I know Plushenko didn't pay anything. Mishin's salary came from the state and the choreographers' also. Plushenko and Mishin had a verbal agreement Plushenko paid him 10% of every earning and the rus skating federation also received from his money if he performed on shows. I don't know about the money from advertisements.. I don't know how it works if the choreographer is foreigner. I beleive after 2010 Plushenko paid everything for himself but he receieved salary, too. After 2014 when he was in the Russian National team but he didn't compete he didn't want the salary. But he received from the fed he gave it to charity.
I believe the Russian system is totally different.

Orser's students before OG 2018 were Javi, Yuzuru, Cha JH, Gogolev, Elizabeth. 5. With Javi almost retiring, there's space for 1 to 2 more.
Since most of Orser's current students are male, not surprising he's taking in a female student.

If she thought that she was successful, why is she leaving her coach and coming to Canada? Good coaches that let you live your life, have a life, eat, drink and me merry and win Gold medals in the process. She probably had a great chat with Kaetlyn while she was in Japan. Who know, they could end up room mates...now wouldn’t that be a downer for some.
Oh, I missed this news..Does Evgenia want to go Orser? Sure?

On Yuna's toe jumps - The edges were good, the lack of pre-rotation was good. But I really dislike like the hammer toe picks. Kostner's Lutz for instance is much prettier. And while Tuktamysheva has slight pre-rotation instead of zero, her toe pick is also far prettier than Yuna's. In fact, I might even prefer pre-rotated Lutz with a soft toe pick over a non-pre-rotated Lutz with a hammer toe pick. Regardless... Due to the hammer, Yuna's Lutz really can't be called text book or especially "perfect"... Why does she have to be brought here, anyway?
Anyway, Medvedeva's flutz isn't just any borderline flutz, I'd be very surprised if she managed to fix it by the time of the next Olympics even if she immediately begun working on it. We know how long it took Mao. Still, that has got to be the technical focus, right? That, along with the double axel. Still... Unless the plan is to actually switch to representing Armenia, I really don't know what she could now gain that she couldn't with Eteri... Perhaps the choice was psychological. But I still can't think of a good reason when considering it rationally... She has had amazing results. And I don't think that she'll be able to just add and add. I imagine she's going to be losing something, also. Hopefully that's not her consistency.

It will be. I imagine we will find out the answer to the discussion a few posters had around 20 pages back.
Orser also seems to think a lot about the dynamics of TCC so I imagine that Med's mental strength, drive and experience all attractive from that angle as far as giving his less experienced skaters someone to emulate (not saying there aren't other skaters they should also be emulating at TCC). Plus it's true we do have a proper little Japan in Toronto for Med to visit these days

Why is every thread in GS keeps derailing like this? Yuna retired 4 years ago, we should leave her out in the conversation. Her loop and flip have been debated since 2008 so all the talking points y’all are bringing up have been digested for a decade now. Give it a rest.
As for Med, she will clearly lose some and gain some here. Retooling her technique on her less remarkable jumps could take years, so that might take some of consistency. But if what she’s aiming for is longevity, and perhaps a different outlook on how she can improve, I don’t see the reason why she would not break ties with Eteri and find someone elsewhere? Whether or not Orser will be her coach, if her aim is still to win an Olympic Gold, no matter how risky this is (and it IS risky), it’s clear that she is willing to gumble here. I’m waiting until Monday to know who will be her coach, but as the saying goes, if there is smoke, there’s fire somewhere.
(But let’s not fuel that by introducing other skaters in this thread

Technique is somewhat relevant to Medvedeva's switch. The rest isn't.

Once she starts retooling her toe jumps, undoubtedly there will be inconsistency. This happened to Mao between 2010-2012, I think.
Yes she will lose some consistency, but how much is the question. Depending what jump will be reworked and how. Mao reworked practically all her jumps starting to land them as singles. Resulting that her 2010-2011 season was a total mess. She should have take a year off. This really did hurt her reputation.

Yup. But this video is less derogatory to Medvedeva and actually more regarding Eteri. There's no serious analysis though so don't take it too seriously. I though people might enjoy it for a laugh.
