Medvedeva leaving Eteri

I was hoping that, and i wish to see her with Orser.

I still think that part of the responsibility of hers silver medal was of the Eteri's group, in the undervaluation of the injury, program's structure and change over the season, while taking advantage of the rules for maximize Alina and set up a rivalry that have benefit Alina and also Eteri's school, after show how Eteri's work can potentially make world champions a year after another, juniors trained for beat the actual champion, that is training alongside you, while another is also taking that at an higher level (quads).

Do not misunderstand, i think that what Eteri is doing is extraordinary, consider how much awesome and extreme girls are growing alongside her at junior level and below, but i don't think that this is the best way a coach can support a more long career.
Actually, Eteri's School look more like a machine, an industry, perfect and shiny, for make girls that win a year and be beat the next, by another Eteri's girl. A newer version, that make obsolete the previous.
This can look good to us, but what about the previous winner ? I believe that Alina too will feel the same, on the 2019/2020 season.

I don't think Eteri can be blamed for Med's silver medal. It's not Eteri's fault that she has so many strong girls in her group, and as a coach, she has a professional duty to do her best for each skater.

I would love for her to join the dark side of Russian figure skating! [emoji48] LOL I'm ready for Gubanova and Sotskova to have another training mate.

Or I guess with Plushenko [emoji48]

Kidding aside, I wish the best of decision for her. Since the PC quad is over, might as well start fresh for Beijing. Eteri will be busier than ever with Kostornaia, Scherbakova and Trusova once they are senior-eligible for Beijing. It's not the same as in the PC quad when she only has to share with Alina for coaching as seniors.

Ok so options are

*CSKA - IMO bad choice as I can't recall any skater who improved since moving there in recent years
*Mishin - he can definitely help her with technique but I'm afraid of personality crash
*Rukavicin - again technical coach but his students have also great artistry. They lack of stamina and consistency but Evgenia already have them so it isn't a problem
*Urmanov - have no idea about him
*Plushenko - famous but lacks experience
Outside
*Lambiel - might be tricky choice. Just as Pluchenko is slightly inexperienced and I don't know how he can help Evgenia technically
*Borser - better choice and she would for sure get better choreo from TCC
*Raf - great technician BUT apparently his ice rink is going to be busy

They didn’t let her upgrade her layout for long.

An updated translation. Apparently, it's more likely that she will represent Sambo 70, but won't train there. https://twitter.com/jolselin/status/992469162172846080

So will this be like a “study abroad” experience for Evgenia, then? Work with some other coaches for a bit but come back to compete on behalf of Sambo? That’s not a bad idea, tbh. More skaters should go out and experience different philosophies and styles, to challenge themselves and improve.

I'm scared this won't end well... even if the training conditions aren't great, Eteri is the best ladies coach in Russia and I'm not sure the Fed will let Evgenia train outside of Russia :sad14: Who can she go to now in Russia that can help her improve?

(tsarina, go to Lambiel! #teamchampery)

This is a good question. Frankly, I admire her taking this risk. She may feel stifled in her current situation and I think she needs a new environment. I fully support this decision and I hope it works out for the best.

God grief I was not expecting that in a MILLION years. The off season is just going on dull as ever and then BANG - let there be chaos. :eeking:

The drama gods have hear our cries and delivered...majorly.

Seriously though, I wish for the sake of my productivity this news was released in 2 weeks.

Well, it's certainly an interesting change. It'll be especially interesting to see how Medvedeva's style actually changes to get a more accurate assessment of what team Tutberidze's strengths and weaknesses actually are. I think that that's the thing I'm most interested in regarding this.

This is certainly a positive for me personally, because it allows Eteri to have more time with my favorites. And should also allow Medvedeva to get more attention, assuming BOrser is who she goes to.

This is the definition of off-season bomb news really. And just earlier today I thought Duskova/Bidar split was unexpected.
