Vivley, the banner is fantastic! :luv17: I hope Patrick sees it and is inspired by it. I am both envious and happy for you. I really wish I was in Vancouver for the Nationals. It's doubtful I'll be able to watch it as the men's competition will be shown on tsn2 only and probably not livestreamed.

Changing subjects, as we all know 4everchan has contributed much to this fanfest so I wanted to share this news. He recently "waxeled into slippery ice lol" and broke a bone. All I know is that it wasn't his "funny bone" that was broken as he is still wise-cracking (or maybe that was the meds ). For a very long time this forum was his community so I'm hoping we can all collectively send healing thoughts his way.

I was at the Nats last year and I felt the total admiration, appreciation and love the audience had for you. In the end I really feel that's more meaningful than placements, medals or titles. Go Chiddy!!!!!!! :clapper:

A big thank you to all who bring articles about Patrick which have been scarce since he has not been competing. I feel moved by all the love people here have for our man Patrick and happy for super fan vivley for being where Patrick is and will compete. I wish you a most enjoyable and memorable experience.

I'm glad Patrick is finding his peace of mind, focusing on the realistic Team Gold Medal and open to bonuses in his career. I too am open to all the bonuses from him.

Go Patrick! Be healthy and happy and may the Nationals and the Olympics be extra joyous for you.

I am really looking forward to seeing him again...gosh...it feels like forever ago. Makes ya realize how easy it is to take things for granted that we get used to counting on seeing.

I too miss 4everchan a lot and hope for a quick and smooth recovery for him! Im sure a Patrick sighting will be very helpful I saw a cool video of a snowboarder cruisin thru Montreal and thought of him the other day :yes:

Here is a NEW VIDEO from TSN about perspective beyond skating, with the meaning of DITW explained by Patrick (yet again). They picked BEAUTIFUL moments from SC to highlight in the program. Patrick wants to savor the moment but recognizes that it is fleeting at the same time.

The quad fall in practice did not look fun, but he got up and looked so calm and did a GORGEOUS 3A with no hesitation. I know it's only practice, but still he looked so calm when he got up. Patrick is one of those skaters who can pause without stopping, if that makes sense. The pauses are so fluid that they don't seem like pauses. And of course the footwork is out of this world! I was worried I had missed the SP already, but it is tonight, not last night. GO PATRICK!!!!!

Vivley, I'm so happy you'll get to see Patrick live very soon. That banner is BEAUTIFUL!!! Have a fabulous time!

As he approached the jump, it looked like he would skip it but then he surprised me with the quad fall. He seemed to slow down instead of preparing to jump. Maybe he did change his mind?

There are opinions expressed about this song being depressing and not motivating for the Olympic competition. I think it depends on how the message is received and lived.

For those who know Chinese and for Patrick, this is a Buddhist song I've been listening to daily for the last month. The words are inspirational and I love the voice, pure, with beautiful diction, resonating with the song's message. It is good enough to be yet unlike that of a singing star. Turned out it's a monk who sings it, no wonder it's so fitting and natural.

Hi all! Had a wonderful time my first day seeing Patrick live. Time flies when you're watching Patrick!

I must say that during the practice session today way too many fans left before the end of it. Because Patrick stayed through the end, they missed another nice jump, as well as his final bow. Oh well, their loss! I hung around after the end and saw Patrick's face light up and he smiled and waved at someone in the corner of the balcony. Turns out it was Mike Slipchuk with Patrick's parents, I think. What a sighting!

Wish I had gotten even closer seats so I could see Patrick more closely. If you look on Twitter, you'll see some video clips that I posted. While I would love to update the blog, it will have to wait until after the competition. Tomorrow I wish Patrick the best. Go Patrick!!

Patrick was away from competitions and is very unusual for him at this time of the season. I am very happy he looks confident taking this as a part of the process to bring his best performance back, which cannot be done overnight. Loved to see how he got into the DITW song so nicely

I wish him best of luck for the LP Go Patrick!

I was feeling impatient last night so I checked the competition thread right after Patrick skated. There were some dire comments in there. But I just watched the program and enjoyed it very much. I'm surprised Tracy didn't mention the toe pick issue. That's why he fell; there was nothing wrong with the jump itself. I wish he had had a clean landing on the 3A, but oh well. Beautiful 3Lz+3T!!! Loved everything else, obviously. Note to self: Always wait for someone to post in the Fan Fest after Patrick skates. (The competition threads are annoying to have to keep refreshing and then figure out which posts are talking about which skaters and, of course, the nasty comments when someone doesn't do well :noshake. Patrick sounds excited for the LP and excited to have mistakes here so he can fix them. He wishes there were more competitions, so I'm wondering if there's some club competition he could skate at or something. I would say go to 4CC but it's very close to the Olympics. He does have the Team Event, but I'm not sure if he'll be doing both programs. I wish him all the best in the LP tonight! :yes: FIGHT FOR NUMBER TEN, PATRICK!!! Show us your beautiful quads and 3As!!! And your triples are beautiful as well!!!

The commentary was rather boring for a Canadian broadcast. Tracy explained the glory of Patrick's footwork nicely. Rod mentioned Patrick "getting his jumps back," but the thing is, I don't think he ever lost them. Wasn't it two weeks he was off the ice and then started training again? From the perspective of the SC LP, his last competitive skate, where he fell on the 4T and did a bunch of doubles, I guess one could say he has "lost his jumps." But to me that only applies when you have an injury or have otherwise stepped away from competition/training completely. I suppose Rod meant "when he lands all his jumps again."
