Senior FD

Patricia Stuckey / Christopher Mior

Loved their program. Especially how clever they were on sequential twizzles, mirroring each other. Lot of innovation on their lifts. Sarah Brightman's voice does magic on ice dancing.

Stuckey/Mior

"Harem" middle eastern-style.. Sarah Brightman?

beige, burgundy and like a dusty pink for her

skate with good flow, music builds in second half, so does their skating
not sure what they are trying to portray
constant movement type of program, and making certain "shapes" in character with music (lord, it is hard to describe dance! lol)
I enjoyed the last team more, though these might have had more difficulty
steady performance, need even more polish in their positions to move up, i think, and make everything "bigger"

received teddy bears wearing the same outfits that they (the skaters) are

68.65 -- 137.55 1st
slight disappointment at not getting a pb

Girard/Pelletier

Still Loving You - Scorpions
self-choreo'd

simple black grey & white costumes

They seem to have a good connection to this choreo (not surprising)
feels more "heartfelt" than last team
enjoyable program, feels genuine
perhaps lacking a bit of excitement/dynamics
crown silent during, but appreciative at end
commentator notes sl footwork section a tad sluggish, but i had been appreciating the long 1-foot section

i liked this better than last team, but last team had perhaps more difficulty/speed?
(not picking on last team, just easiest way to compare)

coach gives them a big congratulaions

75.49 -- 152.59

i guess the difficulty had been there... they did a good job of making it seamless

Lamoureux/Mee

Claire de lune
choreo - Wing/Lowe

soft and romantic
some nice highlights, but minor stumbles
i'm liking the choreo, gentle and effective
the naturalness of last team impressed me more, but this is close
engaging
perhaps last couple of teams had slightly better flow? (not sure on screen)

77.65 -- 155.01 1st place

Ralph / Hill

st. james infirmary blues?
old fashioned 20's clothes from around the house

he impresses me a great deal, almost overshadows her (i'm sure they'll find the balance as the grow)
some good character and choreo, admittedly a bit juniorish at this stage, needing polish, if you're going to judge them against the best, but lots of promise
very good spin in both directions

commentator impressed with integrity of program & concept
and ice coverage in certain moves
big cheers from audience

81.78 -- 160.99

they are well pleased

Hann-McCurdy / Moreno

piano prelude - (debussy?) I missed it
blue costumes, "ripped" effect

good speed and edges (easily best so far),
but i find them a bit stiff
holy complicated curve rotational lift!
commentator commending them on speed

i found this perhaps the least engaging of all the programs in this flight, *on screen*, but perhaps with the speed and flow needs to be appreciated in the arena.
sort of minimalist style, nothing fancy. idea of flow definitely important here, so again, hard to judge on screen.

commentator sees lots of improvement from when she last saw them

79.41 -- 160.36 2nd place

slight disappointment, happy with skate

Hann /Moreno rotational lift was insane. She did some serious leg movement. I was waiting for her to accidently chop his head off.

Continuing on the topic of zamboni time replay

Canada's top 2 worst costumes in men

1. Emanuel Sandhu 2007 LP- the banana rama costume
2. Kevin Reynolds 2009 SP -

And as for Vaughn's SP I never get tired of it. He is totally cool. Kurt found the perfect vehicle for him that brings a man out of him.

English site is still working (though only within Canada)... maybe they cut out for a break during ice resurfacing?

Last warm-up group on the ice:

11 Siobhan Karam / Kevin O Keefe EO
12 Andrea Chong / Guillaume Gfeller QC
13 Kaitlyn Weaver / Andrew Poje NO
14 Vanessa Crone / Paul Poirier CO
15 Tessa Virtue / Scott Moir WO

commentator says audience is charged...
