2015 Worlds Ladies Free Skate March 28

Really miss Yuna, Mao, Carolina, Akiko, Alissa like crazy, *gulp* even Miki. The new generations really have a lot of catching up to do. It will be interesting to see if Ashley continues this year, I hope so... somebody has to re-establish the legacy of Supergran Carolina in this sport, and she still got a few more years ahead of her. Same goes out to Kanako, I hope she can finish her career on a high and please stay way from anything Andrew Lloyd Webber like... or anything from Lori Nichol's music library.

Thing is, I'm Mao fan but I don't think that Mao at age 17 had better SS and musicality than Satoko and I don't know if Shizuka, Akiko and Miki were more complete than Satoko at that age. We're at the beginning of a new quad. A complete skater can't be made in one season. It takes years of training to reach expertise in a profession. For me, 17-year-old Satoko has done everything within her ability. Her team is well aware of the jump problems and I'm sure Satoko is going to skip her beauty sleep if she could have Lizza explosive jumps, but they won't be fixed in a season.

I am not a fan, but Gold deserved Bronze, imho. Rad's skate was extremely sloppy and underwhelming.

I am not sure why so many people are surprised with the outcome. We knew it's going to be a fight between Japanese and Americans for the podium and that's what we saw. The only surprise is Radio giving away her 2nd place.
No shocks to me.
So Pogorilaya is done. I am intrigued what the Russian team will look like next year. So many possibilities.

I have disagree. I am fan of Satoko because because the quality of her skating is the closest thing to Mao from this generation. But at 17 Mao was more impressive than Satoko.

Bravo to Gracie and Ashley for scoring 4-5! And congrats to the podium! The take-away I get from this competition is that there is no heir apparent and the judges are paying attention to technical elements and artistry. Although Eliza's triple axle gave her a huge lead in the short, without it she would have been right with the others and it could have been any of the top 5's championship. That 3A is a great weapon but a vulnerable one. Lose it and you're back with the pack. I'm happy for Eliza that she deservedly won. But this was not a performance that will go in the books as great and frankly I think her artistry is over marked in recognition of the good jumps. Both Eliza and Rad are young so lots of room for growth on the artistic side. But then lots of Russian jumping bean youngsters are on the horizon. This should be an incentive for the rest of the world that there is room for other national world champions who can embrace the technical and artistic side of the sport. Take a breath - and then back to work, ladies!!

I have no problem even if Satoko receive among the highest choreography and skating skills among the current field, but it is her GOEs and other aspect of her PCS made me weary. These 2 areas which she excel at alone do not make a complete skater especially when there are areas where she is clearly flawed but are hardly reflected in the score. If one can be annoyed at Maxim Kovtun for getting undeserved PCS, one can get annoyed Satoko are getting undeserved tech components. I think her scope for improvement is limited that is the only reason it stops me invested in her. Compare her and how much Rika improved from beginning of the season to the end, the contrast for scopes for improvement is even more striking.

I thought the LP was sloppy enough to be considerably lower than Gold's. Their SP difference wasn't that large.

After THAT:shocked: sp, Gold getting a medal would have been a crime against humanity!

And really really really unfair against Elena who, yes, was sloppy enough to be sick at the wrong time, but still did an absolutely amazing job considering the circumstances. And has had an unbelievable season.

But yeah, let's give Gold a medal shall we, for...um...well, absolutely nothing!!!

Oh man, these people....:rolleye:

It was almost 9 points. And it should have been at least 10. Gold shouldn't have been above 60 with that SP (essentially omitted a triple, and had no combo), and arguably Radionova should have cracked 70.

It alwayyyyys happens with every competition, but why do so many people forget about the SP and cry foul and say skaters got robbed after they've buried themselves in the SP?!?!? :rolleye:

Gold didn't even have a clean FS (albeit still a very solid one)... her lip cost her 3-4 points, and the second lutz had a stepout.

Judges got a bit carried away, or got complacent with the Liza's GOEs and Components I thought. This was not a great skate and shouldn't have broke 130.

For example in choreography, Gracie should be at least 1 point higher but not the case. This is when having an all European panel can make the crucial difference, especially when they have rewarded Liza European champion with 141+ only a few weeks ago.

Well, I can only hope it doesn't come at the cost of her programs, because those are what she really needs to work on. One 3Axel from her is already enough of a "wow" factor I think. Or at most one in the SP and one in the LP.

I'd love to see improved choreography from Liza next season. Who does her choreography now? Someone who is a package deal with Mishin? I think Shae-Lynn Bourne could do wonders for her.

Hehe so much sabre rattling, very Russian. Like Adelina's boasting wanting to win all the gold in the world. May be they announce it so early to deter certain veteran's return...Tsk tsk tsk.. lets hope they do the walk and not just talk the talk.

At least there's actually a grain of credibility in Liza's boast about doing more 3Axels, unlike Adelina's boast. ;) I can totally see her going for three 3Axels. As for the other Russian girl, well...I've not commented on her since Sochi so I'll keep avoiding that topic.

I'm well aware of the technical rules of skating so need no to rebuttal this post with all that Jazz . I wish Rika would have placed higher given the overall performances of both programs. I would have had her and Satoka in 3rd and 4th in any order. To me the effectiveness of the programs far outweigh any technical fouls at play in this particular competition.
