For Calica and others, here's what Patrick said on the CBC video:

"At the end of the day, I know that they don't skate the way I do. They skate their specific style, and luckily, I think people really like my style.

I hope that I can still bring something new to the table... There's just a little sense of maybe a maturity on the ice, a little more command on the ice. It's hard to say that when they're doing all these quad flips and these quads that are... I never would imagine would be accomplished in my generation. But I need to kind of put that behind me. I'm doing my own work, trying to work into quad sals, including that in the program, so having three quads in the long, eventually. So I'm doing my part to keep up with them, and that's all I can focus on. I can't get carried away with how many rotations they are doing, and how many quads they are adding in the program, because my program on its own is already a lot, visually and technically."

Now I will add it to my blog post. Gotta go to bed now, ciao!

Thanks, Calica!

Well, I am wearing red and black today - good colors td cheer Patrick on!

FYI - apparently the ice at Marseilles isn't that great -

"So apparently the ice at Marseille has the consistency of a drippy popsicle...they just have to keep things exciting... #GPF16 #GPFigure"

Hopefully Patrick has no problems with it!

Time to stop my long hiatus for wishing Patrick good luck! :hap10: Actually it is the first time in years I can not go watch Patrick live when he is in Europe :sad46:, but I am glad I am home from work early to watch pairs and men. In Helsinki I am going to cheer for him live again!

Good luck Patrick-honey, stay on your feed and enjoy your short!

While we're waiting for the SP competition to begin...

Here's another new video on YouTube featuring the music from "A Journey" and Patrick talking about his blade curvature:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6p8RVltmbw

Professor Chan talks at 1:17, 5:28, 6:43 of the video. He gets very technical - his root radius is 7/16. ;)

Amazing short program. Much luck in the free. What a difference a year makes! :)

Patrick has always had a steep learning curve. Even if he had to relearn the competitiveness. And as David Wilson said, it's amazing how he's increasing his technical difficult at an age considered past prime for learning new skills, adding another 3A last season and the 4S this year.

Land that 4S on Saturday, Patrick! Just like you've done countless times in practice!

Happy to see a clean Chan. His SS are just so easy to watch. And, wow, is it getting to the point where I don't worry when he tries a 3A? Nicely done.

Okay, I almost bet my signed bottle of ice wine on Patrick going clean and now I'm really relieved I didn't. Really thought he would pass 100 but I'm happy with where he is at. I hope he's prepared for the FS and uses the day off to properly rest.

These are the times I miss Takahiko Kozuka, I think 2012 Worlds him and Patrick went around Paris together with Patrick translating for Taka. That brotherhood was the best.

A CLEAN SP FROM PATRICK -- FINALLY!!! :cheer: It's been too long!!! So lovely. I hope to see a high quality video soon that stays unmuted. Best of luck to Patrick in the LP!

Yay Canada for having red as its official color! And for Skate Canada for using it in the team jackets!

Yup, feeling very over the "cool" black jackets of the past several years....

Now if we (or Marina) could persuade Patrick that he really looks gorgeous in shades other than....black, grey, blue-grey...
