2025 Canadian Nationals: JR Women | Jan 15-17, 2025

Lia just seems to get skating - at her age, her ability to hold and work her landing edges is just so impressive. Her basic skating is also so strong, and she's a really great performer - you could see her adapt her facial expression when the music changed to become more upbeat, and she's clearly listening to and comprehending the music. That was a really impressive skate.

what did we see here the return of the legendary figure skater Lu Chen vs Ksenia !

And Romeo and Juliet music is one of my very very favorite sound pieces

I'm still freaked out. I've seen Lia compete from streams but I did not expect to be drawn in by her interpretation and musicality. It is good we are moving to men and pairs and synchro because I would be comparing our senior women and Lia would probably still win my heart. They're lucky most of them will be done competing by the time she gets eligible.

I'm envious jealous, not nasty jealous
I hope you have the best time! I really need to save and once go for Canadian Nationals one year...100 crowns challenge for every skater lol ;)
This year would have been convenient and good for you in terms of location. It may be I'm Ottawa next year. If it is true, I have been there and it was fun but not as easy to get to the rink from my hotel
Busses were full
No subways
I ended up walking all the time... It was okay... Not too cold 🥶 but we never know with Canadian winters

Will Lia be junior GP-eligible this upcoming season OR the next one..? I truly hope I can catch her at at least one competition once she can be sent...

I walked all 3 days in Montreal, 25-30 minute exercise much needed after big coop in my seat with crowns lol. I *think* I can manage, but we shall see how finances will go this year.

I walked in Montreal too last year. But Ottawa isn't as easy for pedestrians. At least, from my limited experience haha

Btw. I think I spotted Don Jackson and of that was him, he was amazed at Lia. He was looking at her with a huge grin on his face. Of it's not him, then it was another VIP haha

Bravo Lia ⛸️ 👸
She was so confident all week long!
The big crowd didn’t phase her! It actually made her skate better!! 👏
Some athletes are just born as stars and she definitely is one!!

Lia achieved one of her goals with this skate. It was the first time she scored level 4 spins on all of her three spins 👏
Also, if her team learns to put the 3S in the second half of her program, she would score 70+ in TES with that 0.50 boost.

I heard that she wanted to go for the 3A. But, her camp didn’t want her to risk and fall and then shake up the rest of her skate. Kaetlyn mentioned she has seen her land the 3A in practice, but, it is always under the quarter, at best. That they say she has landed a completely rotated 3A, but, that Kaetlyn has never seen it.

Congrats Queen!!

@saine With this Junior Canadian National title, is Lia eligible to compete as a Senior domestically, next season, despite still being a Novice skater next season? Maybe, she can go for 3A domestically in both SP and LP next season 😜

Also, I think Skate Canada will give Lia and Ksenia, a Novice international event. Lia already skated Cranberry and won. But, i hope they give her another event. Maybe, those two can go along with the winner of the upcoming Novice champion, crowned next month.

Sandrine is the best Junior skater that wasn’t assigned an international junior event. Maybe, they will give her an international event since she surpassed the 147 benchmark.

NextGen is becoming more interesting, with the addition of Ksenia and Minsol to our Junior pool, for next season.
