Evgeni Plushenko

Well, this doesn't actually have anything to do with the previous comments, but I've been working on a Plushy Plush and finally got it to my liking and just had to post a picture of the finished product.

It's not what you'd call a masterpiece, but I still like it a whole lot!

Hope you all like it! :)
Thanks for sharing! I can't express how much I admire the fans who actually make artwork, dolls, ect. Ah, the joys of being not-lazy...

Why do they have a beekeeper as a caddy?
That's a... good point. Any explanations, anyone?

@Gallavich
Thank you! Watching now. :) (So glad I'm free today, haha).

Ouch, talk about bad luck... I was wondering why he looked a little cautious on the Tosca footwork.

This isn't even the last Artistry on Ice show... hopefully he'll get the problem fixed after tonight? And no more quads for now, Plushy! Looks like his back could take it, but his skates can't.

Why, what's happened? "Broke the edge"? Remember bloo- er, hm... I mean blessed Instagram is not working for me, people! Did he damage the blades of his skates, or what?

I don't know the technical term, but the top bit that attaches to the boot is broken. Still, he managed to skate 2 clean programs (no disrespect to Han Yan, but if a 31-year-old with a bad back and broken skate can do it...:slink: ). I would think they would keep someone around for these kinds of situations on an ice show tour, no? Carry some extra sets of blades just in case?

Whew, Plushy got through it! Doesn't seem to have affected his jumps any. Can they get it fixed before the next show? I mean, the blade looks like it's going to fall off, with the crack and the precarious-looking screws...

To be fair to Han Yan, he was doing harder triples than Plushy. Still, mistakes on all his jumping passes... :slink: But, his performance with Zijun was breathtaking!

Btw, I couldn't help but notice that the Best of Plushenko outfit is very... see-through... :o: Didn't notice it during the Sochi medal ceremony, but it was really obvious under the spotlights.

 Edvin's dance in the end! Thank you for the stream link, Gallavich. A strong show all around.

Yeah, why did he change his shirt? The other costume looked much nicer to my eyes. Edvin cracked me up. I was trying to figure out a way to make screen capture gifs, but no luck. I'm sure someone will upload the whole thing, though, for those who missed it.

I'm glad he changed the shirt, just because he's never skated in this one before. But the recent... proliferation... of sheer outfits might be a bit much.

How many different sheer black blouses does a man need? I think the designer is talented, but rather stuck in a rut...perhaps he is the Lori Nichol of Russian skating costume design?

I read some tweets from Yana, and it seems like Plushy will not be able to repair his skate for the next show. She said it can't be fixed as it takes a week to break in new blades. I have no knowledge on the subject myself, but those are her words. So I doubt we'll see another 3A or quad attempt for awhile...it was nice while it lasted!

Are you sure the three sheer black blouses are all designed by the same person? Maybe Plushy wants a black blouse collection and got different takes on it? But I notice they're getting more and more sheer... :slink: I mean, he can wear whatever he wants, I just don't want him to get a costume deduction if he returns to competition. (Though that'll make for some really entertaining headlines).

Lol, even Plushy isn't crazy enough to do 4T or 3A on a broken skate... I hope. Maybe it'll turn out to be a blessing--give him the rest he needs and refuses to give himself, y'know? Is it really easier to skate on a broken skate rather than a new one?

I couldn't - but thanks; I managed to see it on Plushy's forum, though. But I'm really grateful for you describing what was wrong anyway, as I can't really see... I kept trying to squint at it, going "Is it broken the way I think it is? That can't be good... can it? It can't be good... "

I wonder about the new boots thing, though... I mean, I understand if it takes a week to break in new ones, it cannot be comfortable, but... surely it's better than having one's blade potentially coming off? But what do I know? I trust they know what they're doing. :)

Anyway, how many shows/performances are left?

Do they have more shows in Taipei or he is going home? How is he going to skate with this broken blade? A spare one? This guy is crazily awesome!

^It's not completely broken. Somehow, he managed to skate with it. Just one more show left to get through--Taipei on the 3rd...

A short interview with Mishin was published yesterday. Not much to it, but since we enjoyed his "cake" metaphor the last time, I thought I would share.

Alexei Mishin: I am happy that after the operation can execute Eugene quads

The coach of the Russian Olympic champion figure skater Evgeni Plushenko Alexei Mishin told about preparation of the athlete.

- Activities in coach and athlete are two positions, first - to work in the near future. In this case a quaternary sufficient. I had once cited the example of a metaphor about the cake, which is close, and the cake - which costs far. Here's to eat this cake, even a few years, you have to jump and a quadruple toe loop and Salchow and another. Eugene - talent and has perfect technique of jumping. I know, I myself was the creator of this. His technique and working methods that we use, have been a model for all within a few decades. It is difficult to find a school of figure skating, which would not have used them.
Here is an example - when he spoke Arkady Raikin, he never actually used the surname Zhvanetskogo who wrote for him great monologues - Mishin said. - So and coaches who are ashamed to use in his fiery speeches about the winners name Mishin. What we do with Eugene, it is an indication that our method - the best in the world - quoted by ITAR-TASS Mishina.

Also, a Youtuber edited all of Plushy's parts of the Guangzhou show into one video (includes opening & closing numbers): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pX97tsfrPpA

^Thank you! I missed the opening during the stream.

I can't quite making sense of the interview. On a vaguely related subject, I've been thinking about this whole quad lutz thing... And it's obviously insane, but maybe there's a bit of strategy to it? If he lands quad lutz, he won't need to go for a second quad in the LP.
