Japan Open - more entries announced

I knew that Satoko and Kaori would get invited. They are the two olympians. Surely the organizers think they are more bankables than the other japanese girls.

Awesome for Deniss!

So there's the Canadian lady who everyone was missing in this competition. :agree:

I wonder if Evgenia will be invited, but more if she is, will she go? (since she just started training this week)

I don't think she would go even if she were invited... she just started training at TCC and has one more show in Japan in early June and Brian wants her to do a CS competition, I don't think she can also squeeze Japan Open in there, but I guess Brian will have the last word on that!

I think it is unlikely. They already have one russian lady, and i think they will rather invite someone from europe
I don't think that's a problem: it's from 2013 that the two ladies representing Team Europe are both from Russia, and Evgenia has been invited in the last 2 years. I think that, more likely, she does not have the time to do Japan Open, given that she will probably do a CS before the GPs, and that she has arrived in Toronto this week. But then again, Javi last season did both a CS and the Japan Open (though he was probably doing more competition during the Olympic Season, in fact before 2017 he only did Japan Open and no CS, when invited), so I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'd only be happy to see the rivalry between her and Alina right at the beginning of the next season :cool14:

They did have both Zhenya and Alina last year, to be fair! I think she's not gonna be there more for training\pacing reasons

They usually invite 2 Russian ladies and 2 European men.
Last year was Evgenia & Alina with Javi and Bychenko. The year before was Evgenia and Anna P with Javi and Florent Amodio. It goes back even to JO 2013.

Naturally I'm happy for Deniss (although I don't much like JO, generally speaking). But they haven't invited a Russian man since 2012...why is that?

If he didn't take part since all these years, i doubt it will be this year. Seems like he don't have a contract with an agency.

I would think that, if Zhenya gets an invite, she will likely go. She is doing a lot of shows this summer, so I suppose she wouldn't miss the opportunity.
I don't think arriving in Toronto this week matters much either, because she will do shows early in july, for example.

My thought on European ladies is mostly based on the fact that they have been inviting all russians for a while, and there is Kostner and Loena. Also not sure for how long Caro will keep skating, so they should grab the opportunity to invite her while possible.
