During `Carmina Burana`, I felt like Zhenya stopped "talking" to the audience. Instead, he absolutely reigned over the people as a ruler. When he waved his arms, I was, so to speak, blown away by a shock wave. When he moved his finger, gravitational field arose. And I was like a squashed frog in a crater which the gravity made.

I searched reports from Shizuoka on twitter. People were talking the same sort of thing. For example, "Plushy was like the god" or "the dark lord", etc. It seemed that most audience sensed something like "he's not human being" feeling. I want to know his own intention. :

Thanks for sharing the pic! I hadn't seen that before. I too would love to have more info on what they worked on &c - maybe there will be more info at some point?

I just remember the sort of thing Papa Mishin was saying before he nixed Taka yak ty... So, for me, this means that he doesn't like Carmina, but is waiting to talk to Plushy before he puts his veto on it. (shrug) I just don't want to get my hopes up again, and I prefer just to assume the worst, and not get overly attached to Carmina as a potential competitive program. I'm not saying this is a "fact" and that everyone else must assume the same - we will see. Just going by past experience - and he's already ditched Liza's new programs (or parts of them, or whatever), so he seems to be in a cranky mood...

Also, I don't know what more is left to do with Roxanne - and I'm not saying we will be getting it again. I hope to goodness we don't! But then, I never dreamed that when they ditched Taka yak ty, for "another option" it would turn out to be truncated Roxanne.

So I just find the "other options" comment extremely ominous, and since I don't enjoy false hope... (shrug)

Wait, Mishin axed Taka yak ty? I thought it was Plushy's own decision (or at least a joint decision)...? My memory's a bit foggy because, truth be told--and don't kill me for this--I didn't like Taka yak ty all that much. I mean, not that I liked truncated Roxanne either, but...

I always got the impression that post-2002 Plushy generally controlled his own "creative direction" (e.g. collab with Edvin, black outfits, serious programs quite unlike what he did pre-2002), and Mishin functioned more as an adviser. But I guess, knowing Plushy and his extreme loyalty to Mishin... maybe it's still the Professor calling the shots. Well, I'm going to look on the bright side--with Mishin in charge, we're unlikely to see Plushy repeat Storm in competition. And at least we got to see a skeletal version of Carmina, even if it never makes it to competition (we never got to see R&J...)

Anyway, I thought Taka yak ty had great potential - it was nowhere near where it had to be, but.. oh, well, it doesn't matter since it was gone. Yes, it was the Professor - the first outing didn't go that well, and he said that Plushy needed to be in a particular mood for it to work, or what have ye... and they had another option anyway. So.iijkuhbgvn (The last bit is Sassi's contribution as she ran past on the keyboard. I'll let it remain, after all she's my avatar, and if she had something she wanted to say... )

ETA - Oh, and "Best of Plushenko" was the Professor's idea as well... he said so in an interview - I think it was IceNewtwork, when he was at Skate America with Liza? But I can't swear to the when and where exactly, as my memory is so fuzzy...

I have to admit I'm very fond of The Best of Plushenko, it's just such a corny idea that it's kind of awesome. Besides, Plushy is a skating legend! If he wants to do a Best of... he can.

Wasn't Taka Yak Ty's only outing his watered down performance at Volvo Cup? I thought he didn't do a quad in purpose--his only goal was getting the minimum scores, and he did that. Don't half-kill me--I have nothing against the program, and it would probably be more popular in the skating world at large than truncated Roxanne. I just personally thought some of the choreography/timing didn't work with the music. (I see more potential in something like Carmina, for instance, where the cut and layout are for the most part good--it just needs things added to it).

Best of Plushenko was Mishin's idea--that I do remember. I didn't mind it like everyone else seemed to though...? Musical artists release "Best of" collections all the time; it didn't even cross my mind that it was an "arrogant" thing to do. It seemed fitting at his home Olympics/final Olympics. Of course, that didn't exactly pan out, for reasons completely unrelated to the program...

Now I shall spend the day ruminating in your cat's coded message, and whether it holds the secrets of the universe...

Oh, I don't hate Best of Plushenko (and I think I have a relatively high tolerance level for medleys anyway - judging by how often I don't mind those that many others seem to); I more cited it as an example of Papa Mishin's influence on Plushy's program choices.

And yes, about the Volvo Cup - but nonetheless Papa Mishin blamed the performance not being that good on Taka yak ty. There was also that Gary Moore program that he nixed - saying that people weren't responding to it, and that they don't like jazz - or whatever it was. Something.

Now, I don't think he could - or would - make Plushy skate a program that he didn't want to skate; but I also think his opinion weighs very heavily with Plushy; and he's unlikely to insist on skating something that Papa Mishin disapproves of.

Anyway re Carmina - I liked the music choice, the music cut, and the stepsequence. I thought it had potential. And, also to clarify: I would be very pleased to be proven wrong about it being ditched.

But... the host pick possibility remains. One GP outing - and one of the later ones at that - is a bit different to doing two plus potential GPF. So, what are your thoughts/hunches on that? Do you think he'll do Rostelecom?
