Rika Kihira

Haven't been here in a long time! Hi guys! Rika is wilding in Colorado as expected :laugh2: here's a video of her & Camden Pulkinen doing side by side 3As! https://twitter.com/CamdenPulk/status/1086386850380558342

Just wanted to post this XD Tom Z is definitely having fun if it is him behind the camera. I am so looking forward to see more videos of Rika's time in Colorado as Tom Z often posts videos about his skaters there :P maybe a video of her Quad T or S? :D

The day I see 3 clean 3As in the same competition is when I'll stop worrying about her 3A

I prefer to keep the positive for me his 3A have greatly evolve when you know. that last year his success rate was not good, yes he only managed once to land his 3A perfectly in a SP, but I think it's awesome.

thank you for the video of her training :) she hard work, not long ago I read that she received a prize in her hometown.

Rika is back from Colorado. She said she can now land both 4T and 4S with one leg. I think this means perhaps she doesn't get them fully rotated but she's close since she's not double-footing the jumps(that's just what I'm assuming). She said she has a better feeling for the 4S.
Most importantly(for this season, since the quads are for next season not for the current one), she practiced with Tom Dickson, they worked on the choreography, focusing on the expression. "" Happy here "," Dark here ", the image to use for each pose." She said that now it is a more difficult choreography.

I can't wait to see the results from her time in Colorado!!!
With every competition, every performance, Rika shows more and more growth, always evolving. A true champ! :luv17:

Ooooooh shall we see both in competition next season? Or maybe even an attempt during something like Worlds or WTT gala? That'd be pretty cool.

Can some knowledgeable soul tell me if those quads are fully rotated or not? I am very excited, of course, but I want our darling lotus to have good technique too

I posted it in one of the Edge threads, where I'm sure it will get picked apart by Russia stans :p

I think the 4T is marginally ok (prerotation is a pity but not full blade at least) but the 4S is certainly UR. I'm not worried; she has ages to get it to work, and surely it'll help with stabilising that 3A. She's surely not planning to add both quads next season though. I'd have thought one per season.

Don't be so categorical, I predicted the Russian-Japanese "confrontation" 2-3 years ago and finally waited. So at least me is OK with her quads :hap10: (and RusFed will be even more interested in Eteri).

Nota bene: looking at how men's quads are judged, Rika has nothing to worry about.

Haha, I was just being tongue in cheek. Looks like the consensus is 4T is okay, if a bit prerotated, but 4S is under.

Yes, the 4 Salchow is her trouble child. She said before that it is her weaker Quad. Maybe during the off season she has time to perfect both. I wonder what her consistency rate with those jumps is.

After this trip I believe she said she had a better feeling with the 4S though, we’ll see.

Both of them are short in my opinion.

Not that Kihira had ever had perfect technique on her toe jumps, but that 4T is especially disappointing. :disapp: She is simply relying on excessive pre-rotation and upper body torque to rotate the jump and even so, it's still under.
But, the way quads are performed and judged in Ladies(and Men), why should she bother, am I right?!
I am hoping she can improve on the technique during Summer. At least she's not even thinking about doing these jumps in competition before they are secure.

The Sal looks UR as well but it is an upgrade from last time we saw it.

wow they look really good but yeah the rotation is kinda iffy
need good quality slow-mo to check landings
progress looks excellent tho

A little disappointed by the technique on her 4T, but still, very happy that she is still training quads and hopefully becoming more consistent. Just please stay injury free:pray:
