Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

So that He really go for the NHK???

:bow::cheer::bow:

EDIT: Just read the article, seems that he will not join the NHK.... (yea, I know that is not trustworthy...but still)

Selling tickets a year and half in advance is just insane!! I want to go to both if I can... But I'm failing to make up my mind for next year's Worlds right now. The 2nd round ticket sales just opened a couple of hours ago and they're selling like mad!!

Also, I went to check out the Boston worlds website since you mentioned it, but the tickets seem very expensive? Best seats for Shanghai is only CNY780 (equivalent to $128USD), compared with $1295 USD for best seats in Boston... The difference can already cover the return flights from Canada to China...

Yes, they are a bit expensive....but $128 for Shanghai for the entire event...all 7 days?? Doesnt sound quite right? But if it is, wow, thats super cheap!! The Boston worlds tickets are for the entire 8 event (SP and LP for each discipline) plus access to practices that take place in TD Gardens. Stupid thing though, the EX gala is not included.

Good luck to you getting tickets in Shanghai, plus a visa!! 😄

We won't know. We will just have to wait but I don't want him to push himself too hard. I think Ms Kobayashi did the right thing to stop asking about his participation when she contacted him.

My friend said Ms. Kobayashi talked with him at the beginning of this week so maybe his condition has improved. I don't know. Let's wait and see.

"He can walk normally! But is still in pain". 'Nuf said. That doesn't sound like he is fully healed. Quite apart from his other injuries, ankle sprains can be very serious. Adelina has a cast on her ankle. My ankle sprain (tore 2 out of 3 ligaments) took more than 6 months to heal. My physical therapist said a bone break would have been faster and more straightforward recovery.

Perhaps Yuzuru will consider not participating in the rest of Grand Prix so he is fully recovered for Nationals and Worlds. I hope he withdraws from NHK. Brian is in Japan by now? (does anyone know)?

Adelina has torn a ligament as far as I know. A sprain and a torn ligament are two different things.
(Feel free to correct me if my translation abilities are failing me here, but a sprain does not automatically mean that you've torn a ligament.)

Sorry just realized $128 for each event, and full package (9 events including gala) for $1029 which makes a lot more sense!

The most commonly used classification of sprains is the one adopted by the American Medical Association:
Grade 1 – stretching of a joint capsule and ligaments (mild damage)
Grade 2 – stretching and tearing of ligaments and a joint capsule (partial tear)
Grade 3 – a complete ligament rupture (complete tear)

There is also classification based on which lateral ankle ligaments are affected

So if Yuzuru has a Grade 1 sprain, then he could have a stretched, not torn ligament(s). One can hope.

Seems like my torture is about to continue for another week.
No idea how reliable this info is. I'm keeping the faith though.

@bonesfan
ok, you've proven me wrong, my bad  I just assumed that they'd use "sprain" as it would be used in everyday language. In my experience people no longer call it a sprain as soon as a ligament is even partially torn but actually say that they've torn a ligament. At least that's how it is around here, but things might also get lost in translation a bit. But what do I know anyway ;)

Yuzuru was told by the doctors that he would need two, three weeks at most to recover. It was also said that the contusion to his thigh was the most serious of all the injuries. If he had torn a ligament I'm sure that a) it would have been mentioned and b) the estimated recovery time would be much longer.

Is the thigh contusion because of the accident or the fall during the Lp?

Some interesting comments from Han Yan about how he feels after the accident with Yuzuru (wonder if Yuzu feels the same?)

He said the consequences of the Cup of China incident has an impact on his performance more in a mental way, rather than physically.

"From time to time, I felt unsafe in rink and could not let it, " he added. "It bothered me a lot."

"Some times I can't help looking back over my shoulder to check if there's some one else, even when I was skating along in a competition."

Han Yan placed 10th after short  He is obviously not up to his full potential and probably still in pain after that collision! I hope Yuzu is ok and will perform fine... :cheer2:

Yes, I don't think we will really know for sure until the day before or something...keeping us in suspense! :drama:He said he could walk normally at the beginning of this week when she last checked in with him. Well, at least he is able to recoup in relative peace and quiet surrounded by loved ones.

Apparently he has said on camera before that he'll be looking forward to the GPF every year for his birthday(as his birthday wish?). He is turning 20 years old this year which is I think the most important milestone in Japanese culture. No doubt that is adding to his desire to compete in the GPF.

Feel sorry for Han Yan and I can completely understand his mental state. I felt my own heart quicken last week while streaming the Cup of Russia and viewing the warm-up. Especially when they do a closeup of a skater skating backward preparing for a jump, I just have this unknown fear. Truly hope this will not become an issue with them in the future.

Dont have plans for this years Worlds...but i got tickets to Boston Worlds!!! They assigned the seats already!!! Talk about having to buy in advance to get good seats!! Will you go to Boston??

Yes isn't it insane? I bought my tickets to Boston too, so I guess I'll see you there! I know the tickets to Shanghai Worlds are selling like mad; apparently the ticketing office employees all know by now that it's mainly because of Hanyu-san. They ask everyone who called " Are you there to see the Japanese teen boy? "

 Seems like he's still far from fully recovered. Considering how he looked at the end of his LP... He wasn't even 100% when he entered, then the crash, then the falls... I admire his tenacity but I hope the people around him will give objective advice.

Right now, I'm actually trying to relatively stay calm before the possible storm. ;) But honestly, I hope everything turns out to be okay for Hanyu (get well soon)!

Oh cool, you got tickets for Boston too!! The on-sale for Boston was a disaster eh?? Im actually surprised they are not already fully sold out in shanghai.....even in CoC....there were reports that they were sold out and people couldnt get tickets, yet i saw many empty seats...very strange.

I'm going to try to go to Boston too. But only for the mens session. Whether or not I'm going to the SP and FP will depend on when those 2 events will be on and what the schedule of classes for my spring 2016 semester of college will be like.

I really want to see Yuzuru skate live so badly!!!
