I don't believe Evgenia will train abroad...Who will pay the Orser's salary? The Rus Fed won't, it's sure. In Russia the salary of coaches paid by the club or the state. For ex in the CSKA the skaters receive great salaries.. Duble financial loss for Evgenia.

You asked who will pay Orser’s salary! He will be paid the same way that he is paid now, right out of the skater’s pocket, the same as Gabby Daleman pays him.

Ok. How Gabby pays Orser?

And why she needs Orser? She was succesful without Orser.

I know Orser is the best now, but Evgeni is the best now. I don't think she wants Orser's help for a lots of money.

A completely untried coach is better than Brian Orser? Say what now?

And it's quite obvious she does want Orser's help; she sees reality of multiple benefits.

I know she earned a lots of money but she needs to live in Canada she needs to pay for everything..I don't believe..And I don't think she really needs Orser's coaching. I know Orser is the best now, but Evgeni is the best now. I don't think she wants Orser's help for a lots of money.
(I'm really curious about Evgeni's eraning to this day. $500 000?)

Oh no, she won't have any issues. She won't pay for it herself, and if the fed doesn't want to, her sponsors will do it. She won't have to pay a dime.
There are some organisations that can pay for everything you need to if they think you're worth it. It's just that we don't see that because there is no need for transparency.
You'd be surprise how much those organisations for some skaters can pay... sometimes it's 80K+ per year (for some skaters).

Not in the interview for sure. Doug is Brian's friend and colleague and definitely did not want to harm their friendship and working relationship by mentioning who it was. These refusals wouldn't have had to happen recently either, since they were talking not just about the men at the Oly but also broader coaching issues. I've not heard about any speculation from others but I've also not gone looking. I assume many skaters might not want that info out there, even if they are retired now.

True. I don't recall hearing any rumors either, which is a bit surprising because rumors usually spread fast when it involves big names in the sport. The last time I remember Orser's name involved in a coaching rumor was with Mao, which turned out to be false. That was still early in Orser's coaching career and he seemed to act differently back then. He was the one who volunteered to provide most of the information on that matter. The reason for his denial was loyalty for Kim, his current student at the time. But it becomes clearer with time Mao's side was never considering to train abroad and would not have sought out Orser or any other foreign coach. This has been further confirmed by Sato in recent interviews when he mentioned that Mao's mother requested him to become her coach around this time.
Perhaps that whole fiasco had made Orser become more discreet and mature as a coach, so if these denials of famous skaters occurred and there have been no rumors whatsoever, it probably took place after Vancouver.

I am curious to see what kind of results Evgenia would achieve with Orser as her coach, because she is different type of skater from the ones he choose to train in the past. If he does manage to improve her jump technique, it would probably change my opinion of him as a coach. As others mentioned, Orser's successful students in the past already had solid jumps before going to him. He helped with the final polishing so to speak and in preparing them well mentally for big competitions. It would be interesting to see if he could revamp a skater's jumping technique. There is a chance that Lee Barkell could be the jump specialist for Evgenia. He was Nobunari Oda's coach and Oda had beautiful jumps.

If Lil Bet and Gabby can afford Orser, so can Zhenya who has been winning everything or almost for 3 years and doing all sorts of shows, has a deal with Pantene, Nike, ecc ecc

In Russia or for a Russian skater?

In Russia or for a Russian skater?

Nope, Canada. At least for Patrick Chan and Virtue/Moir. The expenses were crazy, but then it was worth it.
Then you'd probably find the same for Nathan Chen for example. I don't know about Javi, but he must receive some great fundings being the top Spanish figure skater and representing Spain through figure skating.
In Russia I have no idea, but maybe you can tell me : How was it for Plushenko ? Did he pay anything between let's say 2002 and 2006, and after ?

If she thought that she was successful, why is she leaving her coach and coming to Canada? Good coaches that let you live your life, have a life, eat, drink and me merry and win Gold medals in the process. She probably had a great chat with Kaetlyn while she was in Japan. Who know, they could end up room mates...now wouldn’t that be a downer for some.🙂

Haven't given that any thought. I think she should move to Orser for her tech, and for better programs. Maybe you have a point with coaching environment in general, as well.

AS for talking to Kaetlyn, no, I think Med had this on her mind for a long time.

I can name a ton of skaters who have flawless technique on all their jumps and Yuna is one of them.

Also: Yuna did not do the loop because she had a back injury, not because she was unable to do it so it wasn't exactly her choice. Yuna did the loop when she was a teen and her loop was textbook like all of her jumps.

Doesn't matter why she didn't do the loop. The fact is she did not do the loop, so she did not have all 5 types of triples. Not sure how this is even debatable. Who are these "tons of skaters" doing all 5 types of triples perfectly? I can only think of Caro. Maybe Shizuka and Irina.

Hmmm the citizenship thing seems a bit fishy to me bc I remember her saying she doesn’t really feel connected to Armenian culture and she’s very patriotic. But at this point everything is possible!

Who cares about patriotrism when you have an OGM to win.

Also, this is definitely not an amicable split. If you were, Eteri and Sambo wouldve released statements already instead of letting rumors and speculation grow out is control. PR 101.
