I actually do kind of like her dress but shake my head at whoever's decision it was to use that shade of purple. Other than that, I've got no problems with the sequins and beading. This one looks like a slightly better fit while the first one looked a bit matronly.

I think it'd be perfect if she kept the sequins and beading but made the fabric all in black (no purple). And maybe make her hairpin red instead of purple. Something tells me this isn't the last iteration, though. Her dress maker is obviously experimenting/adjusting things.

No, you're all going in the wrong direction. The fabric needs to be all purple. A more reddish hue of purple, like the Tyrian purple of old. A fitting shade of purple for a dress one would wear to claim one's second OGM.
I think all black hair including black flower or pin looked really striking in the all black dress.

I like the lines of the new purple/black dress. It's sharp on her, and makes her look even taller and more elegant on the ice.

Well, the funny thing is after Golden Spin they said Yuna wasn't going to alter anything other than minor fitting adjustments to make it more comfortable. Then came Nationals and all of a sudden her dress turns half-purple/half-black with a whole new design on the front. (!) And this happened to the dress that people actually liked (as opposed to her SP dress that got some backlash). So I'm not really sure they'll keep it as is. In any case, I'm fine with this costume for Sochi, though I still think an all-purple or all-black design would be more elegant.
I just had an interesting idea....
What if she kept the purple to the area of her left shoulder only (or gradually up the left arm sleeve). Rather than the entire left side of the dress. I wonder how it would look with just a touch of purple?
If that doesn't work, I'd still like the all black.

Fair enough. And I totally agree with your last sentence. Also, I think that perhaps this dress looked great on paper, but magnificence doesn't always translate from paper to 3D. Hopefully she will change the color scheme of the LP dress--I no longer care (that much) about the SP dress.
For me, personally, I think the dress should be all black, but the detailing (sequins, etc) should be mostly purple.

She needs to keep her original costumes haha.
