2015 Worlds Ladies Free Skate March 28

If anyone is narrowly looking at size, it's you. Satoko's free program is by far the best of the ladies this season. The judges ding her plenty for the tiny jumps but she should be getting higher PCS.

I have a problem with Rad also. Both women look immature. The japenese girl's program lacks sophistication. The choreography is comparatively simplistic. These things should matter more. It's the only way to distinguish juniorish skating from women champions. And, it's not only the age. They kept Kwan off the podium until she was more complete, even though she could out-jump anybody. This was correct.

One thing I notice in Rad's skating is that her legs are rarely togeather in step sequences, transitions. Takes away from the line. She may not be clumsy but it looks that way. Just not in the same league as Kim, Kostner, Gold, etc.

Remember, this is the first post-Olympic year, and a first time to Worlds for many of these girls. Give them time! Anyone remember Michelle at age 15? I see a lot of potential out there!

So, only 4 ladies had the same placement in the SP and FS

Liza, who came first in both segments and overall
Rika, who came 5th in both segments and 6th overall
Polina, who came 7th in both segments and 8th overall
Giada Russo who came 24th in both segments and 24th overall

What a strange event

I think Mao is the one with most changes of returning. I can't see Kostner making a comeback. As for Yuna, I have a feeling that the Korean fed will ask her to return for 2018. Who knows.

Congrats Satoko! -What a surprise.
I really felt for Radionova, but she is young and next year could be her year.
Well done Elizaveta. A well deserved win.

and special mention to Rika. 6th is a good first placement. :cheer:

Of course they are not on the same league as Carolina and Yuna is their first World Championship.
But according to the medals in their necks they are better than Gold at least this year

American ladies shut out of the podium again, and so close, too--4th and 5th. Cruel figure skating gods, haha.

Satoko should have the highest PCS. Her SS is the best for me. Her TR is also the best. Best CH, best IN.
Second highest PCS should be Gracie. Good SS, CH is meh. IN is meh. PE is good. TR is ok.
Third should be Liza. Decent SS. CH is horrendous. PE is ok. TR is meh. IN is questionable.
4th Elena. Decent SS. PE is bad. TR is good. CH and IN are bad.
5th Ashley. Below average SS. Below average TR. Meh CH. Good IN and PE.
6th Rika. Decent SS. Great PE. Average everything else
7th Murakami. Good SS. Average everything else.

i think they should reform the system even further to make sure that there's fairer GOE… the judges already get to do non-sense with the PCS..it's enough :) I like the mandatory -3 for a fall.. a turn in between two jumps of a combo should definitely get an automatic minus… argh..

I mostly agree but .....

I don't really like the idea of forcing GOE from judges and when I saw a few judges give Rika only -1 for her "e" call I kind of smiled. I don't like seeing a fully rotated triple jump with good air get only 2.66 points because of an edge. That is 4 fricking points reduced from a 6.60 BV  My solution is far too simple to ever be taken seriously.

Stricter calls from the tech panel with less harsh penalties combined with stingier standards for handing out completey unrestricted GOE from judges.

I'd give a 3pt deduction for any fall but let the judges simply determine the GOE based on the fall. I would love to see the worlds first +3 across the board "perfect" fall.

Not to pick on Satoko but even her fully rotated jumps should score -1 GOE compared to most skaters +1 jumps IMO. Yet her 2a-3t combo picks up +2's somehow in the WC.

Overall standings - Rika Honga and Polina Edmunds were held down I feel (I'd have both placing 2 spots higher), Gracie Gold held WAY up - would have put her 12th in the SP, 5th in the LP, and 7th overall. Really sad that her listless LP can be considered 2nd best at the biggest event of the year. It wasn't even that great technically (and I'm saying this disagreeing with the 'e' call she got in the Flip even; the edge was definitely not 'e' worthy).

Oh gracious, I grew up to those two and are huge fans of them, but you really need to let that go. I don't think the current World medalists match up to those two either, but if you keep this up, I don't know why you're even still following the sport.
I know, I am seeking therapy and crisis counseling and am letting go a little everyday. j/k
I know, I am a fan of Adam who can deliver Michelle-esque moments on occasion. I love the sport, but it is getting harder to get excited about the skaters. I enjoy Ashley's program and some of Gracies but I don't put them on par with the legends.

Sorry, but I find Elena and Satoko completely lacking in grace & musicality. No artistry. I don't know how they placed 2cd & 3rd. My friend and I were shocked that they scored so high.
This sport is really changing.
Really? I thought Tuk was lacking in artistry. Ashley and Gracie should have gotten the highest PCS, to me. I also think Satoko is very musical.

Liza's pcs might be over-score but at least her FS is entertaining and unique. Far from cookie-cutter program. I can't say the same for her sp though.
