And seriously people who think that he would be fine by practicing alone should recheck the whole situation.
When it was in the GPF series: CoC - 10 days off ice - several days of practice for NHK - one week of practice towards GPF - one week staying idle because of pain in the stomach - several days practice for National.
In short, he was mostly coachless in those times BUT he had the momentum, his body still maintained the necessary muscles to jump and spin as well as glide on ice. So in those days, his body, even though was tired out, was still in the competitive state regularly.
This current situation is totally different, he was off from practice for almost TWO MONTH due to doctor's advice. All the muscles to jumps, spin and glide on the ice have been lost during that whole period. His body has lost its momentum. Staying off ice for too long means he has to rebuild all the muscles again. You think one months is enough for him to come back to his top form?
Being off ice for ten days up to two week is totally different from being off ice without adequate practice for two months!!!
I'd say it's over-optimistic to think he can do this all alone without Orser's team. People should save their hatred for Orser for another time. You think he doesn't need his coach and he can practice alone still get very good result? That sounds like little sense of reality, especially in his current state.
I might sound harsh but seriously just think about it, other guys are all praticing well, with guidance from their coaches, they don't have to stay off ice for too long, they don't lose their muscles, they don't lack practice... If Yuzuru wants to compete against them, he needs to get back to full scale practice right now, unless his ankle injury doesn't allow him too.
I hope Yuzuru has already started building up his body, and the current delay of going to Toronto is truly for the sake of his leg. Because if it's just because he has grown too comfortable to the surrounding and doesn't want to leave his hometown, then he'd better say goodbye to WC due to lack of preparation.

: I think we shouldn't have an all or nothing mentality. I'm more inclined to agree with what Meioma has said in the past: medals don't matter, he's won it all (except 4cc ;P), and as long as he's happy and skating; as he was at gpf, even if he fell, he was happy just to be skating, smiling when he got up, and at world's I don't care if he falls twice again, if he still smiles like that
so to me, top shape at 4cc means nothing, I'll probably put Javi above Denis too, even though there's high chance Javi might end up being Javi. But what Meioma's talking about about muscle loss is the major problem, and what was the major fear for me with surgery. On the plus side, it probably gave him time to properly heal the injuries he garnered in the first half of the season. On the minus side, he's at risk of injury right now (like what happened with the knee in 2013 W after the flu; they'll be more prepared this time probably), I hope he's not too pressured about spots(I fully believe in the other skaters to be able to retain 3 spots though), and he needs time to build muscle back. Was he off ice for two whole months though? I thought it was one month? or one and a half at most? Any way, even the weeks that he was off icein bed in the first half of the season probably lost him some muscle too, the fact that it's one thing after another isn't good.
