2015 Worlds Ladies Free Skate March 28

Sorry, but I find Elena and Satoko completely lacking in grace & musicality. No artistry. I don't know how they placed 2cd & 3rd. My friend and I were shocked that they scored so high.

"Musicality" is subjective. I for one, am a huge fan of Satoko, but not that much of a fan of Elena, figure skating wise, but I'm happy for both.
Though I do agree with you that many people were overscored tonight.

thanks… so satoko does this since she doesn't do the 3Lz+3T in the FS while most girls will do 2A+3T and a triple triple… got it… thanks.

She was doing the 3Lz+3T and second-half 2A+3T all GP season in the FS but kept on getting UR calls for it, so she switched to two 2A+3T in the second half, starting from Japanese Nationals, since she was getting almost all of those ratified.

I know Liza has limitations and her programs are not the most elegant thing in the world, but I'm surprise with so much criticism. She has been skating this programme the whole season, and looks like just because she couldn't do her best today, her skating becomes the ultimate horrible thing of all the times. She deserves a break.

Time to go to bed for a few hours. Setting an alarm for 7 am for the men--we'll see if I actually get up though.

Maybe, but I feel Mao has a taste of freedom life without skating and I don't she has any motivation to comeback. She doesn't want to go to next Olympic, she has money and has won almost anything in the sport.

Everything except the OGM. Mao is probably one of the fiercest competitors to ever grace the sport. If anything I see her coming back to redeem her Sochi performance. Although her FS from Sochi may have been enough redemption for her.

I'd say it differently, you are allowed to repeat only two kinds of triples, and at least one of them must be in combo. The max amount of 2A in one program is two, but they don't have to be in combo in other to repeat.

Btw, you can do 2A-3T and 3Lo-3T in the same skate, but then you can repeat only T and Lo.

Okay, true, 2A is not technically a triple, but as someone pointed out not too long ago in a thread, a 2A is (in the rule book) categorized as a triple & a 3A as a quad.

Some protocol analysis:

- Gold's "e" on her flip cost her... had it been a clean edge she would probably have bronze

- Wagner got ! calls on both lutzes as expected and UR calls on her 3T and 3S (which is pretty fair)

- Radionova was 6th in the FS!!! -- her 3S was called UR and cost her 2.5 needed for silver

- Hongo got an "e" call on her second lutz but only a ! on the first -- I have no idea how her 3S on her sequence was called UR because it looked like the strongest of the bunch and she had great flow going into it; on the plus side, she did crack 60 PCS for her FS, and a personal best FS of 122

- Edmunds got nailed by URs - on her half-loop, on her 2A (which I thought was UR when I saw it), and on her 3L; would have been a personal best/higher Worlds placement; ! calls on both 3F; but still a strong skate

Ludicrous GOE/PCS:
- Liza got a 0 from one judge on her 3-3, even with a turnout in between; 2 judges gave her opening combo with turnout a +1
- One judge gave Gold 6.75 for TR, one gave Hongo 6.25 for TR, one gave Liza 6.75 for TR
- A judge only gave Hongo's 3F(huge!)+3T a 0 GOE
- Some judge gave Murakami 0 for her 2A which clearly had a bad landing

Thanks so much for summing that up.
Just shows how figure skating competitions are these days.

yeah… they are playing code of points quite well… I "personally" would not allow the same exact combo twice ;) but that's just me :) and I would also give a point deduction for every type of triple jump missing (but the 3A)…. it's nice to see variety and really helps seeing clear technique on the jumps… I am guessing some girls who don't own a clean flip would be pissed off to read my comment :)

A judge gave Ashley 0 GOE on her 3Lo-1Lo-3S :slink:

The top of the podium is fine. Not awesome. Not spectacular. Just fine. Except for that 3A in the short.

In this competition, "just fine" was good enough to deservedly win the gold medal.

The rest... well, it really doesn't matter.

A judge gave Ashley 0 GOE on her 3Lo-1Lo-3S :slink:

Also a bad call, given the < and awkward exit off the salchow.

Funny enough, the only 3 skaters to land a clean halfloop-3S sequence were Pogorilaya's 3L-1L-3S, and Dasa Grm's and Nicole Schott's 3T-1L-3S.

I decided to tune those comments out:biggrin:
Like really so who deserved it more than her here????

This sport is really changing.

LOL. "Lacking in grace" compared to which skaters though?

Yes ok, but the big difference is that you don't have to do 2A in combo in other ro repeat. Just wanted to clear that out, becauae technicaly you repeat only two kinds of triples.
