2015 Worlds Ladies Free Skate March 28

Michelle Kwan & Sasha Cohen :slink:
As I said this sport is changing.

I'm sorry to say it, but every current skater is lacking compared to Michelle and Sasha. But this is not an insult. They were truly special and can be considered legendary. It very difficult to top them.

I know Liza has limitations and her programs are not the most elegant thing in the world, but I'm surprise with so much criticism. She has been skating this programme the whole season, and looks like just because she couldn't do her best today, her skating becomes the ultimate horrible thing of all the times. She deserves a break.

Let's get something straight. Her program isn't bad because it's not elegant but because it's entirely devoid of any real choreography. She basically skates around in figure 8s and circles while do arm movements. Regardless of anyone's aesthetic preference the program is just empty.

Gracie should seriously consider incorporating 2A-1L-3F into her program. I've seen youtube of it in practice, and it was spectacular. Most importantly, there was absolutely no question about the edge in the flip. Maybe not having the time to set up and think/concentrate on it will be the fix.

No question?! But how would she get an edge call on it solo but not in a combo?!

Also, bad idea. Because with an "e" call on the flip, the -GOE is applied to both jumps.

Liza deserves the gold, but it wasn't the best skate I've seen from her. Satoko was stiff, jumps were still tiny, with a fall besides, I don't understand the high scores she has been getting. I much prefer Hongo, her jumps were big, I thought she deserved higher TES and should be getting more +GOE, ought to be ahead of Satoko and Gracie.

Rika doesn't have the best landing or air positions and also her flow out of her jumps is not good, her presentation is very weak, I'd take a wooden Gracie over her anyday, also Gracie and Satoko have better SS and spins, figure skating is not only jumps

A Mishin program that's devoid of any real choreography... winning Worlds, at that. Why that's never happened before!

i think they should reform the system even further to make sure that there's fairer GOE… the judges already get to do non-sense with the PCS..it's enough :) I like the mandatory -3 for a fall.. a turn in between two jumps of a combo should definitely get an automatic minus… argh..
Because it is judge number 3 on Liza's protocols. They only randomize them from skater to skater....not within one skater's scores :p

However, after the half Loop the skater has a much better chance to stay on inside edge, you land half loop on tne inside edge so it is much easier.

Congrats to Liza. If there's a silver lining in her flawed FS and not-world-record SP, it's that she's got a lot of room for improvement and can set some new goals for herself next season. I admit I was rooting for her win. Granted, her programs were a bit over-scored but she's now top dog and that comes with the territory.

Oh gracious, I grew up to those two and are huge fans of them, but you really need to let that go. I don't think the current World medalists match up to those two either, but if you keep this up, I don't know why you're even still following the sport.

Yep, pretty much. She has nice jumps tho... No shade but this is the first WC were I will not go back and watch the winner's skate. I only liked Satoko's programs of the podium finisher's.

Yes ok, but the big difference is that you don't have to do 2A in combo in other ro repeat. Just wanted to clear that out, becauae technicaly you repeat only two kinds of triples.

Yeah you're right, sorry for not being clearer in my orig post :)

I thought I was almost the only one happy for Satako. I think she's pretty much the only refined skater on the podium with good posture, polish and great choreography. It's too bad Ashley messed up on the short and hopefully Gracie will get some moving programs next year.

However I do miss the complete skaters with great technique and artistry..oh never mind.
