this was the most awesome event ever  I am literally going to slap every single person who ever asks me again why the hell I watch something as boring as figure skating. Slap them! Left and right, and put in a head slap for good measure. This was so many kinds of amazing and exciting, and right now I'm still so hyped, I'm not even going to bother to look for any more adjectives :yahoo:

Don't be nasty Pamigena, it is not nice to slap people. Just hit them with your free leg while doing the Biellman spin. (add: hit them 8 times in 8 revolutions)

People always seem to (1) underestimate how multi-dimensional the challenges of a come back are; and (2) never have enough patience to allow the return athlete the chance to enact a realistic comeback. It's rare to be back on top instantly. It's about the journey, the process, the challenge, the fight. Plenty to admire about Asada and Chan, and I for one, will continue to support their efforts through what is always a winding and complicated process.

In 10 years, all the men's competitors will probably be landing 7 quads in their free skate

Oh, and Happy Birthday Yuzuru! What a way to kick off each Birthday.
He has ALWAYS gotten a personal best at the GPF since he started seniors. Folks, GPF belongs to Yuzuru. It's his Birthday present to himself.

but I'm kinda small, if I try to hit people with my leg, I would probably hit them in the..................... :roll9: never mind

I should probably go to bed  it's past 1:30 AM, and I still have a gala to attend in a couple of hours

Ok, the high has still not worn off, but I'm wondering about the second 4T that Yuzu did. The Eurosport guys thought it was UR but the replay did not show a proper slow-mo of any of Yuzu's jumps that I could see. I guess the re-player was as hyped as the rest of us by Yuzu's crazy performance. --Can any one see if the rotation was ok? (I mean, it doesn't make a difference, I'm just curious.)

watching on slowmo it was just about but definitely on the side to count as rotated in my opinion

It's fully rotated according to my slow-mo.

Pretty close but IMO not unclear.

I tried to SC it and it looks just about on the line. Is definitely considered clean though.

Thanks! I'm sure Yuzu will consider that something that needs improvement. ;)
I think his jumps were not as crisp here as at NHK (splitting hairs) but his interpretation was better here and I enjoyed it even more!
Yuzu must be soo tired, but he has Nationals to go to almost right away! I hope he and Shoma can get a few days solid rest. It's going to be a tough fight. Not for the spots, because there's no way JSF is not sending these two, but fight of getting to the top of Japan Nationals is a yearly Battle Royale.

Yeah, for me his performance here was definitely better than NHK. He was super sharp and confident. He was putting every single move right on the music.

Mr. Scott Davis is the tech specialist, he is very harsh. Take a look at the protocol of all men and you will see, when such a harsh specialist says ok, it means Mr. Hanyu's quad combo was acceptable.

Having said that, I think this event's scores are too generous for everyone. However it's a great event still.

... The shots of Shoma/Javier/Patrick were great too. ...

Are you talking about video of Shoma/Javi/Patrick in the green room?

If so, I missed it -- but I like this photo of the three waiting in there together :ghug:.
Happy especially to see Patrick smiling :) and looking relaxed . And Shoma is so cute :luv17: ... his feet don't even reach the floor.

wow what a great night for figure skating
Congrats to all the medalists, actually congrats to all 6 of them including Murakami let this be a learning experience for him

and Yuzu...I don't know what to say
I thought his performance was actually better here, sharper I just blame the crappy camera angles for not really capturing this as it should(NHK definitely had better angles). He has so much ice coverage on his jumps but looking at this footage you can't really tell this

The technical panel by the way didn't review Yuzu's 2nd 4T.

But they did mark the first one for review. I felt like "you guys don't think you'll have much of a job in this 4,5 minutes, right?".

Totally agree. Only Kim Yuna is able to spend two years away from the ice, comeback at Worlds and take the world title.

I didn't know only a sample of jumps are reviewed, do they pick randomly or only pick the iffy looking ones.

I know. The meaning of my original post was that he would score 225.79 assuming he got/gets a level 4 on his StSq with full GOE in a future competition (adding .6 BV and .74 in GOE).

Ah, thanks for explaining.

Honestly, I think Yuzuru skated better at NHK. But in relation to how other guys ,Medvedeva and other girls are scored,I think the score he received was not controvesial.

My favorite for this competition is actually Shoma. He attacked every thing, skated his heart out. The first skate this season that gets me in tear
