2016 Four Continents Ladies Free Skate

Dicaprio did not drown. He died of hypothermia from the cold Atlantic waters then Kate Winslet push him into the sea.
Well, with Elena's light weight they might have both been saved because they would have enough space on that floating door.

I love Satoko but I was all about Mirai here. We are now seeing the pay off of her coaching change to Tom Z. This girl is having a resurgence. Well deserved second place and way to represent!

You Said It....That's exactly what Mirai was able to do. Represent....She made us all proud!!:cheer2:

How is Satoko getting such high GOE on her jumping passes?

Like I said before in a different thread, Satoko's SS are phenomenal, her consistency is one of the best, and her Un Sospiro FS is so pristine and just refreshing.

But her jumps should NOT be receiving the GOE she's currently getting. Other skaters have better jumps than her and are getting lower GOEs........

I'm curious. Where are the posts expressing outrage that Satoko won the FS with no triple-triple jump?:scratch2: Did I miss those posts? I wasn't able to read all the comments, too busy watching the event, so maybe I did miss them.

Her highest GOEs were for the two 2A+3T jumps. Can anyone explain to me why repeating the same combination like that is okay?

There's no rule against repeating a combo... just because nobody else does it doesn't mean it's wrong :)

Satoko has been skating this layout since last season to maximize scoring potential. If it were up to her she would be doing a triple triple, according to this: http://ohlovesosweet.tumblr.com/post/131265468016/note-again-for-context-its-from-patinage-2015

How is Satoko getting such high GOE on her jumping passes?

Very strong federation at it, very strong! Judges ignore rules -1GOE for the low height of a jump, and for cheatet - take-off. I hope, the Russian girls will relieve us of Miyahara's-cheater champion's title.

The fact that she is should be reason for ISU to reappraise what determines a great jump from a good jump to a bad jump. If her jumps are considered elite level than the judges are telling all other skaters that this is what we think quality jumps SHOULD look like. Practice, practice, practice and one day you too can jump like Miyahara!:ohwell:

I admired and even loved her SP, but today her tiny opening combination and pre-rotations, her careful skating and lack of connection -- the triumverate of skater, music and audience, especially after seeing Kaetlyn demonstrate that so thrillingly -- just left me cold. Something is seriously wrong with the judging and the system, when this kind of non-performance wins the gold.

A jump that is repeated can be
1. done as a solo jump and a jump in a combo (no penalty) e.g. 3F, 3F+3T
2. done in two different solo jumps (no penalty) e.g. 3F+3T, 3F+2T
3. done both in a combo jump (no penalty) e.g. 3Lo+3Lo
4. done as two solo jumps (severe penalty)
- the second solo jump is counted as a combo and the BV of the second jump is only given 80% of the original value
- if the second solo jump is done after 3 combos has been executed, the second solo becomes the fourth combo and this means it becomes an invalid element
- if the second solo jump is done and a 3rd combo is executed after that, the third combo is counted as the fourth combo and becomes an invalid element

I am kind of feeling bad for Gracie after this. While I feel her scores were higher than they should have been (and Osmond deserved 5th), that's not at all her fault. I think she really wanted to establish herself as a strong contender for a medal and Worlds and she managed to do just the opposite of that. Any high she was riding on after her win at Nationals has to be squashed like a bug  I just don't really think she'll be able to get herself in the right headspace for Boston after that.
If I had to make early Worlds predictions right now, it would look like this: 1. Evgenia, 2. Satoko 3. Elena 4-5. Mao/Ashley 6-8. Gracie/Anna/Rika.

Here's the thing. I am one of Gracie's biggest fans. However, if you want to win Medals on an international lever, you have to stand up! Period!! My coach used to say..."You don't need sympathy, you need to look in the mirror" and she was right. Gracie is coached by the best. Her programs are choreographed by the best, and she is one of the best jumpers the US has ever had. There is no reason she shouldn't have won this event handily. This is on her.

Champions rise when the pressure is high and I still expect her to deliver at Worlds.

Is it Myahara can't stay in the air long enough for 3-3? She's so low to ground after first 3, no space for a second - even for a fast rotator.

Miyahara can definitely do 3-3. She does a 3Lz+3T in the short programme. The reason she does two 2A+3T in the LP is because that is her money jump. Since she would be doing two 2A's anyway, might as well put them in combo. The two 3T is already used up. And she still has the triple jump pass to put her 3Lz in so that it can be repeated.

I thought Mirai's 2A-3T-2T was pristine and deserved more GOE than Satoko. I am not sure what bullet points Satoko fulfills other than flow into and out of a jump. Also, Mirai's 3Lo is much better than Miyahara's and the 3Lo is probably Miyahara's best jump! It's really irking me that she is getting higher and higher scores every time she skates because her average GOE keeps going up and up even though the jump quality is the same. Compared to her almost every other top skater should be getting +2 GOE =_=;;

You never saw Mao getting the benefit of her strong federation.

Her boot split! Just pray she has better luck!

I don´t think that is an excuse, the equipment should be in good enough condition for an important competition like the US Nationals is for Mirai and other American skaters. She should have remembered the Murphy´s law :roll9:

why no Mirai video?

I guess Gracie will have to sail home, rather than fly:dev2:

I can not tell you how WONDERFUL it is to see Mirai smile again, during and AFTER performances! More of those competitions, Mirai, and your numbers will just keep going up, and the USFSA won't be able to make you the bridesmaid anymore! Gracie was much better, and I hope she goes home, gets trained and ready for Boston very thoroughly. She needs to work that Firebird and explode with the music, it looked like she just didn't want to be at 4CC, maybe that is why she was so underwhelming here. Good for Katelyn Osmond too. After watching some of her programs this season, I'm happy she is finally getting back to the old Katelyn. She's not there yet, but it's a process. God her toe jumps are just HUGE. She is wonderful to watch when she is on. One judge gave her a point lower in each PCS category than the average, which is awful, and that judge should slap himself. Even then, I still think her PCS should and will go higher with cleaner skates. She does have, as they say, "Canadian Skating Skills"

Whatever we've said about Satoko's jumps, she is supremely consistent, and very pleasing to watch, and it's a credit to her that she makes the most out of what she's got. It's really enjoyable to watch someone and know they're not gonna fall or mess up, so you can just sit back and enjoy the whole performance.

If Gracie didn't want to be there then don't waste people's time just say you don't want to go like Ashley did instead of skating like that. She did more damage to her reputation with these pathetic skates. Best thing would be if there were younger skaters coming up the Junior ranks that could challenge her and Ashley but that's not happening judging by Nationals.

I wasn't able to watch the competition live, so I viewed the results before watching the programmes. That's why I couldn't enjoy Satoko's performance. I know, I shouldn't let it affect me, but I cannot help it.
Mirai was a delight! She get's my honorary 4CC 2016 gold medal!
And it's good to see So Youn improving, although I liked that Red Violin FS, I would have wanted to see that again.

I'd believe that was the director's intention to make some excuse why both couldn't fit on that door. :dev3:
