It's hotter than hades here in Ottawa. I hate humidity. 2 weeks ago we had a frost advisory, today we set a heat index all time record. It's too hot to do anything. I feel like the wicked witch of the west. I'm melting.....................:gaah::curse:

Way to slay that 15,000th post!

My daughter ran her first race today! 60 yard dash (55 meters). She finished. Since there were only two girls in the 3-5 age group she got a ribbon.

That awkward moment when you have liked a particular skater for a long time, but never twigged until now that she is from her country's Russian community.

I have no idea how I didn't twig sooner – her name is about as Russian as you can get! It's a lot different to the names you normally find in the country she is from.

Although, I suppose it doesn't help that I keep thinking she is from the country next door to where she is actually from... :

(Yes, there is more of a Russian influence in the names found in the neighbouring country. So, there was no reason to be suspicious).

Anyway, I found out because I was updating the video list in her Fan Fest, and the uploader of one of the videos (who was obviously a relative) had also posted a video of a similarly aged girl with the same surname playing some music. This girl turned out to be the skater's cousin, and when I looked her up on social media, her profile specifically said that she was a Russian girl from [insert name of the city and country that her and her skating cousin are from].

It's amazing what you can find out by chance when researching Fan Fests. If you run any, I would definitely encourage you to update them. You never know what you might come across in the process! :agree:

Sounds like what we had over the weekend. Ughh. It was SO awful, and it felt like an oven. Everyone was saying it even seemed hard to breathe...I saw it written somewhere the expression "It was hotter than Satan's crotch." :dev2: I would agree with that! If I want New Orleans humidity-laden weather, I'll go live there! :dumb: :hpull:

It was poetry
I'm at a workshop and last night, 1/5 of us did our readings (just 3 minutes each, so a baby one) but I'm not usually much of a poet so it was... different

I used to hang out at a place called Busboys and Poets in Washington DC and I was always so envious of those people who would get up and read poetry and spoken word. Getting in front of people and playing a musical instrument comes easy to me but opening my mind up to a room full of people to connect with...it’s very intimidating.

I’m envious of your opportunity to explore this art form. Hope you enjoy it.

But at least I've been exposed to the magic of skating montages of IG and watched like six trillion old ShibSibs videos.
