World, 4CC, Jr. World Teams announced

I think is quite unlikely anyone will decline the 4CC invitations unless they got injured or sick. (Is it true about Abbott??). IN ladies it will be first major ISU championship for Flatt and Zhang and Czisny's first international as a serious contender. In Pairs, again first major ISU Championship for M/B and D/B, plus Inoue/Baldwin seem to want to stay competing forever. The 3 dance teams wills surely go aiming for a medal. Only in Men I can see Lysacek skipping.

Plus 4cc is in the olympics arena which makes it a big plus for a lot of skaters.

thanks Ms. Swan...aka LeCygne ;)

Haha you're welcome! And from my SN, you can probably guess how upset I am that Johnny was left off the World team. He's had a rough season, give him a break. He was the ONLY American to bring home a medal last Worlds, that's gotta count for something. And there's still nearly 2 months before Worlds for him to recover, I don't think Mroz would be able to do any better than Johnny.

Thanks for posting!

Oh, I hadn't realized. Wow, I'm sure everyone will just be picturing themselves there a year from now.

These selections for Jr. Worlds are horrible.

Who has ever gone to Jr. Worlds, then Sr. Worlds, then back to Jr. Worlds? That's a very strange situation for Ashley Wagner and I don't think it should be allowed. She is a senior now.

Worlds- no surprise. And probably the right decision, dare I say it, given the circumstances.

Nagasu REALLY needs to rest that ankle of hers, if what I heard around Cleveland is any indication. I hope she turns down JW.

Actually the only person I feel for here is Wagner. I feel the way most other posters do that this is a step back for her. She should have gotten Four Continents instead in place of Czisny (I think she's got some other event in Feb. and we don't want to burn her out). Zhang DEFINITELY should do 4CC's. As for Flatt, I guess it couldn't hurt but I wouldn't be disappointed if she did only Big Worlds and gave some other skater a chance at a Big Comp.

They REALLY need to make a new rule where the moment you enter the senior level grand prix circuit, you cannot go back to junior level competitions.

This has been a strange competition and I think the decisions the USFSA has made just tops it off.

ITA. I mean how weird will it be for Ashley? She hasn't skated on the junior level in two years, has made remarkable progress in the overall quality of her skating and truly skates like a senior lady. In no way should she be going to Jr Worlds. And Adam already won Jr Worlds, I don't think he'd want to go back.

Why not give spots to oh, say....Gilles, Musademba, Maxwell...even Bereswill.

Well, if Ashley doesn't want to go then she can turn down JW. In assigning her to JW, and also Mirai and Caroline, USFSA is sending a clear signal that they are behind these skaters over the other up-and-comers for 2010. It wants to leave it up to them to decide whether they want to go back or not.

can we say boo! this is just plain stupid. Didn't Ashley go to Senior Worlds last year and suddenly now she is back to Jr. worlds again? Caroline and Mirai already made two trips to Jr. worlds and they competed at senior level both nationally and internationally.

With the exception of men's, the teams have been announced.

Interestingly, Mirai, Caroline, and Ashley were picked for Junior Worlds. I guess the US wants that sweep again... I hope Mirai stays home though. She needs to rest that ankle. Caroline too actually, 4CC will be enough and she needs to get to work on all of her issues for next season.

I agree with Feraina. It is entirely appropriate for USFSA to offer the opportunity to compete at Junior Worlds to the 3 highest placing, age eligible, skaters that are not going to Senior Worlds. It is also appropriate for any or all three of them to decline that offer.

One of the questions that I assume they have to consider is if declining the offer might mean they are less likely to get Grand Prix assignments this fall. A quick glance at the standings seems to indicate that they would probably remain in the top 25 without going to Junior Worlds.

I think it's a good idea to send Mirai to Jr worlds as long as her ankle injury isn't too serious and keeps her from skating her best when the time comes. She hasn't won the title yet like she was expected to last season. Caroline already won that title, true,, but she's amazingly talented and the best choice if the us team wants gold -they've been losing face internationally as seniors since the bomb at last season's worlds. Too bad only 2 girls can go- I agree that there should be a skate-off at 4CC so Caroline has a chance to prove herself and go to senior worlds. That frees up a spot on the junior world team which should by all means go to Angela Maxwell instead of Ashley Wagner who should do 4CC and prepare for next season. Going from senior worlds to junior does seems kind of insulting. Or Laney Diggs(jr worlds) if Caro just does 4CC and Mirai is out with an injury.
Angela Maxwell has become a very elegant, artistic, and beautiful skater since her novice days as just a technical skater.
Next season I hope to see Angela at Jr Worlds along with DeeDee Leng, Ellie Kawamura, or Christina Gao.

Well, frankly, I think the US is sandbagging the event. These girls aren't Juniors. This team was sent TWO YEARS AGO - and swept the podium. What's the point in them whooping a bunch of junior level girls?

Mirai doesn't need to injure ankle even further. Caroline is already going to 4CC - and she should spend her time fixing the horrid jump technique and taking some stroking lessons. Ashley went to Senior Worlds! Think past 2010 for once, USFS. The team should be Gilles, Rizo and Maxwell.

If it's about earning 2Gp assignments, they already has their shot at that during the GP season. Looking at the top 25 scores, Caroline & Ashley don't have anything to worry about. Does Mirai really deserve 2 GP assignments based on her skating this season? I love her - but she doesn't.

I wish the ISU would make a rule about forbidding SGP competitors to return to Junior Worlds.

I'm so so sad for Ashley!!! She won the freeskate, she deserved 4CC!! I hope Alissa will pull out of 4CC pronto so Ashley can go. Alissa needs to rest, do her collegiate thing and be solid for Worlds. Ashley on the contrary is a SENIOR not a Junior. Making her go to JR Worlds is embarrassing.

I would like to hope they aren't MAKING her go, but are just offering her the opportunity. She could decline it if she wishes.

Agreed.

Oh, I'm having the worst weekend! My two favorite skaters (Caroline and Johnny) both had disappointing results and didn't get to go to World's, and my favorite tennis player (Andy Murray) just got dumped out of the Australian Open! Everything is going all wrong.
