Kim didn't appear. Obviously the IMG (original planner of the event) kicked her out. I hope Japanese media to stop stirring up the futile "Mao-Yuna rivalry".

Thank you for the scores, satorare!

Hooray for Nobunari (love the 3A-3T-3L combo!), Takahiko and Alexei skating well! I'm happy that Mao landed the 3A, too. Miki's score seems a bit low considering her jump content.

Overall it seems like it was a bit of a splatfest, which was to be expected for an event so soon after Worlds and with many skaters being tired after touring and all the media appearances. But hopefully, like last year, good fun was had by all.

I read on the other forum that the ISU told Japanese & Korean Skating Federation there is some rule against YuNa Kim skating an exhibition since she's not part of competition. Seems like YuNa's absence was caused by ISU rather than IMG.

That's a sheer lie.
Because Shen/Zhao replaced Kim for an exhibition.
Is there any difference of conditions?

Some says that Kim's mother was embarrased by the IMG's punishemt, and wants to pass the buck to the ISU. The Korean media just write about her one-sided story. If it's true, the ISU will be displeased and Kim will face "consequences" in the next season.

But it's the same case for shena and zhao

Didn't Shen/Zhao go pro after Worlds?

Well, whatever's the case, it will be intersting to see how the conflict between YuNa and IMG will turn out.

I haven't heard S/Z turned pro.

Anyway, if such a "rule" exists for real, why the ISU should interfere just less than a week before the event? Kim's gala appearance was decided at least two months ago. Does that mean the IMG has powers to "bend the ISU rule" and again, influence the ISU to "issue an order"? That's pretty scary senario for Kim!

I still believe Kim's mysteriously high score at the worlds was designed by the IMG to promote the "Mao Yuna rivalry" and to make a show for sale. Leaving the IMG's clout is nothing useful for Kim as a skater.

I saw it on Tokyo channel.
It seems Yuna has health problems.

I am so impressed with Oda, Yagudin and Ando's performance.
For Mao,poor girl. She fell twice, her triple axel, I believe it was downgrade since it was underrotate.

Poor Mao, I hope she won't become a headcase.
Kimmie is also on a downward trajection. Her tendency to pop lutz(not just this competition) should be a wake up call.

I am surprised that IMG did not work harder to keep Kim's parents on board. Kim is hugely popular in Korea. It would seem like a win-win situation for IMG Korea to pull out all the stops in promoting her.

About the rule that you can't skate in the exhibition if you don't skate in the competition, that has an interesting history. If I remember correctly, it was invented by an executive order by Mr. Cinquanta in 1998 to try to coerce Michelle Kwan into skating the full Grand Prix series. Michelle agreed to compete in Skate America, but no other events. So Cinquanta said, no, you have to do the whole series.

So then Michelle said, OK, I won't compete at Skate America. But then the USFSA flew into a panic at the thought of losing their biggest draw, so they arranged for Michelle and also Todd Eldredge to do exhibitions. That was when Cinquanta came up with the rule that you can't do the exhibition if you are not in the contest.

I'm not sure how Shen and Zhao fit into the picture. But it's not so much that IMG has influence over the ISU, but rather that the ISU has rules to make sure that all Olympic eligible skating is firmly under their control.

If this turns into a protracted legal battle, it could definitely interfer with Kim's concentration next season. She will just have to put all that in the hands of her parents' lawyers and focus on her skating.

Not just shen & zhao. Mai Asada also participated in the exhibition so this was definitely a stupid fight ISU picked with Yu-Na Kim.

ISU is totally out of control. I won't shed a tear if they don't get any money when FS becomes even less popular and irrelevant. Those corrupt officials should be sent to jails. If I were the judge, I would not hesitate to hand speedy a [harsh] penalty. He looks like a total Italian mafia.

Hi, Kandidy. Welcome to the forum. Post often, post long! :)

Kozuka skated great, tieing the world champion for third. I felt sorry for old-timers Yagudin and Eldredge, having to go up against an 18-year-old. :)
