P.S. I was surrounded by Russians at the ladies practice. Lady sitting next to me was humming Maria's SP music. Lol She seems not so popular as no one taped her run-thru. Any way she did a 3lz3t3t(ur) and a 3f1/2lo3s2lo :agree: Fell once on her first jump attempt 2a/3t(ur) but the rest of her jumps looked clean, no ur or pops. She marked her jumps during the run-thru. Also she really doesn't seem so slow from where I was sitting at least not compared to the other girls in her group :)

And it seems like the banner I made for her will not get hung. So sad :sad21: ETA: nvm, they switched out the banners and mines is up now!!!

Awesome competition, awesome skate :yahoo:

I hope she does just as well tomorrow!

Good luck Maria :agree:

At warm-up Masha jumped 3-3<, but in her program she finally did it clean. Definitely clean combo. And she got the highest score for it in the first half among all skaters - 11.50. But she needs to work on her spins and speed. She lose in GOE around 2-3 points, in each element 0.30-0.50. This is quite a lot.

Is it the camera or she has really improved her skating skills since gpf, it looks a bit more smooth here.

She's improving but like Buianova said in an interview, there's a lot still to be worked on. I hope one thing they work on is her 2a which has to be the smallest jump I've ever seen. Buianova and her students Sotnikova and Olga Markova all had big ones and looking at the protocol, Maria lost some ground there.

I was intrigued by her elegance like a butterfly before, but now I'm compelled to become her fan after reading that interview. Cool, sincere and self-aware. I especially love that she gave a shoutout to Jason Brown for his improvement sunshiny personality.

I changed my opinion about Maria after seeing her live at Worlds. I did think she was boring before, but really her skating is serene and peaceful, and very pretty, with good flow. That interview is fantastic; it shows a keen mind. "You can't expect me to shake my a** to Schnitke, right?"

What a good season for Masha

But....

let's not forget some of the best performances from her past:love:

She seems so nice and genuinely liked by the other skaters in all of the pictures of her that surface. I hope she can have another good season and make a strong case for going to the Olympics.
