Congrats to everyone! :hb:

I think I prefer Alaine over Gabby. Kaetlyn vs. Alaine vs. Gabby could be quite entertaining going forward.

:agree:

Daleman was okay, but I would have given the title to Chartrand. Daleman did not have the big ticket combos that the international judges are looking for, which Chartrand had. I also thought Chartrand's program was more sophisticated. Chartrand had better spins. At the least I thought the margin in the long should have been greater.

Do they both get to go to worlds? If so, it might actually be a boon to Chartrand to be able to go without all the pressure of the national title on her shoulders.

I think Canada has only one place at the words.
But I hope Canada has two because although the Canadian ladies can not compare to Russians ( I think Chartrand may) but they can possibly beat US or other European ladies.

Canada has two spots at Worlds. Both Gabby and Alaine get to go.

I think this is the closest Alaine has been to Gabby's score in a head-to-head in the last couple of years. I think Alaine might overtake Gabby next time. Really, it could have gone either way today.

We have two spots.

And yes, as I said Gabby seems to be the favourite, but realistically I think Chartrand is the one who can actually put up a fight internationally.

true.
I am very glad that Canada has two spots.

I feel bad for Gabby. You can clearly tell that her injuries are holding her back. It wasn't a perfect skate but I'm glad shes going to Worlds, hopefully she'll be healthier there.

Yay! I'm glad both ladies get to go. Chartrand should work on not two-footing. That's usually a confidence issue more than anything else.

Scores have been tallied for the Canadian Ladies Predictions :) Posted in their respective thread.

When Alaine is clean, she does beat Gabrielle; I think the Canadian judges will do the same as the international ones. Gabby just happened to be cleaner across two programs in this competition. (Yes, she got higher PCS in the LP, but that's 'cause Alaine fell. When they had the same amount of disruptive errors in the short, Alaine received the higher PCS).

I really liked watching Veronik. Hopefully she can increase her difficulty in the future.

I am sort of excited to see how the Canadian Ladies' will develop over this next cycle

Nothing out of the ordinary here in Canada lol.

Sadly so true. Canada has always struggled with the ladies with a few break throughs Liz Manley and Rochette. Some hopefuls like Chouinard and Osmond but she seems perpetually injured. Some faint hopes that faded - Lisa Sargent and Karen Preston. No wonder Jennifer Robinson was on top for so long - no competition.

It will be nastier with only one spot next year if Gabby or Alaine don't make top ten or was it twelve to get two spots.

Just a question...does Gabby have some Asian traits? I am just curious...I was happy for her win today. Alaine was also lovely...

To retain their two spots, they have to have a combined placement of 28 or less. So even if they finish 13th and 15th, that would be enough.
