Patrick Chan

Patrick has finally come to the wisdom to tell his mind to shut the hell up and to listen to his heart and his body. So much mind chatter is impositions from outside. He is now focused on his inner objectives and trust his body and training. All his skills, best in the worlds in many ways, are now instinctual and he only needs to let them express themselves instead of hindering with doubts, demands, comparisons, extraneous considerations such as scores and medals, and all other distractions.

Let it rip, Patrick, with joy and confidence! I want to see that joy and confidence tonight.

Go Patrick! May the force/qi/prana/universe be with you on the Olympic ice.

I'm impressed he is sitting in the 6th place after having skated both SP and LP in the Team Event just one week ago:)

Patrick, the force/qi/prana/universe is with you so don't you bail on yourself with thoughts of how hard the 3A is and how unlikely you're going to get it done. Replay all the beautiful 3As you have done and be confident you will let it happen again.

Follow your heart and your body and shut the mind up. Just focus on the moment and flow.

Go Patrick! Your fans are with you too, adding to the energy of the force/qi/prana/universe. I hope you soar. I know you will if you let yourself. Don't try hard. Let yourself be. Know you deserve your dream.
 
First, I looked at the score and my heart sank a bit. Then, I looked at the protocol and it sank a little more. Even though I should have been asleep, I kept following the live scores and was very surprised about where Patrick ended up. HE MADE THE FINAL GROUP!!!!!! :hap85: Not with the clean skate he wanted, but he made it. Just now, I watched the program. I am BEYOND HAPPY that a no commentary video exists! :yes2: I am in heaven right now. I think this is his best DITW, performance-wise. It's my favorite DITW, although I didn't expect it to be before I watched it. 3A notwithstanding, each moment I felt like Patrick was giving it his all. SO BEAUTIFUL!!! :love:

Before watching the program, I assumed that the solo 4T was a mistake, but that must have been the plan, because it was nice enough that he could have done the 3T there and didn't. What the heck happened on the 3A? He got almost no height. Maybe he rushed the takeoff and slipped off the edge? It looked like a worse mistake than the team event.

My big dream for the LP is a clean skate. My little dream is one or two clean 3As. With the way Patrick talked afterward, I hope he hasn't totally given up on landing them. I want some clean Olympic 3As from Patrick, at least one if not both. Jeff Buttle's tweet perfectly sums up how I feel right now though. "Axel wasn’t there, but I mean, give me that kind of skating for breakfast, lunch, dinner and midnight snack every day of the week!"
 
Patrick let the big 3A error happen. Still the Universe was there for him and he's in the final group, similar to him ending up 3rd in Team SP. He needs to go with it with positive mindset of gratitude (for he has a lot to be grateful for which is not a feeling of indebtedness and obligation), acceptance (not just what happened but also all the good to come to him) and faith, in himself, in his techniques, in his worthiness, and in the supportive Universe.

Right now there is more goodwill toward Patrick than ever.

Ride all the supportive energy sent your way, Patrick.
 
Here's a post I just read from a Facebook page called Europe on Ice. "In a few hours Patrick Chan will step onto Olympic ice for the last time. As with any skater, we hope he can end this part of his journey on a high note. Whatever happens he leaves #PyeongChang2018 as an Olympic gold medalist." I could not have said it better myself!

Have you all noticed that lots people think Patrick's PCS should be higher.

I haven't bothered with discusiing scores for a long tme now. These days quads rule and PCS are a joke. Everybody's PCS is inflated while Patrick's skating is massively underscored. More and more people have become aware of this and I just recognize that Patrick's skating is beyond judging and scoring system and focus on enjoying and supporting his performances and personal goals.

I'm not sure what his future plans are but I would love for him to act as a coach or consultant of some sort because his beautiful skating needs to be replicated :luv17:.
 
and this is it. this is really it. i don't care about scores, since 2014 Sochi it was not so important for me as it used to be before. last 4 years the only important thing was just to watch him skating. these 4 performance in OG (most likely his last 4 performances) i just enjoy, relax and enjoy. hope he did the same.
and u know, i already miss him. I'll always miss him, his skating, his performance. now i just want to say him thank you for everything, for all, for memories. started follow him, started love him 8 years ago, his skating will stay forever on my mind, on my heart, and on youtube :)
 
Meanwhile Patrick’s Wikipedia page has already stated that he’s a “retired Canadian figure skater” :sad4:

I'm not 100% sure he won't do Worlds, but maybe that's simply me wishing he could do cleaner programs to finish on. :laugh: He hasn't specifically said no yet. But also, I'm not sure if he has enough desire to compete anymore. We'll know when the start list comes out, in any case. He could be quite helpful in getting spots for next year.

I think he wants to stop now, and if he does, he should. I mean, if Meghan Duhamel isn't going to Worlds....

If Nam and Keegan want two spots for worlds next year, they can go and earn them. Isn't that the way the Japanese federation does it?
