I had a chance to talk to Patrick yesterday.

I asked about cars, and if he wants to do more with them when he retires. He said no, it's only a hobby, and that's he's actually trying to sell the one he has now.

His SP will be the same music as his exhibition program, just pared down to 2:50 from 3:00.

I did not pry into the details of his coaching situation.

He was very approachable and kind and even autographed a book for another fan. He readily smiled for photos. He's still very close to Scott Moir. :) Their bromance was on display at times.

You've seen the video from the game. He had a tough time with his duck. :laugh: Paul Poirier took the duck at the end, and he is planning to take it to Nebelhorn. I told Paul to take it all the way to Pyeongchang. :laugh2: So maybe it will become a good luck duck for the Canadian skaters. :)

I had a friend with me, or I may just have swooned. :laugh: Nah, he was very nice. He made eye contact with me while talking to another fan so I knew he was giving us the ok to come meet him. His eyes are so remarkable and expressive. He was also well spoken. I know people have an image of him based on his interviews and other media stuff, but in real life with fans or other skaters he doesn't seem that way at all. I also think he's very happy Tessa and Scott are back. It probably feels more like the excitement leading up to Sochi with Kevin, Tessa, Scott, and Kaetlyn all healthy and competing. :)

Thank you Mango! Such a nice post! It is almost like I feel the joy of Patrick and others in my living room thanks to you :) what a lucky fruit you are ! :) I think I have to go to Nationals now... it's getting late for me to get a chance to see him live..... and nope, it's not like I can afford to travel to Finland so Ottawa sounds like a good compromise.

Yes, Patrick is one of the nicest person on earth. He is sweet, polite, friendly, attractive, thoughtful......(definitely not the person with all those negative comments from the haters).

Aw, thank you for sharing, Mango. It must have been a blast talking to him! He seems to be in a good place now despite all the challenges. Very happy for you!

He's selling his car already? Which one? The EVO or the GTR?

Violet Bliss and 4everchan - I think that's precisely what they're going to do. Use that picture of Patrick and put it in front of another background. He's in front of a green screen background and in photoshop it's easy to zap the green out. If we could get hold of that image I'm sure his fans could do something creative with that. :laugh:
Do you remember that "McKayla Maroney is not impressed meme?" Where would we put Patrick? ;)
