Medvedeva leaving Eteri

Boyang will just go to TCC for a summer camp. And other skaters are not directly coached by Borser. Currently he only has Liza Tursyn as top lady. Med can be his no.1 lady IF they can get a deal.

Yes I know for Boyang but I read that maybe it would be a permanent change but also there is more information so it may still be a rumor.

Who she chooses I think that given her personality she will manage to maintain her best level, she is hardworking, so I do not worry about her.

but I still want to know his intentions

Come on, no way she stays at a rink when she's just split with the coach at that rink. I don't care what they say. Use logic.

Agree. IN is just reporting what the Russian media is being told at this point. IN doesn't have their own source ATM for info.

I'm going to suspect that Sambo 70 is temporary while she manages some calls/offers from some other places. I'm not writing off her going abroad just yet, but she is on limited time to make a transition.

I would be more happy to find out that Zagitova left Eteri (and has moved to Orser). IMHO Zagitova has much more potential than Medvedeva.

But goo attempt of Medvedeva to find her own way. I am sceptical she ever will. Little bit too late.

If she released this news? And she has.

Zhenya already knows where she's going. This is being done very professionally. She'll be fine.

Zagitova will follow the same path next year, probably, if the age eligibility for seniors stays the same.

What do you mean? We are talking here about coaches with years of experience, not only some months :O... Coaches that have a real reputation as coaches.
No offense, I like Plushenko, he's a legend, but stil has to prove himself as a coach.

Well, Adelina trusted him and he is a legend inside and outside of Russia. Even more so than Eteri and his presence alone is enough to make judges keep her in mind as a top skater. If she were to go to Orser or Raf, she wouldn't be the top skater in the rink and I think that's something she was used to and needs again.

Wow, I'm surprised. I saw the rumors and gossip about her leaving Eteri in her ff, but I didn't think they'd actually turn out to be true. Well, I hope she goes to Orser, then my favorite female skater and male skater will both be training under the same coach

I was hoping that, and i wish to see her with Orser.

I still think that part of the responsibility of hers silver medal was of the Eteri's group, in the undervaluation of the injury, program's structure and change over the season, while taking advantage of the rules for maximize Alina and set up a rivalry that have benefit Alina and also Eteri's school, after show how Eteri's work can potentially make world champions a year after another, juniors trained for beat the actual champion, that is training alongside you, while another is also taking that at an higher level (quads).

Do not misunderstand, i think that what Eteri is doing is extraordinary, consider how much awesome and extreme girls are growing alongside her at junior level and below, but i don't think that this is the best way a coach can support a more long career.
Actually, Eteri's School look more like a machine, an industry, perfect and shiny, for make girls that win a year and be beat the next, by another Eteri's girl. A newer version, that make obsolete the previous.
This can look good to us, but what about the previous winner ? I believe that Alina too will feel the same, on the 2019/2020 season.

I think it is a good move for her. With a better coach, perhaps she can improve her jumps and bladework. As a pure jumping machine, she can't stay on top, but if she continues to develop and refine her issues, she can have a longer, memorable career.

I honestly cannot believe that anyone thinks that the judges will NOT keep Evgenia in mind as a top skater just because she is leaving Eteri. Evgenia earned her reputation alongside Eteri earning her own, basically. Eteri wouldn't have her current reputation without Evgenia, and vice versa. Evgenia was with Eteri when neither of them had any reputation - it's silly to think Evgenia needs Eteri for high PCS.

She'll be the top lady in any rink she's in other than Sambo, and I imagine she would enjoy training with skaters who aren't threatening to replace her.

If she loves skating, than this year would be the best for her ( Zagitova) to leave Eteri. Zagitova has a charm, a personality, physical abilities... she just need a coach who is willing to develop her style, open her potential and not the one who targets medals for the medals sake. As for Medvedeva...too late... saw Medvedeva, Zagitova and Osmond in their group number in Japan... Medvedeva was the weakest of them for sure... no fluidity, some sort of stiffness... When she skates alone, then her theater/mimics disguises what she is not having as a skater... would be happy to be wrong and see her develop her own genuine style, but I think it is too late.

Averbukh about the situation (he claims Evgenia and Eteri will stay on friendly turms)

P.S. Ru community is talking bad about Evgenia, English-speaking community is talking bad about Eteri. In a perfect parallel universe nobody is talking bad about them.

Why is the Russian community blaming Evgenia? I would think she’s a media darling, since her past victories undeniably helped make Russian ladies competitive the way they are today. What are they saying?

Don't know why people are shocked. Makes perfect sense.

Her toe-jumps are still not done with the best technique. The -3T is less cheated, but still very bad. Her technique on combos looks worse -- she waits for too long before tagging her -3Ts. Her 2A technique is still bad.

I think it's not just about jumps, though. The way she has created her movement across ice has never changed. She still uses her arms and legs and upper body to create movement to almost drag herself across ice, instead of learning to naturally flow, use her knees, her core. It is just weird. Her edges aren't due to some great skill in the knee or the ankles, but rather they look like they come from the way she swings her free leg during her step sequences, to me. In fact, I haven't checked her previous performances to compare, but I won't be shocked if she's a little slower now than in 2016. She's grown, but her creating the movement hasn't changed, so it might have affected her speed.

I didn't think she would do it, though. But she has the will power. Good for her.
