Patrick looks thrilled with his OGM. It only occured to me today that he's actually the first Canadian Man to have an OGM! So well deserved. :agree:

I've a confession/secret I never told anyone before. It was sometime between Vancouver and Sochi Olympics that I was trying out an esoteric means of prediction. I asked about 2014 and then the 2018 Olympics, as to who would win the Men's Gold. Assuming Patrick would be retired after 2014, I was putting out names of contending Men known at the time and none of them would win the Gold. Eventually, I threw in Patrick and viola, I got a Yes! This has been a puzzle and I hadn't thought much about it until yesterday when it hit me that he did win an OGM at the 2018 Olympics even though all along I was expecting a Team Gold for Canada.

Let's see what else will come his way. ;)
 
I'm really late but congrats Patrick :) It's really great to see him so happy after disappointment in sochi! Hopefully he'll be in the best condition for the individual event too :pray:

One of the issues with the Olympics is the lack of program videos posted on the web, because the ISU will not allow it.

I saw the LP live with Tara and Johnny first. They gave Patrick good compliments, but they COMPLETELY ruined the vibe. Bless you, Italian commentators, for calling out jumps only and talking after!!! :thank: My favorite moment was the 4T with the hop afterward and the way the male commentator got so excited about it! :love: There was such joy in that transition this time, like, "Yipee, I just did a 4T!!!!!" I'm sad about the 3As and the 3Lo, but seriously, the program is so beautiful. Another lovely moment was after the StSeq where Patrick is gliding on the ice with his arms out to the side and then brings them down. My heart, just to see him doing something so simple and yet so significant!!! And I'd better stop watching it now, because each time I watch it or even pause it, I find more incredible little moments!!!!! :laugh: Thank you for still skating so you could show us THIS program! It is the culmination of everything you have become as a skater! :bow: I hope to see it done cleanly, but even if that doesn't happen, THANK YOU for this program! These two programs are SO YOU!!! :yes:

I LOVED to see Patrick's BIG smile and joy in the K&C!!!!! He couldn't have smiled any bigger! This particular Canadian team has so many SPECIAL skaters!!! They're very different from each other but each have special qualities. Together, they are dynamite. Well-deserved gold medal! :hap10:

A serious question -- Other than Onyx, why hasn't Patrick been able to land a 3A in competition this season? He's done some beautiful ones in practice. Does he just have self-doubt and get tentative going in? Are there technical issues he can fix before Friday? I hope he can do his 3As in the individual programs. When he does land them, they are gorgeous. Land your 3A, land your 3A, land your 3A, land your 3A, land your 3A.....

In his short program in this team event, Chan fell twice, but still managed to finish third overall. He’ll skate his long program in Monday’s finale. “In a big way,” Moir says, “we wanna do this for Chiddy.” (That’s Chan’s nickname.)

“I think that’s what makes it so special,” Moir adds. “I mean, Patrick Chan, you could make the argument he’s the best skater that ever was … He was disappointed in his skate yesterday. I wanted to highlight again how highly Patrick's Canadian teammates think of him. From the Skate Canada article:

"In a big way, we want to do this for Chiddy,” said Scott Moir before the final day of competition, referring to Chan by his nickname.

“I think that’s what makes it so special.”

And then the beautiful conclusion:

It’s for their themselves. For their teammates. For Canada.

And, yes, for Chiddy.

:luv17: :luv17: :luv17: They really have such a strong friendship and bond as a team!!! The biggest stars of Canadian skating over the last ten years all accomplished this together! They did not all skate perfectly, but they created a perfect moment on the podium! CHIDDY HAS HIS GOLD MEDAL THAT HIS TEAMMATES FOUGHT TO HELP HIM GET. :yay::cheer2::biggrin: Now, are Chiddy and V&M and D&R all TRULY not doing Worlds??? The articles keep saying so, but I don't want to believe them yet. :cry:
