2025 Canadian Nationals: SR Free Dance | Jan 19, 2025

Yay, yay! I wanted to watch tomorrow but couldn't help myself. Getting better and better every Dance (except for Nadiia and Peter who did better than yesterday, so jumped up a little bit). A wonderful firebird, glad to see Marie-Jade/Romain and Alicia/Paul are still close, but Alicia and Paul were the better ones today. I am not even going to talk about 2 and 1. Sensational ending of the competition. Kudos!

I cried, I laughed, and most of all enjoyed. It was great!

I'm just so glad they had clean, confident outing there.
They really needed a clean and brilliant competition here after the uncharacteristic big mistakes they had during the grand prix. They're in a position where it doesn't matter that it was a nationals event, you can bet everyone was watching. They needed a clean slate and new energy moving into the second half of the season.

I hope that Lauriault/Le Gac get 4CC. It would be nice for them to have a chance to finish off their season on a high note.

Watched Piper and Paul. Wow. WOW.
Don't know even how to articulate how this program left me this time, but it was definitely too short. It was sublime in a very particular way and design that I'm sure is not everybody's tea and that's perfectly fine. What got me, in some teary retrospective, was how far they came actually when it comes to balance out skill and artistic approach towards material/package - for me, they are truly like fine wine: getting better and stronger as they go.
I absolutely love reworked choreo between assisted jumps sequence and one foot, adds to the overall theme and amps the whole thing. I think I liked GPF spin version more (? I think it was a bit different??), but THAT TANGO CHOREO SEQUENCE IN HOLDS just takes the whole cake and cake platter.
I guess I'm just "spellbound" of sorts by this FD, aside of my totally biased and non-objective opinion. The program just creates something fleeting and fragile, but painted with such strong strokes, moments.

But I still loathe Paul's backless jacket. ;)
Funnily enough, I liked it better here. I think it looks like they have maybe fitted it better to him now? Anyway, I would still prefer if it was a darker red, rather than the orange-red.
OIf judges were fair they yreally should be given consideration for world gold. But the judges love Chock and BAtes even with errors. Get ready ffor the US National Inflation championships I think scores of 93 in the SD and 139 in the FD are expected.
Well, now they know the numbers they have to shoot for to outdo Piper and Paul, so you're probably not far off, lol.
