2015 Worlds Ladies Free Skate March 28

Has anyone noticed that this WC podium is somehow similar with last WC's?

1) Gold medalist with 3A, won both segments
2) Little Silver medalist, 3rd at SP (I don't mean their ages, it's about how tall they are. And actually Julia is not that small but still she has an image of 'a little one' for me)
3) Bronze medalist, 2nd at SP, 6th at LP.

Well, meaningless, I was just a bit bored :p

I really like to read this thread btw
The difference of opinion is quite fascinating
What others describe as tacky & non musical & only jumping & all & then compliment Gracie for example who I find pretty boring, polish to me is actually can be a bad thing. Something clean & impersonal...
I like when a skater has her/his own style even if its not 100% perfect or polished or whatever

Its really incredible to see so many different styles of skaters like for example Miyahara, Meite, Li & Liza all in the same comp.

Rest Well! Maybe she should skip the Gala?
I just hope she wont be doing a Bodyuard EX with the lying on the ice & everything
I think she will take part in the Gala
She loves performing & the crowd loves her. Imo she gets so much good vibes from it that it may well help her recovery. SHe wont need to worry abt elements & all.

Wow! That's interesting! Are we going to see something similar in Men?

I feel very underwhelmed. I don't know what happened in China but this wasn't a succesful competition. Too many mistakes from too many skaters in all competitions. I remember last year there were so many good programs that we were arguing who deserved better. I am very happy for Liza but that gorgeous triple axel took out all her energy and concentration. She had the weakest intrepretation of the season for both SP and LP and I was disappointed. Her LP from GPF was perfect, so much different from this one and in spite of that she received the highest component mark. Everyone was so nervous. Those who had bad SP did better LP and the other way around. I was also suprised that many jumps looked underotated and didn' get called. I wasn't very convinced by Myiahra's skate and some of her jumps looked borderline in bothe SP and LP. I guess she just got lucky this time. At least she should have been happy about it but she looked like nothing happend.
Gracie had a clean program but the same as Liza was so concentrated in the first part of the program and that ruined averything. She looked so scared before every jump.
Ashley wasnt't 100% also. Elena almost collapsed. I can't belive there was no skate to remember and so many contenders who were able to impress. I don't want to even think about Anna. What happened there??

Alright, I thought the ladies' SP segment was the worst competition ever except Liza's 3A landing, but today's LP is much beyond that. :laugh2:
You'd never know what will come tomorrow. Every competitors in the event lacked fire.

Heh... I have originally set my alarm for 4am but glad I went back to bed. Decided at last minute not to lose any beauty sleep to the predictable outcome of 2 Russian and a Japanese for the podium... and the likely chance ALL of them would have been over marked. The only surprise was Elena in 3rd.

Physically it would be like staring at Junior World Podium, full of tiny people. From speed reading this thread, am I right in think the medallists FS wouldn't even last at 2015 Junior worlds? I do wonder if Satoko's scores would be the way they are if she had skated for some where like Vietnam.

Anyone know what is the rule regarding inadvertent turns/steps between jumps intended to be a combo? Does the tech panel have discretion on whether to call it one combo or two distinct elements that take up two jump slots? Current example would be Liza's combos in her LP at Worlds. Curiously they were still called combinations despite the turns.

I thought so too. I'm surprised they're still considered combos. But I'm not an expert.

Did she stay on one foot and on the same edge? You have to stay on one edge....I thought that was the rule. Otherwise it becomes a sequence.

Does this count as change of edge : link ? Play it in slo-mo. :)
She landed on outside edge, turned with inside edge and then turned to an outside edge for 2T. This got me so curious.

By far the worst world championship ever. Aren't we all gonna say goodbye to pogorilaya? She is NOT coming back after this.

Oh, please, she was injured and had only 10 days for practice. :disapp: She is one of the two who has increased the World spots for Russia.

I agree that this is the worst World competition ever though.

Pogo was not in good physical conditions at all. No one knows what will happen in the future. Never write off anybody. I thought Liza taught people that you.

I just woke up and saw the ladies results.... What.. The... Heck... Happened?!? SplatFest2015. I'm kicking myself for falling asleep early last night instead of staying up to watch the livestream, I figured elena had silver in the bag... Yeesh. So happy for Elizaveta though, can't think of a more deserving world champion.

I can't help but wonder if Yulia was watching and maybe feels a bit better about her own devastating season, not because she's glad Anna and Elena did poorly, but because it might be a bit reassuring to know that other Russian girls on top aren't infallible either. Heck, how about Eliza, 10th at Russian nationals last season and look at her now.... I'm sure both Yulia and Elena will be filled with fire for next season.

I have a problem with Rad also. Both women look immature. The japenese girl's program lacks sophistication. The choreography is comparatively simplistic. These things should matter more. It's the only way to distinguish juniorish skating from women champions. And, it's not only the age. They kept Kwan off the podium until she was more complete, even though she could out-jump anybody. This was correct.

One thing I notice in Rad's skating is that her legs are rarely togeather in step sequences, transitions. Takes away from the line. She may not be clumsy but it looks that way. Just not in the same league as Kim, Kostner, Gold, etc.

The Japanese girl has a name, Satoko. It just looks awful that you'd refer her by nationality here while still mentioning Michelle and Elena by their names. Might not have been your intention but I thought I'd point it out to you.

Elena is a growing girl and it looks like to me that she's still trying to get used to those legs of hers. And of course she's not in the same league as Kim, Kostner, etc. Yet. But they weren't at the competition.
