Ladies LP - actual competition

I really like Cynthia's dress. One of the most flattering I've seen on her - I don't usually like her skirts on her but this flowy one is much more flattering.

Cynthia is getting her jumps back - 5 clean triples! Step out on the 2nd triple lutz) and doubled flip, but good for her - huge smiles! Her jumps look so much more secure and she looks so much more confident.

Commentator thinks she cut her last spiral too short.

YAY!!! Good for her! She is ecstatic.

really rooting for her

cynthia phaneuf was FIERCE!

made some mistakes, and nothing special about her spirals and spins, but overall she had attack and a very nice athletic clean presentation on the ice.

she looked SUPER pumped up after her succesful 3-2-2, haha.

Wow! Cynthia Phaneuf has improved so much! She's so thrilled . . . good for her! She's 3rd!! Way to go, Cynthia!

Phanueuf was really good.
She got deserved it.
I couldn't believe it
She couldn't beat over Asada.
How shame the Judges are!

I'm not so sure which Nationals you mean. This year's Nationals, Fumie beat Mao in LP IIRC. But I agree she had an off competition.

I am referring to the situation if Mao had skated like she did at Nationals, and Fumie skated like she did here. :)

Cynthia Phaneuf, CAN

lovely eyes...

3t-2a strong
3lz great
3lo low landing but ok
2f too bad, came all the way down the ice for it
3s strong
spiral short?
3lz step-out -2t
3t-2t-2lo
exhuberant now!
last spins better than first one. mild traveling though. spins were better in sp

i get that same sense of finding-your-confidence caution as from Czisny, that is a bit off-putting (at least on close-up tv...), but in Cynthia's case i can forgive it more because she still expresses a lot more through the music IMO, and better basics and flow

108.43 -- 169.41 -- 3rd -- bravo!!

I'm looking forward to Caroline's skate. She's either gonna bomb or shock everyone with stellar performance.

She's using her last year's music.

Asada was just flat-out better than Phaneuf here. Though Phaneuf skated much better than she did in the past, her upper-body movements just still need a lot of work it seems, and her step sequence was really not that great. Over all, I think her whole performance lacked in excitement, and even more so, originality.
