Keep in mind PCS isn't just "musicality" or "style" there's a whole checklist of things, including transitions, which Soyoun's program could have used more of.

That headcase was a two time national champion and a GPF champion.

Absolutely - but you see that in the other disciplines too (not that it's right, just that it's not uncommon). Just compare someone like Kotvun to someone like J-10 - a huge PCS advantage in Kotvun's favour, which is mostly based on reputation, in my opinion.

Funny you should mention Czisny because So Youn is turning out to be EXACTLY like her. Inconsistent skater who always looks gorgeous on the ice (So Youn doesn't have those beautiful layback spins though...), let's hope she gets that Grand Prix Final title one season then

No, I don't think so. A skater is best if she/he really loves the music. It's not about the fans. But skaters should select the music themselves instead of coaches or choreographers. They know what really inspires them.

True but if I were a skater I would think my fans sometimes know me better than I know myself. And it never hurts to have input from your fans and I'm sure they would appreciate that (obviously the skater gets final say). It seems so many skaters just pick the warhorses or have it picked for them so it would be interesting to see if a skater could put their faith and fate in their fans just for a season. It would certainly get more buzz than the typical music selections.
