Olympic Champion and “Figure Skating Queen“ Yuna Kim named PyeongChang 2018 Games Ambassador launching a new iconic role to promote the Olympics

SEOUL, November 4–The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG, President Yang-Ho Cho) appointed world famous gold medal Olympian and “Figure Skating Queen” Yuna Kim as Games Ambassador on November 4th, in Seoul, Korea.

The newly appointed POCOG Games Ambassador will be a great asset as she will play a high profile role promoting the Games and engaging the public as she participates in major domestic and international events. Queen Yuna will also be an active participant in the POCOG on-line promotion and advertising reaching out to the youth.

Yang-Ho Cho, POCOG president stated, “As a Games Ambassador for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, we expect her to take the lead in promoting the Games to the world.”

She will be THE face of the 2018 games. She will be everywhere there!

Doesn't matter who wins OGM, she will preside over all the proceedings as the country's biggest sports celebrity (or public figure, period).

And I agree with those who posted that they want Yuna to perform "Homage to Korea" at the Olympic FS gala. Tears will probably be shed when the strains of "Arirang" start playing. (I know I will having learned the song and what it means to the Korean people.) I'm confident the Korean people ẅill do their best to make Pyeongchang every bit as successful as the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Very good to hear but, like most, I'm not surprised. Given how instrumental she was in winning the bid, I think it's only right that she play a big role in promoting the games. I think it would be very touching to see her perform in the gala but we'll have to see if that happens. If it did, count me in as one who would love to see her skate to Homage again.
