I m not sure but I think he had the big growth spurt during summer 2000, I remember a video of an early GP where Terry Gannon(:love:) was saying he suddently got tall several centimeters that threw him off.
 
2009-2012
In spring of 2009 he officially announced that he come back, and will be involved at the Olympics. His girlfriend, Yana said to him, "you can do it", "you can do it". Yana is wise, smart and strong woman, perfect for Plushy. She was the mainstay, when Plushy thought that can't do the preparation. Plushy had to lose weight 10 kg, it wasn't easy.

There was a great interest towards the wedding. Some TV company bought the broadcasting rights, including a Japanese TV, which paid EUR 50.000 per minute. 1.2 million euros were the revenues.

After this victory started the attack against him, especially in North American media. A sharp contrast to the way Plushenko was judged at the 2006 Torino Olympics was also pointed out. In Torino, he was regarded as a genius, who after Yagudin's exit had no equals left; in Vancouver, he was perceived as an unwelcome threat to be reduced to an average skater easily bested by any Tom, Dick and Harry. Instead of the elements that a few rare individuals are able to conquer, the emphasis began to be placed on the better quality performance of what can be done by 500 men. A multitude of athletes, their coaches and sports officials had already made their plans for the upcoming Olympics. And then thunder struck - Plushenko has returned!"

That is a very controversial defeat. Many people supported and defended him, not only his fans, experts, skaters, as Plushy said, he had army of defenders. And in North America begun to say he is only a jumper...Ridiculous!!!I'm angry and I think they don't know his skating, don't know the facts.

WCH: He withdrew from the 2010 World Championships citing injury.

Plushenko skated in exhibitions soon after his withdrawal from Worlds. On June 28, 2010. the International Skating Union announced that Plushenko had lost his eligibility due to participating in skating shows in March and April without the Russian figure skating federation's authorization. Loss of eligibility and reinstatement, but on 12.06. 2011, it was announced that the ISU had reinstated him by a unanimous vote.

I am pretty certain that Joubert will have to miss out on the fun - he was pretty sick at CoC and will need to get some tests and some rest. Still a great cast though, I'm sure it'll be a wonderful celebration :)
