I emailed her and she answered.
She says they left San Diego County late last night and are staying with friends in nearby Orange County. They are not allowed back into Rancho Bernardo (where her house is) because it was so devastated by fire (their house survived). The police have their particular neighborhood in Rancho Bernardo completely closed off to everyone. Although there were no fires in Carmel Valley, which is much closer to the ocean (where she lives now), they were told to evacuate late last night, so they did. Even here in Orange County they could smell the smoke but nothing like it was in San Diego. It's really unbelievable, She knew a number of people who lost their homes, it's all so terribly sad. Madelyn, their furball, is quite content. She always manages to find a comfy couch are to sleep and snore on.

Madelyn is such a little pug... her attitude does not surprise me in the least lol

good to hear from her!

Thanks for the post, GrGranny.....glad to know that she's okay.........42

Hi everyone, I forgot my password and had to wait for it to be sent to me! :chorus:

Thanks for your good wishes, I do appreciate it. It's been quite a challenge. I plan on returning to my Carmel Valley place tomorrow unless I'm told I cannot, and I'll have my daughter and soon-to-be-ex with me (I'm such a good ex-wife!!!) because they cannot get back into Rancho Bernardo and we don't know when residents will be allowed back there. The devastation there is enormous. Even if they could get in, I would not want them to be breathing in the smoke.

This is NOT a good time for me to be a RealtorGal!! And just a few days ago I was whining about how bad business has been in the past few months, wondering if it could possibly get any worse! All I can say is OY VEY!

Unfortunately, we know many people that lost their homes, so having a place to stay temporarily as well as a place to return to is a blessing. Really, it is. I feel very fortunate.

The problem is that there are simply not enough resources to put out all the fires. The embers flying in the Santa Ana winds land haphazardly and destroy homes away from the center of any given fire, thus starting another fire. It's just surreal.

Madelyn and Zoe (our friends' dog) keep smiles on everyone's faces. :) They have no idea what is going on, all they want is a warm place to sleep and chicken treats.

Glad you (and everyone else) still in the area are OK, as well as your homes. I had no idea it was that bad down there; since I moved away, I can't keep up as much and all they talk about outside Southern California, is, apparently, the LA area. You watch the news up in Oregon and there is no mention of San Diego County at all, just Malibu, Malibu, Malibu.....:sheesh::sheesh::sheesh:

I'm glad to hear you are okay.
I hope you can get home tomorrow.
And I hope those fires are over with real soon for the sake of everyone who lives in the areas.

I hear ya, JC! They're listing all of the actors that are effected. Yeah, like they can't just drop some cold hard cash on another big mansion somewhere else... :sheesh: I'm sure they're totally devastated (yes they too can lose their homes and I do feel for them, but really compared to normal people they won't be DEVASTATED financially, etc...)
