Well now that I've heard Carillo a few times, her voice doesn't seem so bad...just seemed kind of flat at first, not what you would expect of an announcer. And I really do like her comments. Thanks for the info on her.

I didn't see all of it, but I agree about the music. That was annoying. Isn't there an enclosed booth they could put them in?

Yes, they said Buttle. I can read But I read their comment as that Button and Hamilton had predicted Buttle would be top three because they are Canadian as well.

Is this going to be on every night during the Olympics?

This is an interesting program, and I appreciate it very much, but I don't like commentators just sitting in flimsy fold-up chairs and trying to shout over the music being pumped over the loudspeaker behind them.

The producers are trying to make the audience feel like they're in the rink with everyone else, but it needs to be less hectic and more professional. They said so much, so quickly, during the first half hour that I didn't get any of it.

Can we just have Jamie & David commentating all the time? Their comments were fascinating and insightful! I never knew David was so chatty.

(This show is on the USA Network, every night at 6 PM Eastern.)

Lysacek finishing over Savoie, that I can picture. But for Weir to not crack the top 5 is ludicrous, considering he skates with more ease and when healthy, physically and mentally (which he has not been earlier this season, his PR antics notwithstanding), Weir can skate with the best of them, a near-perfect program that is only marred by a poppep jump or slow spins.
Do remember that Lambiel's knee is questionable and so is his consistency with the 3axel, and to a less degree Evan's hips, and international judges "initial" response to Buttle's "new-ish" Samson&Delilah LP and sometimes error-filled LPs. Also consider Joubert's nerves and jumping
[in]consistency, Savoie's mixed international results, Daisuke coming off a very respectable GP season but with the heavy burden to medal for the Japanese fed,
and Evan's/Johnny's consistency and inclusion of the quad.

The only clear-cut guarantee is Plushy will finish in the top 2.

On todays olympic ice they showed an interview with T&M after winning their gold medals. The interviewer asked if they had seen the crash of the chinese pair, and what their thoughts were. Basically all they had to say is that they didnt feel bad for them because they had been overly agressive in the warm up and had prevented them from feeling secure in their warm up. I was shocked to hear those responses from TT myself. I thought I had simply misheard, but then S&P's comments made me realize that I hadn't (although Pelletier did say something like, "wow, I really hope something was lost in that translation."). TT's response was utterly inappropriate, although MM tried to salvage it.

I hope this "incident" puts Cohen's comments about MK in perspective now. Now those comments made by TT were less than gracious. But you know what- I won't hold it against them. In fact, in a way I like it that they said what they thought, even if it wasn't glowing. Not everyone is an ice princess. Then again, is anybody one?

Sasha at least didn't say "Hah, she deserved it, the beyotch" which is what Totmianina's comment amounts to (I don't even think Sasha was thinking anything along those lines. More like "Can I talk about ME for a change?" And understandably.) But this just made me dislike T/M even more. I have a certain sympathy for him (because he's obviously so nervous every time they do a lift) but her? Forget it. At least Moskvina's pairs knew how to sound gracious even if they were feeling anything but. I thought they were horribly blase about the whole thing anyway (ho-hum, a gold medal) but that was just rude.

Say what they think? Go ahead. But I hope she doesn't expect praise for being 'open and honest' when what she was was shallow and nasty. You won a gold medal, woman. Shut up and smile. Maybe she was just pissed because she knew if they'd LANDED that quad throw, they'd have won, off-time side-by-sides or no.
